A Sneaky Bear's Hideaway is our most secluded cabin, located on a hill overlooking our lake.
A favorite of guests is the front deck overlooking a stream that becomes a waterfall. Guests frequently comment on how calming an experience it is to sit out and listen to the sound of the water.
The cabin has a very expansive great room, featuring an eighteen-foot cathedral ceiling and a gas fireplace. The kitchen is designed to appear as an outdoor cooking area, with granite countertops and accent lighting. A dining area features a one-of-a-kind dining table made by craftsmen who bring out the beauty in the wood. Our cabin is now equipped with up to 300Mbps fiber internet.
The cabin is situated so that both the morning and afternoon sun bathes the interior. Two bedrooms, both with individual bathrooms, provide a retreat from the living area. Each features its own French doors that allow you to watch the sunrise as you awaken to another wonderful day in this wonderful place. A boat or canoe can be rented in season (April–October) for an additional fee, pending availability.
Besides the cabin, there are many features of the property that you'll get to enjoy while staying here. From the caves, overhangs, and cliffs to the beautiful trees and waterfalls, it's hard to imagine ever being bored at our cabin rental. We promise you will want to return.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! We look forward to hosting you again
Went for a long weekend with my husband and two toddlers. Our stay was fantastic. Lovely cabin and amazing property. Spent a day doing the multiple trails which thoughtfully had areas to rest and have a snack. Drove 20 min to hiking areas around Natural Bridge. The boys loved feeding and watching the fish at our private fishing hut. Would highly recommend!
The cabin is wonderful.kitchen is well stocked with everything you need! The beds are comfy and the view is nice of the lake. We would visit again!

Website is very informative and accurate. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Property was clean and maintained. Family enjoyed both relaxing and activities there and in the area. We plan to book again.
I took my wife and 2 young children on a two day trip and we all had a wonderful time. The cabin was in great condition and clean. We particularly enjoyed the electric fireplace, short hiking trail up the hill near the driveway, and the nearby lake. The cabin was as advertised and we really enjoyed joyed the stay.

A breath of fresh air.
I can’t begin to say how much we adored this property. It was in perfect condition and provided the most relaxing atmosphere for my family. We are already planning our next stay!
This cabin was a wonderful place to stay for 2 couples. The cabin was very clean and kitchen was extremely well stocked. Catch & release fishing was very good. No issues at all. We can't wait for the chance to stay again.
This cabin, was by far, one of the BEST we’ve stayed in. From the cleanliness, to the quiet, and all the things to do just here on the property. Not far from getting your necessities and some out to eat food ( Miguel’s pizza was DELICIOUS) And really not far from all the hikes and activities (the gorge underground and Hollerroad UTV we did) The place was absolutely stunning and we all highly recommend it and would love to come back! Thank you for having us :)
Just loved the cabin. We stayed in the sneaky bear cabin. It was clean had everything you need. The view was awesome it is quiet there went fishing and put them back in. Saw two deer this morning before we left. I want to thank you very much
Beutiful property and land. Feel it does need another comfortable chair. Three adults on the couch is a little tight and some shades for windows in tv room when its sunny.Owner is wonderful with communication. I would highly recommend this cabin or any of the other properties she they one. Property is absolutly spectacular.
The cabin was beautiful and extremely clean with top of the line appliances. Although the weather was cold and rainy, we enjoyed warming up with the gas fireplace in the evening after a wet afternoon of hiking. Due to the rainy weather, we did not get to enjoy the boat or use the grill but would definitely stay at the property again in the future to do more hiking and enjoy all of the amenities. Also, we were able to navigate the gravel, hilly driveway with a 2-wheel drive vehicle without a problem.
Absolutely loved this cabin located close to the Red River Gorge. The cabin was located in a very quiet area overlooking a small lake and several other cabins. I would definitely stay there again.
I would have given this a 5 start rating however the cabin thermostat would not heat the cabin above 64 degrees. I sent the owner a message asking if it could be changed however never received a response.

First, we have no record of receiving a message from you. Secondly we suspect the thermostat you attempted to increase the heat to the building was the device which controls only the gas logs. That operates opposite of a regular thermostat in that if you raise the temperature the device won't heat until that temperature is reached. The heat pump thermostat was checked as is normal before you arrived and again immediately after you left and was found to be fully functional.
This was my first ever VRBO rental, and will do it again. This cabin was perfect for relaxation for my husband and I and another couple to try and recharge our batteries for a long weekend getaway. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed as if we were in our own home. Enjoyed the property and access to the pond for fishing. Owner was in contact with me prior to our stay. Thank you Fred for sharing your little slice of heaven in your valley with us. We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Sneaky Bear cabin.

