Orca Island Cabins offers unique yurt accommodations on a private island and mainland acreage in scenic Humpy Cove. Guests are provided with water transportation to and from the island which is a 30 minute boat ride from Seward. Upon arrival at the island, guests enjoy comfortable and stylish overnight accommodations with Alaska wildlife and marine life right outside your cabin door. Enjoy whale watching, kayaking, fishing and hiking; or just sit back, relax and observe wildlife from your private deck - a very special Alaska experience. 3 yurts are located on Orca Island and 5 yurts are positioned on mainland property next to the island connected by an 80 ft. footbridge. Each yurt cabin sleeps up to 4 persons with a queen bed and a double futon. Linens are provided, including pillows, blankets and comforters. The eight self-contained, eco-friendly cabins have solar power; and each cabin features a kitchen with propane range, complete set of dishes, basic cookware, a dining and comfortable living area, propane cabin heater, and private bathroom with shower (w/ hot water) and compost toilet. Each cabin has a large private deck with barbecue grill and Adirondack chairs. Guests need only bring their food and drink and enjoy their home cooking in a majestic setting surrounded by ocean vistas and snow capped mountains. Guests often prepare fish that are caught on the island during their stay. And many guests end their day around a campfire.
Guests can kayak to a salmon stream and waterfall within Humpy Cove; paddle SUP boards and row boats within the cove; fish off the island's dock; explore tide-pools and the intertidal zone around the island with our snorkeling gear; and observe marine wildlife from their private deck, including Orca and Humpback whales, harbor seals, harbor porpoise, Steller sea lions, sea and river otters, and bald eagles.
Orca Island Cabins offers their guests the opportunity to have a remote Alaskan wilderness experience in both comfort and style.
Guests will be picked up in the harbor in Seward, AK, then taken on a 1 hour water taxi to Orca Island Cabins. The water taxi leaves on check-in day at 1pm and leaves the island on check-out day at 10am. You will arrive back in Seward by 11am.
