Great little place

Loved the stay here, nice little cabin. Not equipped with a lot of fire tools or wood but very well maintained and great quiet lake to rest on.

It would have been nice for a little more communication before arrival. But that's a small thing compared to the Great trip we had. Wonderful location easy to get to and easy to get out of

The beds were the most comfortable that I've ever experienced on vacation. The hot tub was being repaired on the day we arrived and the management reached out immediately to tell us. We appreciate the clear communication and attention to detail. The weather was snowy and the mgmt cleared out the driveway twice in the 4 days we were there. Everything was so prompt and meticulously cared for. Will definitely be back!

Overall, this is a really nice cabin by the lake. The view is gorgeous and it’s very quiet. We loved the paddle boards and kayaks. The shared property is a little bit weird, especially the lake loft. Fire pit is right in front of the cabin. Luckily the couple staying there were quite nice. One downside is that the bathroom is on the first floor and the bedrooms are on the second floor, which is a little bit inconvenient if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The spiral staircase is a bit iffy, we mostly used the outdoor stairs. I gave four stars for the check-in process because they send you a text with a link just hours before your actual check-in as the cell service is spotty, this is a bit risky and I was a little stressed being able to download the link to get in, although it worked out fine. The water smells like sulfur and is not drinkable, although they do provide a Britta water filter. Internet spotty but it’s pretty rural.

Karen, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a thoughtful review! I’m really glad you enjoyed your stay and were able to make the most of the peaceful setting and time by the lake. We are very upfront in the listing about the shared nature of the property, though I completely understand that the setup can still feel a little different once you’re there in person. I also appreciate you sharing the rest of your experience so openly. Regardless, I’m so glad you enjoyed your time with us, and we’d be happy to welcome you back again! - Paula, Heirloom Vacations

Cute property with beautiful view

The lake view was beautiful. We had a great interaction with the sweet neighbors. The place is cozy and would definitely stay again but the spiral stairs being the only indoor stairs, I probably wont bring small children as small as toddlers.

Cozy Cabin

My wife and I stayed with our son over the Easter weekend. The cabin is clean, the beds were very comfortable and the kitchen is everything you need to cook all 3 meals a day there if you wanted. The lake is only about 50 feet from the door. Sadly, it was still early in the season so it was too chilly for us to play in the lake, but I bet it's really nice in the summer.

I'd love to welcome you back when the weather is warmer so you can enjoy everything the lake has to offer! -Michelle

Happy family time!

We really enjoyed our family time at the cabin! It’s clean, the decor is nice and the kitchen is well stocked with utensils. It should be noted the bedrooms are up the spiral stairs and the bath is down which could be a problem for some with mobility issues. The experience was enhanced by seeing the Northern Lights, making s’mores in the firepit, kayaking and catching many fish right off the dock!

Everything we needed

Everything was clean and the place was everything we needed that made it a better selection than a hotel. The only constructive criticism I would offer is to let the potential guests know there are two separate rented areas onsite. It didn’t bother us that other people were there, but I’m sure there are guests who wouldn’t approve of the surprise.

Chill Spot by the Lake!

Overall we enjoyed our stay at this house and Grand Lake! It was a good home base for exploring the North Shore and surrounding area. Paddle boarding on the calm lake in the evening was a highlight of the trip. We also enjoyed having a fire each night by the lake to roast s'mores. The house was clean and outfitted with the things we needed to cook and eat. We didn't love sharing the property with another cabin/guests and probably wouldn't have booked here if we had read the property description more closely, but it wasn't really a problem, just a little awkward at times.

The view was beautiful and the amenities such as laundry facilities, sauna, fire pit, etc. were great to have. We were also afforded an early check in as we came from a distance and then had an event in Duluth at 5:30 so the early check in was appreciated. One member of our party has some mobility issues, however, she was determined to master the spiral staircase. By the end of our 3 days she could get up those steps in less than a minute. We did have some difficulty with the locks in gaining access, and then in locking as we left. Also we were not able to find sufficient cleaning supplies such as the broom. And, perhaps it was the season, (mid October) but there seemed to be an inordinate amount of flies and Asian beetles in the home. I am not sure of the source. We did locate a fly swatter.
