About this property
Modern Hawthorne Studio - Food Carts & Local Shops
Summary:
My apartment is in the heart of the eclectic Hawthorne District, walking distance to Portland's best restaurants, cafes, bookstores, brew-pubs, distilleries, and artisan shops. You'll also find services, from banks to massage therapists, just over a mile from downtown by bike, walking, or bus. The interiors have a sleek, European feel with high-grade finishes. Note that there may be noise from neighboring units, we offer earplugs and a noise machine for a restful night!
The Space:
The exterior of the building promises to stand out amidst the sea of uniform structures popping up throughout the city. With rusted metal siding blending seamlessly with painted stucco panels and black, burned Japanese Shou Sugi Ban wood, it creates a signature look that will catch the eye of anyone traveling down Hawthorne Boulevard. The building is perfectly positioned between the vibrant commercial sector of Hawthorne and leafy side streets filled with residential architectural masterpieces from the past 120 years.
The interiors are designed to evoke a sleek, soothing European feel, featuring the highest-grade surfaces and finishes. Enjoy the comfort of mini-split heating and cooling, stainless steel appliances (including dishwashers), in-unit washer/dryers, 9-foot ceilings, and expansive windows that flood the space with natural light. The stunning cabinetry with glittering quartz countertops adds a touch of elegance, making this a truly unique and luxurious living experience.
Thanks for considering our place, we hope to welcome you soon!
Guest Access:
You will have access to my studio apartment on the second floor!
The Neighborhood:
Commonly known as “Foodie Row,” the Hawthorne/Buckman District puts you within walking distance of a wide variety of top-notch local flavors (no chain restaurants here!). Make new friends over vegan poutine fries and grilled PB&Js at the Cartopia food cart pod, dive into some wings at Fire on the Mountain, share a pie at Apizza Scholls (consistently voted Portland’s favorite pizza), or enjoy a fancy night out at Castagna—all within a 1.5-mile stretch.
Portland isn't just for foodies. The vibrant indie spirit of Hawthorne is alive with plenty of made-in-Oregon shops and boutiques to explore in this hipster haven. Catch a movie at the Bagdad Theater and Pub, a revamped 1920s theater turned view-and-brew venue serving local McMenamins food and microbrews. If bar hopping through neighborhoods isn’t your idea of fun, head up to Mt. Tabor, a 196-acre city park on top of a dormant volcano vent, where you’ll find miles of hiking trails and incredible panoramic views of the city. Enjoy the best of Portland’s unique charm and vibrant culture in the Hawthorne/Buckman District!
Getting Around:
This prime location offers various convenient transportation options to help you explore the city with ease.
With a walk score of 90, the neighborhood is highly walkable, allowing you to easily access a wide range of dining, shopping, and entertainment options just a short stroll away. Enjoy a leisurely walk to nearby cafes, restaurants, boutique shops, and parks that capture the unique charm of Portland.
Portland is renowned for its bike-friendly infrastructure, and with a bike score of 98, you’ll find it exceptionally easy to explore the city on two wheels. Numerous bike lanes and the BIKETOWN bike share program provide ample opportunities for cycling. There are bike racks nearby for secure parking, and the neighborhood’s flat terrain and scenic streets make biking a particularly enjoyable mode of transportation.
TriMet, Portland’s public transit system, is an excellent way to get around. The #14 and #15 bus lines run close to SE 19th Ave, offering convenient access to downtown Portland and other key areas. Additionally, the nearby Portland Streetcar and MAX Light Rail stations provide efficient options for reaching different parts of the city.
Rideshare services like Uber and Lyft are readily available in the area, offering a convenient way to travel further afield or when you’re in a hurry. Traditional taxis can also be hailed or scheduled in advance, providing another reliable transportation option.
If you have a car, on-street parking is available, though it may be limited during peak hours. Be sure to check the parking signs for any restrictions. For longer stays or guaranteed spots, there are nearby parking garages and lots that offer hourly or daily rates.
Portland also has several car-sharing services, such as Zipcar and Getaround, providing the flexibility of a rental car without the need for traditional rental agencies.
With these transportation options, you'll find it easy to navigate Portland and enjoy all the city has to offer. Enjoy your stay and happy exploring!
