About this property

Mountain Top Cabin in Wolf Laurel, just North of Asheville

You will absolutely love our mountain top home located in a gated community with easy access to lots of things to do, places to eat, and the beauty of nature. Our completely renovated and beautifully decorated home is just north of Asheville and is a true mountain top retreat. There are four bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The master bedroom features a gel top king size bed, 40" flat screen tv, a door to the outside deck, incredible mountain views, and private master bathroom. There are three bedrooms with queen size beds. The living area includes a wood burning fireplace, 60" flatscreen tv, and a wall of windows for great mountain views. WiFi is available throughout the house. There is a large dining room, a well stocked kitchen, a full laundry room, and a recreation room with pool table and 10 game PAC-Man arcade game; yes this house has it all. You can wake up to beautiful sunrises or enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sun paint the sky at sunset - the views from inside and out are spectacular. The back of the house offers two levels of large deck space with a gas fire pit. Along side the house is a small creek that offers peaceful sounds. At 4600 feet of elevation, it is always cool during the summer.

If you enjoy hiking, there is a nature trail just below the house and about 2000 feet from the front door, you can walk to the Appalachian Trail. Big Bald Mountain is just down the road where you can hike to the top for great long range views. If you enjoy skiing, the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is just 2.5 miles (10 min) away and offers skiing and snowboarding. The summer offers rafting, tubing, zip lining, and horseback riding at the nearby Wolf Laurel Stables. Wildlife is everywhere; with deer, turkey, and bear frequently seen right from the house.

Asheville and all that Asheville has to offer is just 35 minutes away. There is an incredible local music scene in Asheville, lots of micro-breweries and pubs, awesome restaurants, and the Biltmore Mansion. Also nearby is Little Switzerland, Hot Springs, and of course the famous Blue Ridge Parkway.

This house is located in the exclusive gated community of Wolf Laurel. The community is extremely safe, well maintained, and full of wildlife. While the community has some amenities, guests do not have access to the pool, tennis courts, or pickle ball courts; these are reserved for members.

We do have security cameras on the exterior of the property. This allows us to feel better about having a home so far away and helps with our insurance costs. We do not use them to monitor guests; just the opposite, they are to know all is well when no one is around.

This is our mountain top retreat and we would be delighted to share it with you.

Great spot for a family trip

We loved our stay! Beautiful mountain views, spacious living room, awesome fire pit, and trail behind the house were great. We had plenty of room at the dining table for Thanksgiving dinner and game nights. We would definitely choose to stay here again!

Amazing location

Wonderful location with amazing views. Very nice house and we loved the game room. The trails were an amazing start to our days with many deer around. Skiing the wolf was great and love that it's just a couple miles down the mountain. I would definitely recommend this house if you love the mountains and nature!

Wedding trip

We selected this property because it fit my family’s needs very well. There was plenty of space for the six of us. We enjoyed the game room with pool table. We liked that it was secluded in a gated community. I liked to sit on the deck and enjoy nature. The quiet time was awesome.

Good Value

Clean home with comfortable beds and furniture. The view is picturesque and my kids love seeing the deer in the surrounding area. The roads and the driveway are steep. If it snows, then you need a four wheel drive vehicle. We were in a minivan and almost could not get out of the driveway.

Home Away From Home

Beautiful home. So clean and well cared for. Minutes from Hatley Pointe. They had games that kept us entertained during our down time. Communication was fantastic. Didn’t use much of the kitchen, so can’t comment much on that. The weather was rainy so didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy being outside, but they did have a great little patio and their backyard was just steps away from a hiking trail. Highly recommend.

Incredible house w/ quick AT access

Loved my stay here. Spent a 3 night getaway working, hiking/running, spending time with my daughter, and just chillin'. House was awesome for all. WiFi worked great, plenty of room to spread out. I work remotely so the spaciousness of the house was a bonus for all of my accessories.Trail access was incredible. You can either walk through the backyard to the AT connector trail or just walk to the end of the road to the connector trail. Either way, the AT is less than a mile away. Or just drive to the top of Big Bald Road and access the AT directly near Big Bald. A hikers/runners dream!About the chillin', again, super awesome. Awesome deck, perfect for relaxing and watching the dozens of deer that will inevitably stroll by. 4 bedrooms, great game room with pool table and an awesome Pac-Man arcade game. House is super private and just very nice overall.I go to Wolf Laurel often and will request this house over and over.Thank you! 5 stars plus!

Truly a magical place!

