Host ghosted me. Texted him 3 days before arrival, day of arrival for instructions to access apartment. Nothing. Thanks dude. Do NOT rent from this guy

Horrible property owner experience.

On check-in day, I could not get a response from the property owner. One hour after check-in time the property owner canceled my reservation and we were left out in the cold, 42 degrees. I booked this 1.5 months ago and it was utterly ridiculous that it was canceled an hour after our check-in time.

Horrible smell/no recourse

When we checked in, there was a funky smell that seemed like smoke being covered up by air freshener. There was no wifi. The building is a modern building but even the carpets outside by the elevator were just dirty. We were supposed to be there 8 nights. After a time we realized that the stench that the multiple air fresheners were trying to cover up was from the bathroom. It smelled horrible and the longer we stayed, the worse it seemed to get. The stench permeated all our clothes. We didn't use the kitchen because of the smell. Before I said I was going to leave, a housekeeper showed up thinking we were checking out. I thought this was very odd and wonder if the place had been double booked. We vacated after night 3 and I messaged the owner who said they would give us a refund. She even said we could stay there and get a refund. I moved to a hotel. Since then, complete ghosting from the owner and I am pretty sure she has no intention of giving me a refund. Absolutely NO help from VRBO either. I'm so upset by this, I doubt will ever book another VRBO again. I feel totally ripped off.
