About this property

Perfect 2000 Sq/ft Cape On Dead-end St, 5 Min To Beach & Nickerson & Rail-trail

This full Cape was built in the 1960s by an antique home restoration tradesman. The first and second floor were built true to the plans and architecture of an antique Cape style home, the finished walk-out basement is a modern amenity included for it's practical nature.
This home is truly unique, and upon entering you will be transported back in time, first to a more formal colonial era on the first floor, with the wrought-iron door hardware and thumb-latch door catches, the wide pine floors, the nine-over-six windows, the era-appropriate wallpaper in the living room and the butcher block counter tops. As you climb the stairway to the second floor the transition to a more rudimentary and rustic way of life will encompass you. From the rough plaster walls to the reclaimed exposed wood beams and floors, to the blacksmith forged hardware on every door and cabinet, it feels like you are in another time period. Every room is drenched with character, from the angled storage cabinetry in the third bedroom to the 'secret' passageway that passes between two of the rooms (We'll say no more, this is for you to discover!), to the tiny window that looks down upon the mudroom from the master bedroom. The basement is another world entirely, with its 55 drawer antique apothecary cabinet built in (discover what is in the drawers!) to the additional custom cabinetry and beautiful pine floors. Outside, there is an abundance of parking with a large private yard, and the home is on a dead-end street with no more than 9 homes past ours, so traffic is extremely minimal. We have met many of our neighbors, and they are friendly, welcoming and helpful. This is truly the perfect place for your Cape Cod vacation.

A 5-minute car ride from this unique three-story home brings you to sweeping Crosby Landing or Linnell Lane Beaches, considered Brewster's best by many. Both are beautiful and sandy bay side beaches with gentle waves for younger children. At low tide, the water recedes and leaves the Brewster Flats exposed -- a fun place to walk and explore nature or go for an evening stroll and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

This house is part of a quiet, upscale, East Brewster neighborhood. It is the ideal summer vacation location for a large single family, a multi-generational family or two young families. A 5-minute bike ride (you may use any of the six nearly-new Specialized Expedition bicycles, added this year) takes you to the Cape Cod Rail Trail. From here its a 5 minute ride to Nickerson State Park, or less than a 10 minute ride to Crosby Landing Beach. Once on the Rail Trail you can ride for miles in either direction. You can use the Rail Trail for short adventures, like going for a Smoothie at the Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans, or day-long outings, such as riding to the National Seashore in Eastham with its stunning broad beaches right on the Atlantic.

Back at the house, there's plenty of space to spread out and comfortable furnishings where everyone in your group can relax. Each bedroom and the basement have window air conditioning window units to keep you cool on those hot summer days.

The main floor has beautiful wide-pine floors in almost every room, a spacious living room and formal dining room with corner hutch. Your entire group will comfortably fit around the large dining table on those occasions when you're not dining outside on the roomy and private deck. The bright spacious kitchen with lots of natural light and butcher block counter top is extremely well-equipped and includes all the dishes, utensils, pots, pans and tools you will need to make that perfect meal including your classic cape vacation lobster dinner. The rustic mudroom with a cathedral ceiling, exposed wood beams, and lots of natural light is just off the kitchen through two large French doors which can be left open to join these two rooms as one. The main level also has a bright master bedroom with a queen-sized bed with plenty of closet space and a full bath with heated wide pine flooring.

The upper level of the house provides a second full bath. There are also three more bedrooms, which contain lots of natural light, wide pine flooring, and vaulted ceilings with exposed wood beams. Two bedrooms are furnished with queen-sized beds and the third with two twin-sized beds. Each of the three bedrooms on this level have plenty of closet space for you to store all your belongings.

The spacious basement is set up as an entertainment/recreation area and contains a Ping-Pong table, a new (June 2020) TCL 55" Roku smart television, plenty of comfortable seating including a beautiful leather sofa, and a daybed with trundle which sleeps two. It has wide pine flooring, a third full bath, and the walls are a combination of windows with a walkout door, and exquisite custom made cabinetry. This is a great place to hang out on a rainy day or after returning from a busy day of exploring or biking or a casual day spent at the beach. It also makes an ideal separate play space for kids and is a perfect family/TV room.

Outside is the custom built (by the owner) "Shabby Chic Pallet/Teak Shower Shack, with a changing bench - the perfect place to clean off after a day at the beach. The large deck with it's gas grille provides a convenient place for your outdoor grilling, with plenty of provides comfortable seating and a locking gate to keep your toddlers safe.

We purchased this property in November 2016, after a long search for a cape home that would suit all of our desires. Our intention is to rent on-season and eventually retire to this home. We wish to share this property with anyone who will enjoy, respect, and care for it as we do.

Why they chose this property

To the vacation home seeker,
This home is truly unique, and upon entering you will be transported back in time, first to a more formal colonial era on the first floor, with it's wrought-iron door hardware and thumb-latch door catches, the wide pine floors, the era-appropriate wallpaper in the living room and the butcher block countertops. From the rough plaster walls to the reclaimed exposed wood beams and floors, to the blacksmith forged hardware on every door and cabinet, it feels like you are in another time period. Every room is drenched with character, from the angled storage cabinetry in the third bedroom to the 'secret' passageway that passes between two of the rooms (I'll say no more, this is for you to discover!), to the tiny window that looks down upon the mudroom from the master bedroom. The basement is another world entirely, with its 55 drawer antique apothecary cabinet built in (discover what is in the drawers!) to the additional custom cabinetry and beautiful wide pine floors. There is even a fireplace in the basement (non-functional) but it certainly adds to the character and beauty of this space. Outside, there is an abundance of parking, a large private yard, and the home is on a dead-end street with no more than 9 homes past ours, so traffic is extremely minimal. We have met many of our neighbors, and they are friendly, welcoming and helpful. This is truly the perfect place for your Cape Cod vacation. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
Sincerely,
Fred and Carol
