Dog-friendly Maine 1 BR lakeside cottage with WiFi, laundry, and full kitchen.
Your cozy getaway awaits in Augusta at this charming lakeside cottage. With 1 bedroom featuring a plush queen bed, it's the perfect retreat for couples or solo guests with/without pets. Amenities include WiFi, in-window AC in the bedroom + living room, full kitchen, and a washer/dryer. A ramp from the driveway to the deck, walk-in shower with grab bars, and a low step into the house make it friendly for people with mobility issues. The large deck out front has a table and chairs for outdoor dining, and a smaller deck out back lets you take coffee with lake views.
The yard is fenced and dogs are welcome as long as the dog is not a puppy (for the sake of the furniture!). Owners of dogs under 30 lb need to be mindful that they might wriggle under the gate; we recommend small dogs stay leashed and supervised. And yes, we do allow multiple dogs, but please let us know if it's more than two.
Early risers will be rewarded with pastel sunrises over still waters; night owls can watch the stars reflect in the water from the back deck. Relax in the recliner and listen to the loons calling, golf at the nearby links, walk down by the Kennebec River, visit historic Old Fort Western, go antiquing in Hallowell, or bring your fishing rod and try for bass or pickerel in the pond. Our property provides a comfortable and inviting home away from home—off the beaten path, but it's only a 15- to 20-minute drive to restaurants, shopping, and more.

Elizabeth is a wonderful host and takes pride in her property. It had everything we needed for us and our two goldens. They loved running around the fenced in yard. We were lucky enough to see and hear the loons. So so peaceful and a great week to recharge.
The house was adorable and so clean! The views of the water were just what we were looking for. The owner was very attentive and responded quickly. A nice quiet place to go and relax! Would definitely recommend and stay there again!

Thank you! appreciate how clean you left the house. You're welcome back anytime!
We loved this place. It was so peaceful and quiet. Loved to see the different wildlife on the lake. Only suggestion we have is maybe a privacy shade in the bathroom, so you can have more privacy when taking a shower.Loved that there wasn’t a TV. It made for a very relaxing weekend stay.
This property was perfect for us and our labs. The house was very comfortable on a beautiful pond. We saw beaver, mallards, loons, and bald eagles. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate in during our stay. The host was very helpful. We would definitely stay here again!
Very clean and well stocked with necessary supplies. Accessibility for persons with mobility issues greatly appreciated. We enjoyed hearing the loons and looking out at the lake. We were especially happy to have our small dog with us on this fenced property.
Great cozy cabin is a great quite getaway. We enjoyed bird watching. The loon on the lake was so cool n there's chipmunks running around. My dog loved watching them. Awesome place to rebalance in life.

Thank you! (Just so you know, the loons appear to have successfully hatched at least one chick—a guest got a photo that they posted in their review.)
Great place, the fenced in area allowed you to enjoy the space and let the dogs run around without any worries! During our stay it was upper 90 to near 100 and we requested an additional ac and they accomadated us with in a few hrs. Elizabeth and Mark are great host and were very responsive to our request.
A relaxing and sweet place to stay. We really needed a break, and this was just the right place. There was no coffee or oil or spices... so bring your own! Plenty of quality cookware. We loved the wildlife and flowers

Thanks for the suggestions! There was coffee, but it’s in the fridge (which we should’ve told you) and thanks to you we’re now stocking cooking oil and some basic spices. Appreciate the feedback.
Everything about the cottage made us feel at home. It was very well kept and our hosts did everything possible to make us feel welcome. We were looking forward to the water view and it did not disappoint!
As described in the listing. Great communication, clean amenities, fully furnished kitchen and laundry/dishwasher in good condition. Would stay again if I needed to. Thanks!

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed your stay and we would gladly have you back!
The house was lovely and contained numerous thoughtful amenities. The fenced-in yard was perfect for our Great Pyrenees, and the proximity to the water (Dam Pond) was ideal. Sunsets were truly beautiful. One suggestion for future visitors would be a BBQ grill. We truly enjoyed our stay, and the owner, Elizabeth, was helpful and amiable. We would definitely consider a return. Our biggest problem was the 8-9 hour drive from NJ.

Thank you! I appreciate you telling me about the situation because it was a setting that needed updating. Which I’ve done, but I wouldn’t have know to do it without your feedback. So thanks again!
Very comfortable house. My husband enjoyed the fishing.
My dog loved the fenced in yard. He really liked eating the acorns!
Our host Elizabeth was super help full getting us a hotel room when we lost power on Saturday to get ready for a wedding ! luckily the power was restored. We where able to return to our cozy spot !
Great spot on the pond! Wonderful place for couple or one person to stay. The dogs loved the fenced in yard and so did we. Home had everything we needed to make meals. Also had many of the small things like coffee filters, foil, a few zip lock bags etc that saved us having to pick up. We heard loons throughout our stay, and saw a bald eagle fly over the pond a few times. Its 10 minutes from Augusta, grocery less than 6 miles away. Communication was great with host. Hiked many of the trails around Augusta with dogs. Didn’t miss a TV at all. Home was very comfortable.

Thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed your stay, and it was nice chatting with you.
Lovely, quiet place on Dam Pond. With the windows open, I could hear the loons at night and in the morning. The cottage is the perfect size for one or two people and was well-stocked. I appreciated that the owner stocked decent paper towels and toilet paper. Boxes of Kleenex would also be helpful. There was one hot day when I closed the windows and used the air conditioner and ceiling fans - they were enough to keep the house reasonably cool for me and my little dog. Two things that can't be helped were the proximity to the road (sound of cars going by) and the number of deer flies - the latter made me reluctant to spend much time out in the yard (hence the four stars). But even with that, we had a lovely time. It was a good jumping off place to visit local sites - I went whale- and puffin-watching out of Boothbay Harbor.

Duly noted about the Kleenex! We will add that; thank you for bringing it up. Will similarly stock bug spray!
We are Mark and Elizabeth, a older couple still raising our kids on a farm an hour or so south of our cottage. Elizabeth's parents lived in the Augusta area for 40 years and the cottage has been in her family for many years. We're not quite ready to retire yet, so until the day comes that we sell the farm, pack up our dogs, and send our two remaining teenagers out on their own, we're hosting travelers who want the Maine woods-and-waters experience that we love so much.
Why they chose this property
It's a quiet and peaceful location with natural beauty, yet everything you could want or need is just a quick drive down Rt. 3. It's close enough to the coast to get to the attractions there without having to fight too much traffic (even in summah!) and having renovated the house ourselves in 2014—Mark is a master carpenter—we know it's snug and warm in winter.
What makes this property unique
It has that perfect combination of being away from it all but close to everything. There are restaurants, grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, places to walk or ride bikes, a golf course, and even the hospital is only 15 minutes down the road. The sunsets are breathtaking and the pond itself has many beautiful moods. Coastal Maine communities such as Ellsworth, Damariscotta, and Rockland are only about an hour away, and they have galleries, restaurants, and seaside attractions that make it worth the trip.
