About this property

Camp At Newfound Lake

Enjoy the beauty of the four seasons in New Hampshire at The Camp at Newfound Lake. We are located on a dead-end road in the woods next to Whittemore Brook. It is a short walk or drive to a shared beach located on Pasquaney Bay. There is a ramp for day boat use, dock, and raft. We are in the heart of the Lakes Region with abundant hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, and skiing opportunities. The camp is the perfect spot for a snowmobile get-away, ski vacation, fall hiking, or summer water fun. Wellington State Park is nearby with the largest freshwater sandy beach in NH. Newfound Lake has exceptionally clear and clean water due to natural springs. Many mountains are nearby for downhill and cross-country skiing. Ice fishing is popular on the bay. Snowmobile trails are nearby and the views of the lake are spectacular. We have all the equipment necessary to make traveling with little ones easier ~ high chair, porta-cribs, toddler bed, strollers, toys, etc. Let us know what your needs are so we can set up accordingly before you arrive. We are looking forward to sharing our piece of heaven with you.

Great place!

My 2 teenage sons and myself stayed for a fishing weekend in May. The house is wonderfully appointed with plenty of space. The boys loved the ping pong in the garage. It is a short distance to the lake, walkable. I would definitely stay here again!

Wonderful stay

My parents and aunt had a wonderful stay at this property for our wedding weekend at Newfound. The space was clean and the owner was very responsive when the VRBO app was glitching on our end. Wonderful location, we highly recommend.

Everything we hoped for

Beautiful spot, the home was relaxing and wonderful. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook for the family. They left out a high chair, crib, and toys so traveling with my infant was a breeze. Short walk to the beach. Thanks for everything.

vaca 2020

Overall we enjoyed ourselves. The house is cute. Lots of toys for the kids. We had really hot and humid weather so could have used a second air conditioner but we did have lots of fans. We had brought some up. The walk to the beach was a little too much with 3 kids, floaties, noodles and snacks so we took our car.

Inaccurate description. NOT LAKE FRONT and NO BEACH just boat landing

The house was beautiful but this is NOT a lake front, the "beach" is a boat landing with hardly any sand or anywhere to sit or park. The host only provided 2 garbage bags and 3 rolls of toilet paper for an entire weekend but then told us to go buy our own,. It's not great for kids. The picture with the "ramp" to the water is NOT accurate at all. You have to use the boat ramp to get in the water and need water shoes.

Peaceful and comfy

We enjpyed our stay.. The location was. peaceful and the house had most everything you might need. Confortable king bed in master,, Nice size bright bathroom upstairs. Lots of nooks and drawers to put stuff.. . Just some tips: The house is not really suitable for disabilities -- visually impaired or mobility issues.. A lot of the lighting is quite dim for low vision and the steps into and out of house are a bit tall. The hand rail doesnt quite extend to top of stairs... Wifi is strong but there is no TV reception.. Just dvd player and some movies.. We had our Roku so we could stream our football hame.. And, dont forget to take your own toilet paper -- i missed that little detail.. .. :)

Cute Cabin!

This was a real nice place to stay. All the wood was lovely It! It was a good distance from town so as to make us feel more secluded. On the street it was closer to other houses/cabins than it looked like. The street road wasn't plowed so it took a minute to realize it was an actual street. The driveway is on an incline so we were a little worried when it got slushy out but all the gravel gave it enough traction to make it perfectly safe. It seemed like a real nice town. We even were able to get delivery from the Chinese place down the way. The Country Store was super convenient, and fill with the cutest things with a gas station and all just a couple minutes away. The lake was across the road and made a pretty view when we were leaving the street. We couldn't see it from the house which was okay. The king bed was comfy upstairs. The bathrooms were nice. We could tell no one had been there in a while with all the cob webs on the doorways and corners of the house. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, and utensils. The oven looked like it needed more love than we had the energy to spare so we just used the electric grill which worked like a charm! Getting in and out was a breeze. And the wifi was strong. It was a great time! ❤

Relaxing getaway

We had a relaxing week-long get away at this property which was quiet and equipped with all the amenities we needed. The short walk to the lake access point was easy, although on a busy road for a short stretch. The owner was very responsive to any questions. We enjoyed getting to know Bridgewater and Bristol, as well as Newfound Lake.

In the woods with the gnats, mosquitoes and old mobile homes

The Camp itself was nicely decorated and the check in and out process was easy. Communication with the property owner was easy and he was very responsive. However, while the Camp was a short walk to an association beach, it was located in the woods near a brook which made for a lot of gnats and mosquitoes. The house was also amidst old trailer homes that were in somewhat disrepair. I would also say if you need or are used to couches and mattresses that are firm and need cable TV (you need a smart phone or tablet and have to know how to chrome cast shows in order to watch channels other than local news) THEN this is NOT a place to stay. If these things were disclosed in the rental listing, I would have made a different choice. On the plus side, we were close to some really good restaurants and the lake was just a 2 minute walk from the house. Walmart, grocery stores and major pharmacies were within a 15 minute drive. Also, the house was equipped with nice ceiling fans and window air conditioners in both bedrooms. We didn’t need to use the air conditioners because there weren’t any really hot days. The clean and cool water of the lake was also very refreshing! Newfound Lake and the mountains make for a beautiful vacation and we will definitely be back. I will, however, look for places that are on the water, not in the woods, not amongst old mobile homes, have firmer mattresses and couches.and have cable.

About the host

Host profile image
This property was purchased by my parents in 1972 and was used by the family for over three decades. My wife and I bought the property from other family members in 2007. At that time we replaced the old camp that was there and built this new house.

Why they chose this property

This location is very special to our family because of the long history of vacationing here with friends and family. Many memories of my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews - boating and water sports.

What makes this property unique

Two hours from Boston with many attractions in the Granite state. Very centrally located in the Lakes Region. Swimming and boating access to Newfound Lake.
