Hatley Pointe Resort is located just within the gates of Wolf Laurel and an easy 5 minute drive from the Cabin. Hatley Pointe offers year round dining, music and wellness in addition to boutique skiing in the winter. Be sure to check out Smoke and Timber, their new restaurant and The Pointe Wellness Retreat.
Despite being close to the Wolf Laurel club house, we are secluded and love to hunker down on the outdoor porches, the fire pit or by the indoor fireplace. During the Winter, we are one of the most accessible Cabins as all roads and the driveways are paved and plowed after snow. Be aware Wolf Laurel Roads & Security may require a 4 wheel drive vehicle during hazardous weather, but it has not been a issue.
Besides the normal stuff (golf, skiing, fitness center and Club Dining/Bar), hiking the App Trail with access from inside the gates of Wolf Laurel has been our favorite. We do venture outside the gate as there are so many great day trips (in addition to Asheville): Burnsville; Hot Springs; Little Switzerland (Blue Ridge Parkway) for lunch; and River Rafting. But the greatest amenity is beautiful Big Bald Mountain, Hatley Pointe and the App Trail which are all minutes away from the Cabin.
NOTE: Golf Course and Club Dining are open 5/1-10/30.
The Cabin: On the main level, you walk into an all-white pine, vaulted ceiling open design that immediately ushers you into the mountain experience. Leather couches and chair around the fireplace is where most of the indoor relaxing is done except during March Madness when the guys camp out to watch the 60' Sony. The dining area is also beautifully furnished with two matching china cabinets and a large dining room table that seats 8-10. A fully equipped modern kitchen is bordered by a bar that seats 3 and large counter that seats 4 more. Plenty of china, serving dishes, wine glasses and cooking utensils that will accommodate a large & special dinner party. There is a powder room on the main level. A large Master is also on the main level. Elegant matching Pine Furniture and King Bed adds to the mountain flavor. Guests like to use the huge walkin closet for an extra crib or blowup bed for young children. The beautiful master bath has double sinks, a jacuzzi bath, shower and tile floor.
The lower level has two more large bedrooms with large closets. Both are beautifully furnished with queen beds, in addition the rear bedroom has wonderful bunk beds. A full bath is accessible to the bedrooms and den/playroom. The lower level has a computer center (with WiFi), a media center (TV/DVD/Games) with 2 couches (one a queen pullout) and a large round game table great for that late night poker game. Also on the lower level is full washer/dryer, downstair's refrigerator and all the fishing/camping and other sports equipment you'll need. You can also find a pack-n-play, highchair and stroller stored in the storage closet.
Huge porches run the full length of the upper and lower levels and provide a wonder view the 10th fairway and the mountains. On the upper porch are rocking chairs and a large teak table and seating that can accommodate 8-10 for covered outdoor dining. One other area we use a lot is the stone patio off the lower level which has a fire pit. Smores is a favorite for the grands.
Keywords: Beautifully constructed and furnished Log Home that is the closest Cabin to great dining and spectacular golf at the Wolf Laurel Country Club. Don't golf? Then you may enjoy skiing at Hatley Pointe. But once you get inside this quiet retreat, you'll probably just want to enjoy it's beauty and restful quiet. For the hiker, don't forget that the App Trail is a quick walk away.

I fell in love with my college sweetheart in 1965 and were married in 1968 (you do the math). We raised 4 children (all married now-9 grands) on the water in Savannah, GA. We love the coast but over the past 18 years we've come to know the peace and beauty of the Mountains-particularily at Wolf Laurel/Big Bald Mountain/Hatley Point. We purchased the Cabin in 2006 and then a house on the other side of the Mountain in 2011 (MiMi got tired of picking up after the boys)! We also love being so close to the Club! Our children and grands have made so many memories here its hard to count.
Why they chose this property
Great for the Grands and Close to everything that is happening at Wolf Laurel and Hatley Point. Kids & Grands have grown up here, learned to ski here & all attended Mountain Camp.
What makes this property unique
Love sitting by the fire, wine on the porches, skiing the mountain and cooking smores at the fire pit.