My family and I stayed at this beautiful mountain home over the Memorial Day weekend. This location is truly magical. A hidden gem. Far enough away that you get to get away from it all and dive into nature, but close enough to be able to seek out the culture of Asheville and surrounding areas. The communication from the owners was great and informative and the house was comfy and well-appointed. We wanted to stay longer.

Perfect layout for a few or for more!

We loved our time here! We had plenty of space and had everything we could have needed in the kitchen. The beds were great and there was plenty of light for old eyes. There were lots of books to read (and good ones too) and plenty of games to play. Communication with the host was great too! We will be back! Thank you!

Wonderful!

Our whole family and goldendoodle enjoyed a 9-day stay at this delightful location. One highlight was driving up to the Bald and hiking back down to the house via the AT and Nature Trail. If you enjoy hiking, it is not to be missed. The temperature each day was 15-20 degrees cooler than the Piedmont area. The kitchen is well equipped, and the grill was handy as we grilled out one night. We loved sitting on the peaceful back deck in the adirondack chairs overlooking the green expanse. It’s terrific to be able to access the nature trial (a gorgeous hike with an understory you would find in Canada) from the backyard, which leads to the AT, 1.2 miles from the house. Other activities in the area: we spent two days at the Biltmore, which is about 40 minutes away. We went white water rafting on the French broad river, and horseback riding. We were very thankful to have found this home from which we could launch into so many activities! The host was terrific in responding to our questions. Highly recommend this place!

Great home in Wolf Laurel

We spent 4 nights at the house for a wedding. We chose this house because it was close to the Wolf Laurel Club and had 4 bedrooms to accommodate our family members. The house was clean inside and well furnished. The kitchen had everything you could need for cooking and grilling outside. It was a hot day when we arrived and it was a little warm inside but it cooled down when we turned the AC up. The loads of games, books, pool table and Pacman kept all of us busy. Our hosts communicated regularly, and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a comfortable and well appointed home where we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return in the future. Highly recommended.

Nice getaway cabin.

Overall it was a very nice cabin. Plenty of space for the 4 of us that stayed there and the pool table was a nice touch. The only ding I would give is the downstairs shower curtain could have been a little cleaner. Keep in mind that this cabin is on the secluded side but was fine for us. Also, the driveway going down to the cabin can be a little tricky.

Great mountain getaway

We had a great stay in Wolf Laurel. The house was so nice and well stocked. It had everything we needed. It is so peaceful there, but close enough to visit Asheville and The Biltmore. It was also a great place to hike. We liked the nature trail behind the house. The hosts Darrell and Marie were great and kept in touch to make sure the stay was perfect!

Amazing

My family had the best experience of all our VRBO stays. The hosts are unbelievable kind, thoughtful, and helpful with excellent communication. They even took the time to update us on weather alerts during our stay. The house is absolutely beautiful with a breath-taking view. They supply you with everything you could ask for including kitchen appliances, pots and pans, books, games, and more. The house is remote and it's very quiet and peaceful there. Asheville and other popular spots aren't too bad of a distance but there is plenty of hiking to in the area as well as snow tubing and skiing right there. This was our first time visiting North Carolina and we couldn't have been more blessed by the hosts and this entire experience. You should definitely stay here for your Blue Ridge mountains vacation!

Beautiful Home

We stayed here for our daughters wedding in Mars Hill. The owners have taken special care to provide a home away from home for their guests. The kitchen was well stocked. The bedrooms and baths were large and very comfy. Spotless inside and out. It’s great to find such a beautiful home that accepts pets. Great communication with owners. Thank you.

We are Darrel and Marie Donatto and we are excited to be able to share our vacation home with you. Marie and I live in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where Marie works in the finance industry and I am a Fire Chief with 36 years of service. We both work hard and long hours and spend a lot of our off time serving at our church.

We are fortunate to be just five short miles from some of the most beautiful beaches and ocean water in the world. We find a tremendous amount of peace and restoration from the ocean.

Why they chose this property

When we vacation, we like to travel to areas that offer mountains, hiking, and forested lands. Which is what led us to purchase this second home in Wolf Laurel.

We fell in love with the area, and hope that you do as well.

What makes this property unique

The location of this property is incredible. You are just north of Asheville; being close enough for day trips to all of Asheville's offerings and happenings. Asheville has a regional airport with incredibly low airfare if you can fly Allegiant Airlines. The property is in the gated community of Wolf Laurel, which is spectacularly maintained. It is near the top of the mountain at 4500 feet of elevation with great seasonal views. It is within a short walk of the Appalachian Trail. It is within a short drive of numerous hiking trails.
