Lovely 3-br home on east side of crystal-clear Torch Lake

Enjoy beautiful sunsets over Torch Lake from this 3 bedroom, 2 full-bath, ranch-style home. Easy walking distance along a quiet, dead-end street into quaint village of Alden. Boasting 140' of lake front access and spacious living, dining, and kitchen with open floor plan - this home is great for family fun. Well-appointed kitchen features electric stove, dishwasher and usual appliances (e.g., blender, coffee maker, etc.) plus washer/dryer. Stone patio faces the lake. Attached one and half car garage with automatic door-opener has room for car and gear. Short dock gives easy access to lake.

Landscaping is attractive and yard offers plenty of space for picnics, games, sun-bathing, etc. Off-shore/short dock mooring of small boats is available but over-night not encouraged because of the size of the lake. Larger power boats can be launched from conveniently located town dock. Friendly and helpful owners live across the road and reserve the dock and yard area adjacent to the rental home for personal use. Neighbors are considerate. Renters will enjoy the relaxed setting.

Bring gear for lots of nearby activities: hiking, biking, fishing, water sports (boat parking available), golfing - just to name a few. Located near Torch River and DeWitt Marina, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, Boyne or the Leelanau Peninsula-- all are just a short drive away. Day-trips to Sleeping Bear Dunes are easy too.

Details: Master bedroom has queen bed; Bedroom 1 has queen; Bedroom 2 has set of twin beds. and a double. New mattresses/boxed springs purchased for all but the master bedroom (which was replaced earlier) in 2019. Pillows new in 2020. Living room pull-out-sofa provides additional sleeping room. Dining table seats eight. Screened-in porch has dinning for 6. Linen and towels included. Rooms are carpeted with the exception of the kitchen, dining area and porch. Cable TV, WiFi, and garbage pick-up included.

great lake getaway

Comfortable house in a great location by the lake and a short walk from Alden. Hosts were helpful and encouraged us to use their kayak, paddle board, windsurfer, and water skis. We had a great time!

Peace and Quiet

Lovely secluded property, with everything you will need for a stress free vacation. Hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating, permitting the use of all of their amenities....kayaks, canoes, paddleboards, etc.

Summer fun!

Our family really enjoyed our stay. May be our favorite rental yet. The location is PERFECT! Short walk to Alden for breakfast, park, ice cream, shopping and short trip by boat to the sandbar! House was bigger than expected, screened in porch was such a nice feature, owners were extremely nice and very quick to answer any questions! Kayak and paddle board were a bonus. We will be back! Thank you!

Torch Lake June 2023 Alden

Overall this was a wonderful property to spend the week. The house was in good condition, with new carpets, recently updated laundry, and well stocked kitchen. The owners allowed access to the garage and storage area where we could use the various water toys, gas grill, charcoal grill, and other useful add ons. This alone added immense value for us since we didn't need to haul those things with us. Dorthy and Bob are very nice hosts and accommodating. I would stay here again!

Great Property for our family

The property is located on a dead end street within short walking distance to Alden which made for great strolls to town for shopping, wine tasting, muffins & ice-cream. The boat launch was also right downtown so it was super quick and easy to drop in and take out our boat. We tied up to mooring at the house on calm nights but had to pull the boat out when winds picked up. East side of lake is definitely more impacted by winds - keep in mind if brining your boat. Owners live behind the house & are very helpful. The house itself is well equipped and very open and spacious. The screened porch was to die for! We spent all our meals out there, and had beautiful views of the sunset from the dock. We had a relaxing and wonderful time at this lovely home! Thank you Dorthy for hosting us!

Beautiful location on Torch Lake with screened in porch.

We enjoyed the porch many times, watching the lake, the sunsets, and sipping on wine with our friends. The cottage was cozy, very clean and had most everything we needed. The location was perfect, close to Alden and many other places we wanted to visit. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book again.

Perfect location

A group of friends and family stayed at Bob and Dorothy’s rental on the water. It was perfect! The location, view and house. Dorothy and Bob were very accommodating. There was 8 of us and the house was plenty big enough that we didn’t feel crowded when we were in the house. Would definitely rent the house again!!

Dorothy and Bob went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay in their lovely family cabin on the southeast shore of Torch Lake. We enjoyed kayaking, playing cornhole, and the fire pit at night.

Wonderful Torch Lake Memories

A beautiful, comfortable cottage. The beds slept well, the place was very clean and had everything that one would need for a vacation (even a drying rack in the garage for the never-ending parade of wet bathing suits). We rented a boat for our stay, and left it moored at the property most evenings, returning it to a dry dock when the weather was stormy. Torch lake is a gem, and this place has everything you need. The town of Alden is very cute, with great ice cream, etc. I would definitely stay here again.

One of the most relaxing vacation stays, ever!

Our stay was better than we ever expected. The home was large, well kept, and well stocked. The owners were the nicest hosts we have ever experienced. They were quick to show / tell us about spots for photography, eating out, breweries and finding eagles. The home came with the use of a kayak and paddle board, which my husband used numerous times. The screened porch was perfect for enjoying the late afternoon before sunset. Speaking of sunsets, they were absolutely wonderful. Every night! This property was a vacation in itself. No need to go anywhere else.

Fantastic!!

This is a great place for a vacation getaway - relatively secluded and beautifully situated on Torch Lake. The house is beautiful with wonderful accommodations. The three season porch is a super place for morning coffee or a hand of cards at the end of a tiring day. Bob and Dorothy were very accommodating hosts. Stayed here for a week with my wife, sister, and brother-in-law and we are already making plans for a return visit next summer. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all - I highly recommend this exquisite property!!

Clean, roomy, quiet, and waterfront

Our stay in Alden, MI was perfect. The house was lovely and the property was huge. Upon arrival, Dorothy and Bob took care to make sure that we were comfortable and that we knew various details of the house and the surrounding area. We were well taken care of! Alden and the surrounding area is very nice and we had a blast. One of the best vacations we have taken to date.

A True Gem on Torch Lake!

Our group consisted of 3 couples and this was our first visit to Torch Lake. We chose this home based on reviews. We could not have made a better choice, this was perfect for us! The owner, Dorothy, and her son were friendly and very helpful. The location is perfect! Close to Alden and the famous Torch Lake sand bar and breathtaking sunsets from the screened in patio. The home is exceptionally clean and well stocked. It is so well stocked and inviting, we felt more like we were visiting family than renting. There is plenty of room to cook and eat together and we never felt cramped. Unlike many rentals, there were plenty of sheets, towels .. everything we need right down to games. Even WiFi! Bellaire is a short drive away and we enjoyed Short's Brewery. Traverse City is only 30 minutes away and we enjoyed wine tastings on Mission Point and dinner at The Filling Station. Alden has stores and restaurants (don't miss the Alden Mill Kitchen Store!). There was easy, close access to drop our boats in Torch Lake. This home is an excellent choice for couples or families! We would give 6 stars if we could!

This property has been in our family for three generations, beginning as a cottage in the l930's, then established as a year-round residence for my parents, now owned jointly by my brother and myself. Please note: this property is occasionally offered on Craig's List. That listing is ALWAYS a scam. It has been flagged as a warning and reported to CL as a scam, but it keeps resurfacing.

Why they chose this property

This is an ideal place for a summer vacation. The lake is one of the most beautiful in the country, clear and very clean. The house is partially carpeted and all on one level (except for one step from the garage and then another into the porch) so that people of all ages can enjoy living comfortably.

What makes this property unique

This property has always been a source of great delight and pride for our family and friends. We look forward to sharing that with others.
