A newly available gem. This wooded, 3-bedroom lake retreat is located on 100 ft of East Torch Lake waterfront, offering clear blue water, stunning sunsets and a perfect spot to enjoy bonfires on the beach, morning coffee on the deck and a sunset glass of wine.
The cottage is spacious and accessible with an open floor plan, fully equipped kitchen (with a new induction range and butcher block island) dining room perfect for large family gatherings. There is a full bathroom and bedroom (queen bed) on the first floor and 2 roomy bedrooms upstairs (2 full beds in one and 2 twin over full bunk beds and a twin in the other) each with it’s own en-suite full bathroom. All 3 bedrooms face the water, offering beautiful breezes and peaceful nights, listening to the waves. The property has Wi-Fi and is conveniently located near Clam River with easy access to a boat ramp, water sport rentals, and the famous Dockside, a great spot for a beer and burger, watching the boats go by. A 70’ dock and swimming platform offers you a place to tie up your water toys, or just laze in the sunshine. We just added a new washer and dryer for your convenience.

If you want to venture out, you are close to all the beauty and fun Northwest Michigan has to offer. Nestled between Traverse City and Charlevoix (30 miles each way) there are charming local shops and restaurants to explore as well as world class golfing, wineries and breweries, Lake Michigan beaches, hiking trails, and parks.

We are located in a family neighborhood and your respectful adherence to quiet hour's is appreciated. This cottage has a spiral staircase potentially presenting a challenge for older and vey young guests.

Wonderful Lakefront Getaway for the Whole Family

We recently stayed at this Torch Lake home with a group of nine — including my wife, our infant daughter, our dog, and extended family — and had a fantastic time. The property is tucked away in the woods, offering a quiet, peaceful atmosphere while still being right on the water — exactly what we were looking for.The home is older but very clean and well-maintained, with plenty of space and beds for everyone in our group to feel comfortable. The beachfront access and private dock were hands-down the best features. Being able to go for a swim, sit on the deck, or watch the sunset over the lake whenever we pleased was incredible. The s’mores bag waiting for us at check-in was a great personal touch.The surrounding Alden area is always charming, with great local shops, restaurants, and bars nearby. The house was stocked with helpful amenities, and the host was extremely responsive and accommodating throughout the stay.A few things to note: the house interior is a bit dated, and there's no A/C, which might be worth considering depending on the time of year. Also, the spiral staircase — while unique — was a bit tricky for both little ones and older adults. The checkout instructions were fairly detailed, especially regarding laundry, so just be sure to plan a little extra time on your departure day.That said, we’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a true lakefront experience. With some minor modern updates over time, this spot will continue to be a gem.

Why they chose this property

Northern Michigan, particularly the Torch Lake area, is a spectacular place. We are close to hiking and biking trails, swimming and boating on Torch Lake or in nearby Lake Michigan, rivers for fly fishing, sleeping bear dunes, wineries, breweries, fresh local produce. We are also in the midst of Traverse City, Charlevoix and Elk Rapids with concerts, live theater, shopping and dining.

What makes this property unique

We have 100 feet of beautiful sandy beach on the desirable east side of Torch Lake (the sunset side). There is public access with another 100 feet directly north of us, offering open views and easy use of the waterfront