Great Get Away!
The cabin was perfect! We brought our 7 year old for a long weekend and some nearby hiking and the cabin/property didn’t disappoint. We’ve rented many cabins over the years and this was definitely a favorite. The cabin was well maintained and very clean. It also had several nice touches you don’t often find like packets of coffee, plenty of supplies, and hairdryers and toiletries in both baths. We also enjoyed hiking around the property and seeing the caves and rock formations. I only wish we had more time to spend exploring and to try out the boat which we didn’t do. I definitely recommend this cabin if you’re in the area...5 stars!
My colleague and I were looking for a quiet, comfortable cabin for a writing retreat. We certainly found it with Sneaky Bear! We've stayed at a number of different cabins over the past couple of years as we've worked on our book, and this was far and away the best. The living area was spacious and the furniture comfortable. The bedrooms were large and had ample storage for clothing. Each bedroom had an en suite bathroom that felt like a spa experience because the showers were so amazing (seriously, we don't know how a remote cabin had such powerful water pressure). The beds were comfortable, as well, and although the frames were high, the owners thoughtfully provided small step stools to assist the vertically challenged like me (I'm 5' 4"). The kitchen was well equipped and easy to navigate; perhaps best of all, this kitchen had a dishwasher, which we've found to be rare in this area of Kentucky. There were comfortable outdoor seating areas and a nearby stream to provide the peaceful sound of running water to accompany our morning coffee on the deck. If we have a chance to come back to this area, we will definitely stay at Sneaky Bear again!
Our cabin was clean, it was supplied with all the necessary things we needed i.e. towels, a few toiletries, kitchen supplies etc. The bed was comfortable. Water pressure in the shower was very good. The TV selections are basic. The road getting into the cabin area is gravel. I'm very fussy about my car and was disappointed the road wasn't paved to the cabin. We had to drive very slow. The view from the balcony overlooking the lake is nice. It's the most sparsely decorated cabin I've ever stayed in. No pictures, games, magazines. Like the TV, very basic. When we arrived in the evening the code box was open and the key exposed, which gave us concern that someone could have entered the cabin that wasn't supposed to be in it. I contacted the owner and was told she forgot to shut the box. So all was well. Overall, our stay at Sneaky Bear was good and we enjoyed our time there.

We’re glad you enjoyed your time at our cabin. We don’t hide the gravel road; it’s on the information we send to every guest. Our cabins have YouTube TV with 100+ channels, Rokus, and high-speed internet. That said, we always encourage guests to explore the property’s caves and overhangs and enjoy a peaceful escape in nature. We’ve never had our decorations called basic before. We don’t clutter the cabin to let its natural beauty shine, like the hand-carved “Sneaky Bear” in the center pole of the cabin.
About the host
Hosted by Janice Austin
We started our business in 2011 to pursue our long-held dream of sharing this unique piece of Red River Gorge with the world. We're fortunate that we've been able to grow our business to four cabins.
We're a locally-owned business, and we're proud of tourism's impact on our area. Our cabins feature the work of local artisans, and you'll notice the attention to detail in each one.
We built our first cabin and designed our other cabins to showcase the property's natural beauty. We've been able to share our love of the area with many guests, and we're excited to share it with you.
Why they chose this property
People like to visit the wilderness for many reasons. They might like to see the trees, view wildlife, walk in the woods, float on a quiet lake, maybe fish a little, explore trails, breathe clean air, and just relax and enjoy the lack of noise. The Red River Gorge and Natural Bridge area offers all of these, in addition to unique, natural, geological, and historical features that stimulate your senses. Natural arches, magnificent cliffs, rock shelters, and historical sites all appeal to our sense of history and aesthetics. It is difficult to visit such a place and not have a profound spiritual experience.
Thirty years ago, our family was fortunate enough to discover and acquire a piece of property that encompasses all of the above. Located less than twenty minutes from Natural Bridge State Park, the 32-acre site has it all. In addition to a 29 million gallon spring-fed lake, huge rock shelters (one with a natural arch), caves that have surely provided shelter for countless ancient people, and abundant wildlife are here to experience and enjoy. There are two National Historical Sites located here.
For the past 13 years, we have carefully and respectively developed the property, building roads, bringing modern necessities such as city water, electricity, HD television, and access to modern communications, all the while disturbing nature as little as possible. Docks, a boat house, and covered fishing huts have been constructed to make the wonders of the remarkable body of water more available.
When one visits Bear Track Lake Adventures for accommodations, you can choose one of four available cabins on the property. Three cabins are lakeside, while one sits atop a hill overlooking the lake. Whether you choose to stay in Bear Lair, A Sleepy Bear’s Dream, A Sneaky Bear's Hideaway, or Boo Bear, you and your family can experience it all and not have to drive anywhere.
