Our group of 5 stayed for a long weekend. The lake was clean, quiet & great for swimming. Meijer wasn’t far away so we could get everything that we needed. We loved it and would stay here again.
We had a great weekend for our girls weekend. The house was beautiful. However, this place does not supply linen, which was fine. But we also had to go to the store to buy garbage bags and hand soap, which we were not told we needed. Every rental property we have ever been to at least provided those things.
It was a beautiful, quiet place to get away. Just be prepared to make a trip to the store for extra items that you were not told you needed.
My two year and six year old boys, my husband, and I had a great time during our three night stay here. The owners were communicative and answered a few questions I had beforehand. The neighbors were friendly and a few children staying a few houses down came by to play with them. The sand and water areas were perfect for little children as the water is fairly shallow and calm by the dock. We took the paddle boat out a few times, fished off the dock, and swam a ton. The water temp was wonderful! My family enjoyed eating dinner on the porch and it was great to have the use of the grill. The house itself was very nice and we were very comfortable. My kids want to come back next summer! I would highly recommend!
We had a nice family vacation at the Lavine Lake Cottage. The cottage was comfortable and a wonderful place to spend a few days with our daughter and her family. The only negative thing I have to say about this property is the fact that there were no bed linens, towels, face cloths or pillow cases provided. I have never rented a house without these basic essentials provided. It was noted in the description of the cottage that these things would not be provided but I feel for the price of the rental it should have been. There wasn't even any toilet paper! For this reason I would not go back to this cottage because there are plenty other alternatives to choose from.

Quiet, comfortable home on a beautiful lake
Rented the house for a golf weekend getaway with 7 friends - house was exactly what we wanted. The house was fully stocked with everything we would need and the owners were wonderful to work with. The back deck overlooking the lake is perfect for a relaxing evening. Would definitely stay here again

Perfect to relax and enjoy the summer!
Our family had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for what we were looking for in a summer break. We had 4 adults and 3 teens in our group. We definitely filled the sleeping spaces. The kitchen and living room were very comfortable and well stocked. Meijer was just a few miles away so we were able to stock up on food and snacks whenever we needed too. We took advantage of the water by swimming/fishing every day. We also rented a boat on Coldwater Lake which was only a few miles away.

worry free on Lake Lavine
My daughter and I stayed here and had some cousins and my parents visit. Lake Lavine is clean, small and very peaceful, there were some speed boats out but not too many. We appreciated how well maintained and clean the house is and that the owners were great to work with. The house is furnished, pack your clothes and towels and be on your way. It is pretty much in between Angola and Colwater for a quick trip into town for groceries or dinner out. During our stay we made use of the small private beach area which was shallow and sandy, we floated on tubes and took rides on the paddle boat. I loved sitting on the upper deck in the mornings so I could look out over the lake while I drank my coffee. We mostly stayed at the house during the week and cooked on the grill but we did go out for dinner one night. You're in lake country up here and there are lots of restaurants to choose from, we ate at the Lake George Retreat. It's right on Lake George, the family dining room has a great view of the lake and there is a bar downstairs and the food is great. My daughter and I both agree that we loved it here and would love to come back. It was a very peaceful and relaxing time.

Great house, beautiful lake!
We were so happy to arrive at the house and find such a terrific place in such a beautiful lake setting. The owner was friendly and helpful and everything was extremely neat, clean, and ready for our stay. The kitchen was well-stocked with basic provisions (pans, utensils, bowls...). We were a family group of 9 (5 adults and 4 kids) With a king, queen, bunk beds and sleeper sofa, everybody was very comfortable. We really enjoyed the back deck overlooking the lake, with a built-in sunshade. The neighbors were super friendly and there were a handful of younger kids staying over the weekend for our youngsters to play in the water with. The beach area was great, with a fire ring and dock for fishing. We caught plenty of small bluegill right from the dock, and enjoyed taking the paddle boat out for a ride and to fish. The water was not deep enough to jump off the dock, but an anchored float was available to swim out to for jumping and playing. With Lake George just down the road we found some great bait and tackle shops and it was a quick trip to Angola for groceries. Thanks so much for a great stay!

About the host
Hosted by Owner/ Manager
We are from central Ohio and currently live most of the time in Columbus, Ohio. We are empty nesters and try to get to Lake Lavine as much as possible.
Why they chose this property
We bought this property quite impulsive as the previous owners were moving to Houston, TX. They were having a moving auction, and we went to buy a power washer. Before we knew what happened, we bought the house. Oh, and we got the power washer too.
What makes this property unique
This house is back a gravel road and it dead ends, so you won't have to hear a lot of traffic while you are relaxing. The house was built in 2005, and we have updated the entire house.
