Orca Island Cabins (orcaislandcabins.com) is a remote wilderness resort offering comfortable overnight accommodations in eight private, eco-friendly waterfront yurts. Each yurt features a comfortable queen bed with thoughtfully chosen linens (including pillows, sheets, comforters) and a double futon, a well-appointed kitchen, a private bathroom with a shower (with hot water) and a modern compost toilet, a propane fireplace for comfort, and a private deck with Adirondack chairs and a grill. Enjoy whale watching, kayaking, fishing and hiking; or just sit back, relax and observe wildlife from your private deck - a very special Alaska experience.
Guests have 24/7 access to all of our non-motorized watercraft, including sea kayaks, paddle boards (SUP), skiff boat, plus fishing gear and snorkeling gear.
Guests can kayak to a nearby salmon stream and stunning waterfall within the protected waters of Humpy Cove; paddle SUP boards and row boats within the cove; fish off the island's dock; explore tide-pools and the intertidal zone around the island with our snorkeling gear; and observe marine wildlife from their private deck, including Orca and Humpback whales, harbor seals, harbor porpoise, Steller sea lions, sea and river otters, and bald eagles.
Guests are provided with private water transportation to and from the property. On the 1-hour journey (9 miles across Resurrection Bay, departing from the Seward small-boat harbor) enjoy stunning views and frequent wildlife sightings.
Guests need only bring their food and drink and enjoy their home cooking in a majestic setting surrounded by ocean vistas and snow-capped mountains. Guests often prepare fish that are caught on the island during their stay. And many guests end their day around our community campfire.
