The Neighborhood:

Welcome to the heart of Portland’s vibrant Alphabet District! This home places you in one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, known for its unique blend of historic charm and modern amenities.

Just steps from your door, you’ll find a diverse array of popular restaurants, cozy cafes, trendy bars, and independent boutiques. Whether you’re craving a gourmet meal, a casual coffee, or a craft cocktail, NW 21st Avenue has something to satisfy every palate. Be sure to explore popular local favorites like Salt & Straw for artisanal ice cream, Ken’s Artisan Bakery for delicious pastries, and McMenamins Blue Moon Tavern for a quintessential Portland pub experience.

The neighborhood is easy to explore on foot. For shopping enthusiasts, the nearby Pearl District offers high-end shops and galleries, while NW 23rd Avenue is lined with charming stores and eclectic shops.

Nature lovers will appreciate the proximity to Washington Park, home to the International Rose Test Garden, the Japanese Garden, and miles of scenic hiking trails. Forest Park, one of the largest urban forests in the United States, is also just a short distance away, offering a beautiful escape into nature.

Public transportation is readily accessible, with several bus lines and the Portland Streetcar nearby, making it easy to explore other parts of the city. Downtown Portland, the Alberta Arts District, and the Historic Mississippi Avenue offer more neighborhoods to explore, each offering their own unique character and attractions.

Staying here means you’ll be immersed in the best that Portland has to offer, from its vibrant culinary scene to its lush parks and cultural hotspots. We hope you enjoy your stay and all the wonderful experiences this neighborhood has to offer!

Getting Around:

🚶 Walking — The Nob Hill / Alphabet District is one of Portland's most walkable neighborhoods. NW 23rd and NW 21st avenues are lined with restaurants, boutiques, cafes, and bars.

🚌 Bus — TriMet Route 15 (Belmont/NW 23rd) runs along NW 23rd Avenue with frequent service to downtown.

🚲 Biking — BIKETOWN bike-share is available in Portland; check its map for current nearby bikes and stations.

🚗 Driving — Street parking is available (read signs for time limits and meters). Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is another option.

✈️ Airport — PDX is reachable by car or MAX Red Line; check TriMet’s trip planner for connections from the neighborhood.

Other Things to Note:

The home sits behind the NW 21st storefronts and shares a wall with a bar. Business/street noise and outside lights can be noticeable, and downstairs bed frames can creak. Steps are required, and the loft has low, sloped ceilings. Keep belongings indoors rather than leaving them unattended on the patio.

There is no reserved parking; paid curb spaces have posted time limits and meter rules. Plan to use one shower at a time, as simultaneous use can reduce upstairs water pressure.

Great neighborhood. Nice house, clean. Be advised that the host requires an ID verification process (2x) that seems to maintain both a copy of your ID and face. I would have liked to know about the biometrics requirement prior to booking. That is the only reason for 4 stars versus 5.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the home and the neighborhood. I really appreciate you mentioning the ID verification process. It is handled securely through a third-party service, and we started using it after dealing with several cases of fraud and chargebacks that cost us thousands. I know it is not ideal, and I completely understand your concern. It disappoints me too that it adds any extra steps to the guest experience. I am always open to suggestions on how to make it smoother while keeping things safe for everyone. Thank you again for your understanding and kind words.
