This bright and fresh cottage is tucked away in the trees among other cottages. The property is also RV friendly if you want to park your own camper or trailer on the site. The property has a modern kitchen, modern bathroom, flat screen TV, fire pit and more. It is very close to one of the nicest parks and beaches on Lake Michigan. We are very proud of this property! This property is clean and new and the beach is only a few steps down from the bluff above, making it perfect for families.

I booked this cottage and then there was a problem w/ the well so John upgraded me to Livingston's Fabulous Beach House--a 3-bedroom house nearby. This review reflects my stay at the Beach House, which was a peaceful, airy, welcome retreat. John was most gracious in making this upgrade change and I had a fabulous few days to myself......95 steps down to beautiful beaches where I could walk for miles. I highly recommend Livingston's Fabulous Beach House, or connecting with John to stay at any of his properties. My sincere thanks, John!
Thought it was nice just got sick so had to leave early. Wish they would show more of where it’s at in listing. But the backyard is cozy and so is the house. Everything was clean. John was a nice host
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary. The country setting was enjoyable and for us was much better than staying in a motel. The price was very reasonable and it was close to shopping and restaurarants. Very nice.
The stay was great. About a 10 minute walk to the beach. Pull out bed was very uncomfortable and shower was not the best but outside of that the stay was lovely! I would just suggest bringing an air mattress.
This was a such a relaxing and picturesque location. It was close to the lake and easy to find. I would definitely recommend this location for a quiet weekend.
Great little secluded property just a short 3 minute drive to a secluded beach that is way less crowded than the touristy beaches in South Haven. Grilled and ate outdoor every night!
We very much enjoyed our stay at this cozy cottage in the woods near Lake Michigan! We could walk to the beach (or drive) for a quiet enjoyment at Hagar Park. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed including a giant bowl of candy waiting for us when we arrived! We will definitely be back next fall.
We enjoyed our stay at the Cozy Cottage and would stay again. It was a little tight for three adults plus one 17 yo (girls trip). We ended up getting an air mattress and sleeping on that plus the couch (not folded out) because the mattress on the hide-a-bed didn’t seem like it would be comfortable to sleep on. The bed in the bedroom was comfortable. The property was quiet and overall we enjoyed our stay!
Nicely renovated kitchen and bathroom.
Everything was there, more kitchen equipment than I have at home. However, the bedroom was not designed for a queen size bed (very comfortable.
We were slim enough to make do.
Cozy cabin, summarize it. Clean kitchen and living area. Small shower, bedroom and pull out is typical, horrible to sleep on. Best to bring air mattress to put on top.
Small window ac unit in main living area only. That was fine for us since weather was decent but any warmer temps would’ve been an issue.
Had coffee maker, tiny microwave and tvs are tiny as well.
The area is so nice. We went to South Haven and Benton Harbor. The cozy cottage was in a nice quiet area where we could get to all the favorite areas! The cozy cottage was nice and clean. I was disappointed with the weather one day because with the rain and power outage there wasn't much we could do at the cottage but that wasn't our host's fault. If you are traveling and want to stay in, this may not be the place for you. It has a small TV and the lighting wasnt the best for reading but that may just be my "old" eyes. If you are wanting a place to stay while you explore the area it is a fantastic cozy cottage. Thanks for a great stay!

Clean beach house
House was very clean. Factory next door was loud as well as highway behind house. House was not located on Lake Michigan…had a long walk down unstable stairs (with no railing) to get to beach…not suitable for handicap individuals. Traffic was loud and factory had fumes and noisy during the day. No cards or games of any sort.
Living room with kitchenette (coffee, sink, microwave, fridge, mini dishwasher, stovetop with no stove). The living room has a pullout couch. The bathroom has a small walk-in shower. The bedroom (which you access via bathroom) has a full or queen size bed. There is a closet with shelves. Also in the closet theres a washer, dryer, and iron with board. The lawn is quite large with a deck and table. There is construction by an edge of the lawn. The place was very clean and quiet while we were there. The walk to the public beach was approx 20 minutes each way.
Overall, not excellent but good. Kitchen very good. Queen bed fine though bedroom is small for the size of bed. Quiet neighbors. Flooring is attractive. It was clean and towels were fine.
Negatives: Definitely not for handicapped or mobility impaired. The nice, large deck has two steps of normal height and then a 2-inch final step that blends in with the deck and trips one. I fell once because of it. A bright strip is needed to alert one to the final 2-inch step.
The shower is small and old. Size was not a problem to either of us because we are not overweight. For large people it would be difficult. The greater problem was one of the shower doors was off the track and I could not get it back on. The shower is the worst problem. Window venetian blinds worked fine on three windows. Four others either did not work or partially worked.
A new air conditioning/heating system installation is in process. Due to wonderful weather, we did not need the small window a/c. We were thankful for space heaters some mornings. Living area furniture (hide-a-bed sofa and chair) were functional for sitting but not great.
We enjoyed our stay but probably would not return unless we knew maintenance had been completed. It has the feel of a project in process--which eventually could be very nice.

Overpromised and underdelievered
I would not recommend this property. I've stayed at other properties listed on VRBO and have never been as disappointed as I was with this cabin. It was much more expensive than staying at a hotel without the amenities. The cabin is located down a dirt road and a longer walk to the beach than what is described on the website.
Upon arrival there was no toilet paper. When I called the manager, he told me to go buy some and he would reimburse me (I only received the money after contacting him 2 weeks later). You are required to bring your own bath towels and the manager asks that you wash all bed linens before leaving. This wouldn't be a problem if it didn't take over an hour for the sheets to dry and if I hadn't overpaid for this property.
When I booked the cabin, the description stated that the cabin slept 6. While I only had a party of 4, it was quite cramped between the sofa sleeper and a trundle bed. When I asked the property manager about this, the reply was "it will sleep 6 if someone brings a tent or pak n'play". I see the website now states the property sleeps 4 so at least the owner is now forethright about that aspect of the property.
The cabin is only partially finished. The one bedroom has a partical board floor and the shower is extremely small with cracks that have been caulked to hold it together. If you press against the shower walls they move, so good luck to anyone trying to take a normal shower.
In all fairness, the property owner and manager were polite about all my questions and concerns. That said, I would be polite as well if I had charged my guests Trump Hotel prices for a Motel 6 experience.
Before i left for my stay i was contacted by the owner. An issue with the original house had an issue so i was graciously put into an upgrade for the same price. My new place was hugh, warm and cozy. Thanks John i had a terrific time.

Why they chose this property
This property is new and fresh. It was renovated in 2011 and has a modern kitchen and bath, quality wood floors, and nice furnishings. It sits among tall trees and other cottages in a quaint area that you will want to call home. A fabulous community beach is the equivalent of about four blocks away.
