We were two families, gathered for our son and daughter's wedding nearby, so it was great to have space to spread out and a nice big dining room and table for meals. The owner was ultra-responsive to needs and requests.

Cynthia - We work hard to make sure the entire house is clean and ready for our guests. Thanks for letting us know about your experience concerning the coffee pots. This is the first time in our 15 year history that this has happened. We will review our kitchen cleaning to match the high standard of clean you experienced in the rest of the house!
Thanks for your comments!
Loved the many bedrooms and bathrooms for everyone in a big family. Enjoyed the starry night and the quiet of the neighborhood. Nice nest after a full day of hiking at beautiful Acadia. Ray is a very reliable person, very fast in responding.
The Farmhouse advertised in this listing lived up to its charm and comfort for our stay. It was the perfect place for us to explore Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island without the intense crowds and cost in Bar Harbor itself. We would return to this place in a heartbeat!
The property was spacious and very clean. . Host was easy to get in touch with . Plenty of room for everyone. Enjoyed our stay. Would stay again if in the area.
This is a wonderful (old) house with lots of space. The bedrooms are nicely separate, making it perfect for any group of people that would like some level of privacy. The outdoor fire pit is especially nice. It is 25-30 minute distance from Acadia and Bar Harbor, which we did not find an obstacle. It has a large dinging room table perfect for dinner and games. The kitchen is well furnished. Really perfect for a family visit to Acadia.
We had a wonderful stay at this cozy farmhouse in the country. Our host, Ray, told us the rich history of the house which made it even more special. The beds were very comfortable, and the house was very clean! It was a perfect place for our family to gather. The nearby town of Ellsworth offered plenty of restaurants, and the 30 minute drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia was beautiful!!
The house is very charming and comfortable especially the beds! We slept very well! It's not too far from all the places we wanted to visit (Bar Harbor & Acadia State Park). The area is quiet and relaxing and the host, Ray, is very nice and easy to communicate with. The water pressure took a bit to fully kick in but that's all. Beautiful place to stay. Loved the house!
Great location half-way between Winter Harbor and Bar Harbor. The house is nicely decorated, spacious, very clean and had everything we needed. It's located in a very pretty, quiet neighborhood. The sun room was perfect to set up a puzzle table. We had a camp fire one nit in the fire pit. We would definitely love to stay there again.
Everything about this property was as expected. Quaint and peaceful. The house was clean and fit our family perfectly. Ray was very kind and helpful throughout the process. We very much appreciate all he and his wife did to make this vacation possible for us and our fur babies đź’•
We spent a week in this house while visiting Acadia at peak season. We were 5 adults and 1 dog. The house is a quirky old farm house that was clean and inviting upon arrival. Communication with host worked well and the kitchen was well equipped. Our favorite part was being away from the crowds inside desert island and the close proximity to Lamoine beach - we ended up going there every morning and every night.
I think the homeaway fees charged are high compared to the value offered.

I have control of the price per day or week of the rental, but not the Homeaway fees charged beyond that. However, there is a 9% State of Maine lodging tax which is included in the Homeaway fee.

Comfy, Convenient, Caring Owner
Family of 6, 2 grandparents, 2 grandchildren, 2 parents. We totally loved our stay at the Farmhouse! 3 full baths, modern kitchen, washer, dryer, and plenty of space were just what we needed. Easy to watch movies, play games, prepare and eat meals. Attentive and caring owner answered any questions we had. Convenient location to Bangor, Ellsworth, MDI, yet not on a busy highway. We loved it!

Mary and Duane were wonderful guests. I'm so glad we were able to host their family for vacation...one that allowed them to make some great memories!
The house is as described, old and with lots of character. Kitchen is completely updated and stocked with more cooking supplies than any other house we have rented. The syn room always had a nice breeze. The girls hung out in there while the guys took over the living room. Would have liked another comfy chair in the sunroom, but you can't have everything. Great having a washer and dryer to use. Just far enough away from Acadia to get out of the crowds and easy to go to town for supplies.

Beautiful home--A perfect getaway
Beautiful home--a perfect getaway for anyone interested in Acadia and Bar Harbor without the crowds of Bar Harbor. I've had the pleasure of watching the house progress from an antique farmhouse to a beautiful, charming, cozy home. The owners might have kept the old New England farmhouse look, but they have done an incredible job of updating this home. The updates (including colors) throughout the house provide the rustic, relaxing feel of Maine with the vibe, pep, and necessities of a modern home. The owners have done a fabulous job keeping the rustic feel while allowing for modern amenities. The brand new kitchen, spacious living room, and relaxing sunroom provide the comfort and quality of a home away from home. The bedrooms provide further relaxation with a different color scheme for each room. This house is the perfect getaway for anyone interested in Acadia and Bar Harbor, without the chaos and prices of Mount Desert Island.

