About the host

The Fab 4 House is the dream venture of my husband and i, owners Tom and Kathy. This amazing community is quite different from Cleveland, OH, where I grew up. My husband and I moved to the Cary, NC area over 30 years ago. Loved the climate and proximity to the beaches and mountains. We both love to cook and entertain so we added places in the home and outside that make entertaining easy and enjoyable.

Why they chose this property

I am an avowed mid-century modern fan, growing up in the 60's and have long wanted a place to showcase the beauty of the era and its unique design. I came across this charming 1960s-era house and knew it would be perfect to remodel in mid-century modern style. Plus, it was just around the corner – literally – from the quirky, artsy, electric village of historic Saxapahaw, which itself had recently undergone a revitalization. That, coupled with the scenic beauty of the area and the laid-back peacefulness of the Haw River, made the house an excellent choice for an ideal pairing of old and new.

What makes this property unique

It is the community of Saxapahaw that drew us in. Our neighboring small farms grow vegetables and raise livestock that supply the 2 gourmet restaurants in the village. There are incredible live music performance in the Haw River Ballroom.
