NEW Big Bear Family Cabin & Bestselling Thriller Author Retreat
Escape to our brand-new tri-level cabin nestled on a sun-soaked lot in a serene neighborhood just east of Big Bear Lake and the ski slopes. Bring your entire family, closest friends and forget your worries in this spacious writer's retreat nestled in the foothills of the US National Forest, with easy access from Highway 38.
With 5 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, and sleeping accommodations for up to 12 guests, this 2351sf family retreat offers a modern rustic ambiance with stunning north-facing windows showcasing picturesque views of the valley and hills. Enjoy the clean air, blue skies, and dazzling display of stars at night, while being minutes from the lake and ski resorts and two blocks from hiking and off-road trails.
The main entrance on the second floor opens to an open living and dining area with a gas fireplace, large windows, deck access, and beautiful, vaulted wood beams and ceiling. Look up and you'll spot our two favorite bear cubs, Nakomi and Chinook, hanging out. On the same level, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen, three comfy bedrooms, a laundry center, and a bathroom with a shower. Gather around the large expandable dining table for family meals or step outside to the gas BBQ and sun deck for al fresco dining with stunning vistas.
Ascend to the third floor to discover a charming loft area boasting a writing desk and a versatile futon that transforms into an extra sleeping space. With its vantage point overlooking the main living area below, the loft offers a whimsical treehouse-like atmosphere, perfect for quiet moments of reflection or reading a good book. You’ll also discover a nook with celebrity photos and signed hardcover books by a local thriller author. Then step through double doors into the expansive master suite with a California king bed, and a bathroom retreat complete with double sinks, a rejuvenating shower, and a relaxing soaking tub.
Downstairs on the first floor awaits a sprawling game room equipped with an 85-inch TV, pool table, mini fridge with cold drinks, and plush couches for entertainment and relaxation. One couch doubles as an extra-long twin bed. Another bedroom with a queen bed, a bathroom with a large walk-in shower, and garage access complete this level.
Our well-equipped kitchen is stocked with plenty of essentials and cookware, including dinnerware and silverware for twelve, knives, glassware, mugs, pots and pans, bakeware, cutting boards, toaster, crock pot, roasting pan, mixing bowls, hand mixer, and more. New Frigidaire appliances include a full-size refrigerator, range with gas stovetop and oven, a microwave, and a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Among the many kitchen amenities are several coffee options as well: a Keurig with pods, French press, ceramic pour-over, automatic drip, or if you’re a tea drinker we have an electric kettle. Just head to the grocery store in town and you’ll be all set to feed your friends and family when they get hungry.
Convenience is key with a washer and dryer located on the main level for quick laundry tasks or drying off after outdoor adventures. Laundry pods and dryer sheets are available for your use.
Access to the single-car garage is included, with space for a medium-sized vehicle and for storing your ski gear and sleds when you’re off the slopes.
Also note that all the bedding, towels, and rugs have been thoughtfully selected with your comfort in mind. The sheets are all breathable cotton, and the towels are plush and soft. There are several extra blankets and pillows if needed, and other extras like fans and humidifiers in the closets to help make your stay more enjoyable.
The big screen TV in the game room has a Roku stick for accessing any streaming services you use at home, and there is a smaller smart TV in one of the bedrooms with a BluRay/DVD player and movies. In addition, we have Lincoln Logs, Legos, puzzles, various games, and cards for offline entertainment. We have outdoor games too for playing in the yard, including cornhole, bocce ball, and a large Jenga set. We’ve also provided a complete guide and flyers to many of the local attractions in and around Big Bear, so you don’t have to worry about getting bored here!
Whether you're starting your day with a cup of coffee on the deck or unwinding by the toasty fire in the evening, our home offers the perfect setting for a memorable stay in the beautiful surroundings of Big Bear.
