Very quaint house. Excellent location. We are allowed a late checkout time. It was a hug favor since we have young children and elderly. Will definitely stay there again.
Staying in this historic house in the historic district of Nantucket was just what we wanted. It was in walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see. We had no need for a car because there are taxis and large vans to take us the few places that were not in walking distance.

Ellen - It was great having you!! Come back any time!
This house is magical. We had such a lovely stay at this historic property for a girls’ weekend on Nantucket. The location in town with close proximity to the beach and ferry is so convenient. Can’t wait to come bACK!
Location is superb. The home has all the charms and challenges that go along with older homes. The owners were easy to communicate with and we had no issues.
This is a wonderful home for an active family. We could walk to boat trips, a grocery store, and museums, bike, drive, or take the bus to several beaches, and come home to eat around the big table. This is highly recommended for folks who enjoy the historical ambiance of the island.

Joyce - It was a pleasure having you to our home. I am glad you enjoyed it.
We couldn’t have asked for a better located house for our MDW trip to Nantucket. Very walkable to central locations and it was so spacious with enough sleeping space and bathrooms for all of us. Communication was great and there wasn’t a single hitch all weekend. We already can’t wait to come back!
The house is beautiful because it hasn't been gutted and turned into a modern mess: it's an old Nantucket house with tons of charm. The owner was really helpful and so was his caretaker. The cleaning woman was very nice.
Our group had an incredible time during our stay. The hosts were very informative and the check in/check out process was seamless. The house is in a perfect location close to town, but very quiet as well. The set up of the house worked great with many different bedrooms and bathrooms split up across the group. Thanks again to Michael and Harry - we will definitely be back!

Connor - It was great having you! You are welcome back any time!
A group of friends came to celebrate for a long weekend. The location could not have been better; close enough to walk to town, but tucked away enough to be peaceful. Harry was flexible with check-in/out and very responsive with any questions or needs. The garden/backyard was wonderful!

Thank you for your kind review. The garden has been one of my mother’s pride and joy. We try and make the garden very special each year. Glad you enjoyed it.
Everything was fantastic. You can't beat the location of the property!
Only thing could be improved is the third floor bed sits on wood slats and is really uncomfortable.
Thank you for letting us rent your home.
Great location, so close to town- we loved that. The house had more beds than we could use, which was great too. Many options for us all! Cute backyard, perfect for bringing that morning cup of coffee out to relax with the beautiful landscaping and sweet bunnies. The paper towels and toilet paper the host provided was only enough to get us through a couple of days so I would consider bringing some with you! Overall great stay.

Thank you so much for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
Note that the Nantucket supermarkets now have toilet paper, paper towels and paper goods. This is an update from just a few weeks ago when paper goods were in short supply.
The property is nice. Would have liked it better if bathrooms were updated. Claw tub showers did not work for us and the walk in shower was very, very small. Plenty of rooms for sleeping and very nice backyard. Location is very close to town which is nice.
This house is perfectly rustic, in a quiet spot just a block or two from the heart of town. Kitchen has been updated but mostly everything else is old and quaint, as it should be. Only one of the main bedrooms is “en suite” with an attached bath but the rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. It’s all we needed!

About the host
Hosted by Michael Fox
My family purchased this house in 1970 and we grew up here in the summers. My parents wanted a home in town so they could relax and not have to drive their five children everywhere during their vacation. We all have wonderful memories of fishing for blue fish with my father, walking to children's beach for a morning swim and taking our morning walk, with a cup of coffee, to Brant Point or the Jetties Beach
Why they chose this property
This home has been modestly renovated but is definitely not a 'showcase' home. It is an old Nantucket home, cozy, but with the original clawfoot bath tubs that the house had in 1970. While we have remodeled the kitchen and furniture over the years, it is a wonderful home to relax, curl up with a good book, sit out back in the garden and read or talk. The house has new TV, WiFi, bedding, bath and beach towels, Webber gas grill. Wonderful memories are made in this home.
What makes this property unique
Only a few short blocks from the center of town, 4 Academy Lane is located on a lovely cobble stone street on Academy Hill, facing the Jared Coffin house and the harbor. It is a wonderful location for walking into town for dinner, a morning coffee and paper, or running in after dinner to make the 7:30 move at the Dreamland. Children's beach is a short walk away. Walking distance to ferrys.
