Second time here and we will be back!

We have so enjoyed this place as a fishing retreat. Host is great at communicating. Neighbor's dog barked a lot, but we had a good time.

Quick Fishing trip

The house was great. The location was good, if you like the out of the way places...which we do. Maybe a little hard to fine, but we enjoyed our little get away very much.

Perfect Getaway

I love this property! It's private, secluded but in a neighborhood with shaded dirt roads to walk my dog. I love the observation deck, multiple screen porches, proximity to Hunting Island State park (use of park pass). We cook meals there in kitchen, gas grill outside. We have stayed her multiple times and always enjoy.

Great Stay and Proximity to Hunting Island

This was a great spot for its proximity to Hunting Island. We have been avid campers there for the last fifteen years and it was finally nice to come back to a house instead of a tent. Debra was always there to answer any questions we had.

Nice home

Was a nice home and close to the beach. The only downside was the neighbor, be ready to not feel welcomed by them, wow. The home was clean, nice yard and scenic over the marsh.

Awesome adult family vacation

We have stayed at this property a few other times over the years. We love how it it remote, private, yet close to our favorite beach/park- Hunting Island. Great shaded road to walk our dog. Beautiful views from upper deck. It is perfect size for us and adult children.

A much needed vacation

The place and observation deck was amazing. The neighbors dogs and chickens were intrusive and the location was not as expected. The walk to the beach was difficult to find and the beach area was small and very muddy at times

Porches - Birds- Location

This house on Saint Helena Island is an oasis in the trees, a short walk to a quiet beach, 15 min drive to Hunting Island State Park ( a gem of a place), and a 25 min drive to downtown Beaufort! Listening to the birds singing in the morning and watching the sunset was part of my early morning routine from one of the porches. Just an FYI there are multiple levels to this house, so the stairs will help keep you fit! It is a little uncomfortable/quirky, at first, coming and going through the shared private driveway, but I didn’t have any problems with the neighbors, however do be aware that their dogs do bark at times, but they are fenced in.

A wonderful family vacation!

This property was exactly what I've been looking for. There was plenty of room for my 81-year-old mother, her brother, my two teenage daughters, myself, and my 70 lb dog. Many " pet friendly" rentals seem to only allow smaller dogs and I was pleasantly surprised when I found this place would allow me to bring all of my family. There is a local beach a short walk away where I could walk my dog in the mornings and it proved to be a good spot to put our inflatable kayaks and my stand up paddle board into the water to paddle around a bit. The host provided pass into Hunting Island State Park was great, allowing us free entry to access the beach where living sand dollars can be found along the ocean floor and I did a little body surfing with the lighthouse overlooking our activities. There had been an issue with one of the electrical circuits tripping a breaker because of damage to an outdoor tree light in a storm the previous weekend. The host called me on my way down to the beach to inform me of the trouble and when I got to the house she instructed me how to turn that off so that the rest of the circuit would work properly for us during our stay. So a potential issue became a non-issue. The whole family had a wonderful time and I do believe we will come back in the future.

Couldn't have been better

Our stay at LaBrias was wonderful. We wanted to be on a marsh location, so we could enjoy the tidal flow, and we became mesmerized, waiting for the incoming water and the change in scenes! The house is furnished by a family who knows what is required in a household. We stayed for three weeks, so were really happy to have everything so nicely provided. The layout is great. Floor to ceiling windows in every room make you feel like you are living in the trees. And the fourth floor deck....we will never forget the evening of the full moon rising over the Atlantic and the sun setting behind us over the marsh. Being less than ten minutes away, and the comp pass, to Hunting Island State Park is the icing on the cake. Hunting Island is probably the most amazing island beach along the east coast...and we've been to bunch of them!!!! The Lighthouse and nature programs are great. When we were there in March/April, there were days we would go to the beach and hardly see another soul. Walk, walk and walk. Also found ourselves heading in to Beaufort, Savannah and other interesting areas. Lots of fun places to eat and the waterfront park in Beaufort is the perfect place to 'swing' away a sunny afternoon. There is a fabulous children's park there too. Look no further, if you are looking for a place that is not in the mainstream or part of a gated-community!!!

Location, Location, Location

A lot of thought went into this coastal Island house. My wife and I were able to benefit. It’s located on the most prime and private location of Heron Drive – at the end point, next to a tidal marsh. There are many sitting/relaxing areas (inside and out) that perfectly embrace the natural setting. The house was well appointed and clean – grades an A+ It’s excellent to use as a “base camp” to venture out and explore all the many points of interests – St. Helena Island, Hunting Island, Port Royal Sound, historical Beaufort and other sea islands. You can take a 10-minute walk to a small beach on the sound. By borrowing the State Park Pass in the house, will get you in one of the most beautiful state parks in the state (Hunting Island, 15-minute drive) where you’re able enjoy an Atlantic Ocean beach, right in front of a historic lighthouse ! Along the drive back, I recommend stopping at a local spot - Johnson’s Creek Tavern on Harbor Island for an evening of cold drinks and a seafood dinner. We took day-trips to Savannah and Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge. One morning, Edisto Saltwater Tours (Captain Phil Albensious) picked us up at the marina on Dataw Island. He took us on a 2.5-hour tour of the beautiful natural ACE Basin where we saw dolphins, many sea island birds and even an eagle. The author, Pat Conroy, loved St. Helena Island – he’s buried there. Reading the book by Edith M. Dabbs – “Sea Island Diary, A History of St. Helena Island”, will enrich your stay. We made wonderful memories here. Thank you Debra & Michael !

We have really enjoyed staying here multiple years. We love the views, seclusion, convenience to town and Hunting Island (pass included) We had great family time playing games and enjoying meals on the screened in porch. It's always a treat to spot deer in the yard. Would highly recommend!

This is an amazing house and a great deal. Don’t be confused by it only listing 2 bedrooms. There is plenty of room for 8 people in this home. The beach near the house is on the sound and very calm, just bring water shoes for the oyster shells. We can’t recommend this home more.

We could not have been happier! Sunrise at the private beach, stars on the crow’s nest, marsh rabbits and deer in the yard, Butch’s boat landing (for putting in kayaks) and hunting island less than 10 min away. The kitchen was well stocked, the details were attended to, the beds were comfy. The ONLY gripe I have is the lack of a lock on the primary bedroom door (and that is in the review for the owners not because it detracted from our stay!) The place was perfect for our family of 5 and the hosts were very accommodating. We will certainly return to this spot!!

We love our home in South Carolina! Having family nearby, we share meals and good times together. We live in San Francisco, also a beautiful place, but when we go to our So. Carolina home, we simply feel the stress of the everyday life melt away no matter what time of year. We have spent all the seasons and all are equally beautiful. We love beach combing, meeting and sharing a meal with our neighbors and lazing on the decks with a good book in the heat of the day. Family members visit and we take in the local catch of the day - the shrimp, clams, oysters and crab that our brother-in-law catches himself! We want you to enjoy our home as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

We have family and friends in No. and So. Carolina and Florida. We knew we needed to have our own home to share with them. We were fortunate to find this special place that brings such joy, and we are delighted to share with our guests.

What makes this property unique

We love the food, beaches, shopping, neighbors and quiet that makes us feel rejuvenated at the end of a stay.
