About the host
Hosted by Susan Wise
My husband and I absolutely LOVE Bear Paw and our cabin in the woods. Although I am a native Floridian and he was raised in Ohio, we met (and eventually honeymooned) in this area many moons ago so the Murphy/Blairsville/Blue Ridge area is very special to us. Whenever we drive to The Nest, we feel rejuvenated. We love boating on lakes in The Carolinas, but most of the lakes in our area are overcrowded. Hiwassee Lake has very little traffic and is crystal clear so we think it is supreme! We hope you enjoy our favorite place in the world and can reconnect with family and friends at The Nest.
Why they chose this property
Again, Bear Paw is a magical place. It isn't over commercialized like some locations. On the other hand, it's nice for this city girl to have friendly neighbors. The amenities, such as the pool and lake are wonderful. We also enjoy relaxing around the firepit or sitting on the deck or covered porch.
What makes this property unique
We stayed in a lot of rentals in Bear Paw over the years before we purchased our own home. We really liked the easy access to the front door from the driveway. Some homes in Bear Paw/the mountains have very steep driveways or many stairs to the main door, which can be tricky when carrying groceries or little ones. Also, some rentals have very small kitchens and limited living room space. When vacationing with our friends and family we enjoy having multiple living areas--indoors and outdoors--and a large kitchen that more than one person can occupy.
