Only a mile from downtown shops and restaurants. Located at the end of a secluded street.

Holy cow.
I don’t normally do reviews, but this one was so special, I feel obligated to share. Here goes with the pros and cons of this place:Pros:-it’s very secluded for so close to downtown-it has a good A/C unit-it has electricity and a fridge that works -the beds are comfortable -it has hot waterCons:-the steps are a physical hazard; two of us sprained ankles on them. The wood is uneven and completely rotted. -there’s ants inside-there’s mice; as evidenced by the mouse traps everywhere -the dishes were all dirty-someone left their old mop and cleaning accessories in a big bucket right in the front porch-if you park more than one vehicle on the driveway, good luck playing Tetris when you try to consolidate to one vehicle for local trips -I am 100% convinced the place is haunted by grandmas former spirits (check the picture below)

Keep Looking / Sad House
Imagine Granny dies and her family takes out most of her belongings and decides to list house as a mountain rental…that is this house. It has a “closed up” aroma. We bought candles to burn. The kitchen is lacking in every way and is VERY small. If you are going to do any cooking, I would skip this house or bring a lot of your own supplies. There is no dishwasher, no ice maker and we were left two kitchen towels and one dish cloth. The bathrooms are Very Very small. We were left bath towels but only one hand towel per bathroom. The washer/dryer are outside in the garage, which is scary and smelly. We did find a non working grill out in garage. (There is no grill to cook with, which would have been nice to have). If you plan on sleeping past sunrise, bring a sleep mask. There are no curtains on two windows in two of the bedrooms. We all agreed this house “barely” meets criteria to be a vacation rental. The bucket, mop and cleaning supplies mentioned in previous review…were STILL stationed at front door when we arrived. Not sure there is a real cleaning service, maybe a neighbor who cleans the place? I am not a petty or particular person BUT will pay more next time we are in area and hope for a better experience.
2 Day girls Trip our plans included tubing and & shopping in the local shops. We enjoyed the day in Helen tubing wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for as the river was to low to really float so we spent more time hanging up on rocks. The house was as described the roads were more curvey than we expected.

It was okay
I was a bit disappointed with my stay. The house looked very cute and charming online, but the experience wasn’t quite the same in person. Arriving after dark was challenging—the house is at the end of a very dark street, and there were no lights to help unlock the gate, navigate the driveway, or even find the entrance. This made it a bit unsettling, especially for someone unfamiliar with the area.
When I entered, there was a strong musty, moldy smell, which took away from the house’s charm and made things uncomfortable. Additionally, I noticed a few bugs inside; while that might be typical for the area, it was still a bit off-putting. There was also hair on the pillows, either dog or short human hair, which didn’t feel very clean.
Overall, the experience would have been better without the odor, and I’d definitely recommend more outdoor lighting for future guests. This would make the home feel more welcoming and safer, especially for those arriving from out of town in the evening.