We're so glad that the farmhouse has been "home" to many families on vacation. We've tried to keep the house charming while making it comfortable and welcoming. Come spend a week or more and enjoy the area and all that Acadia has to offer.

a wonderful stay
After a long trip and many hotels it was a pleasure to arrive at the farmhouse with all its extra room. The owner had the bedroom prepared for us and was very helpful in providing information about the area and restaurants. He gave us good information on Acadia National Park & we made several trips to the beautiful park. We also had Lamoine Beach & State Park within 5 minutes of the house. We enjoyed the area and found Finns, Governors and Jaspers to have excellent food. We went to the local airport which was about 10 minutes away & took a plane tour of Acadia & the surrounding area. The spacious home could have easily accomodated three more couples or families with children. The farmhouse was rustic in design but had all the modern amenities while still holding its charm & comfort. Our dog especially enjoyed the large yard and we loved the quiet neighborhood. We rate it five stars. *****

The PERFECT house for our large family
We had a wonderful week at the farmhouse. What a comfortable house, full of charm and nooks and crannies! Our six grown children were with us, and fit very comfortably into the house while feeling as if they had their own space. The doors between the rooms really helped to keep noise down and give privacy. For instance, the upstairs queen bedroom is open, at the end of an open staircase from the first floor. With doors on the first floor bedrooms and on the dining area, very little noise got upstairs. Three good size bathrooms, 2 with tubs, meant no lines, no wait! Also, as other reviewers noted, a well-stocked newish kitchen with a nice gas stove. Washer and dryer are right in the kitchen, another nice feature. Also, we appreciated Lamoine, too. We spent much of our time in Acadia, and it is a bit of a drive, but it is also nice to leave the hustle and bustle of the Park and Bar Harbor. Anything lacking? No (well, maybe an apron for the chief cook and bottle washer...). Would we rent this house again? In a heartbeat!

We are fortunate to be located in Lamoine and have such close access to Lamoine State Park and Lamoine Beach. They are jewels we enjoy in our "backyard." We're glad the house was large enough to give everyone space and privacy.
It never occurred to me to have an apron for the chef. That will be remedied tomorrow!
We enjoyed staying at the farmhouse! It was plenty big for our family of four and my parents! My parents were on the first floor while my husband and I, along with our kids took the second floor bedrooms. We are tall so the ceilings being slanted was a challenge but not too big of a deal, there were plenty of towels and linens and everything was clean! We went to the Lamoine beach a couple of times during our week long stay, which was free, but no facilities, but it was great to swim and explore the beach for evidence of sea life. We also visited bar harbor a couple of times as well, great restaurants, we liked Blaze and Finback! And the ice cream was awesome too! The farmhouse was comfortable and the kids even had their own place to play in the sun room, we played music there and barbecued and even made a fire at nighttime and ate s’mores! We brought the kiddos bikes but never really used them, the street was on the busier side, but we kept busy anyways so we didn’t notice too much! We also tried out deep sea fishing while we visited in Bar Harbor, that was fun and it was for a few hours where they taught us how to fish and they supplied all of the necessary gear, really nice couple who ran the excursion, Esther and Jim! The kitchen was nice and we made a lot of meals there, they had pretty much everything we needed! Overall, it was a great stay and the owner was super nice and helpful before we rented! Thanks Ray! Your home was very charming! We had fun!

We enjoyed having the Bartlings at the farmhouse. They were great. They communicated well and we would happily have them return. The farmhouse does have its charm and the 2nd floor ceilings do slant. They hold the character of the old house while maximizing the upstairs space. The road the farmhouse is on gets a little busy in the evening with folks coming home from work. There is a nice area for kids to play and ride bikes at the elementary school just 1/4 mile from the house. It has a playground as well for the kids. Lamoine Beach, a local beach only a few minutes from the house, is a wonderful place to take the kids swimming. They have no running water. However, there is an outhouse available tucked in the woods, just of the parking area...it's easy to miss. They have grills and picnic tables there too. Another wonderful place for kids to play is Lamoine State Park. It's on the same road as the beach. It not only has a wonderful playground, it also has a picnic area near the water. One can watch the lobster fishermen as they pull traps and as they return from a day on the water.
Roomy for our family and pet needs. We'll appointed kitchen. Plenty of linens. Clean and tidy. Appreciate the attention to the property wi th regular mowing and other maintenance. We will definitely be back!
The farmhouse was great! The space and the bedrooms worked out really well for our family group. Had everything we needed in the kitchen. Communication with Ray was great.
My wife and I bought this farmhouse because we saw the potential it had and wanted to remodel it to to make it a space we would enjoy. It is a wonderful old house with lots of history. It took way too long to remodel...8 years. It was a wonderful project and we enjoyed the entire process. As we remodeled it, we wanted to do it in a way that we'd be very happy and comfortable to live there ourselves. We've succeeded in doing that. The house has all new plumbing, heating, electrical, windows, roof, kitchen, 2 new bathrooms. The floors were sanded to bring out the original beauty of the wood. In addition, there were 3 roof windows added for additional light. There are 2 staircases, one to each upstairs bedrooms. We enjoy sharing the farmhouse with others. It's uniquely different with all it's many doors, plaster walls, old-house charm.
Why they chose this property
Since we live just down the road, we felt this property made sense to purchase. We knew the previous owner and wanted to continue to care and appreciate the house as he did. His family had owned it for 2 generations, and their family added the dustpan dormer on the front of the house to enlarge the upstairs bedroom. They loved the house and it has been a wonderful house to remodel. The house is on a quiet road and perfect for enjoying family and friends.
What makes this property unique
Off the kitchen there is a nice shed or mud room, if the weather is inclement, it is a place to take off wet clothes or muddy shoes and boots. The farmhouse also has a unique white cast-iron farmhouse style kitchen sink, large with cast-iron sideboards on either side of the sink. There are many nooks and crannies that are exciting and unusual for the kids to explore. It truly is one-of-a-kind farmhouse.
