About this property

Charming 1930s Gulfside Bungalow in Spanish Triplex - 1 Minute from Best Beach

We have separate private entrances that are only 3 steps up from ground level.
We are approved by the City of St Pete Beach for short-term rentals.
----------------------------------------

The Gulfside Bungalow has French doors that open off the bedroom onto your own private deck surrounded by palm trees and flowers. Breakfast outside, grill dinner on our BBQ, or just read in the lazy afternoon on our spacious new deck.

The bedroom is bright and airy with a new queen-sized bed and French doors that allow in evening air. An overhead fan reduces the need for the new AC unit. If the mood strikes, bedside are the switches for the garden accent lights around the deck. The pretty bedroom has light wicker furniture, a closet, flat screen TV and Blu-Ray DVD player. Of course, fine linens and plush towels are provided.

The living room, decorated in Floridian style, has a sleeper sofa and armchair along with a large flat screen TV and wicker desk with a high-speed internet connection. A closet provides additional storage for clothes. Central AC provides cooling and heating.

The eat-in kitchen has a new electric range with a ceramic stove top. The beautifully restored cabinets, large refrigerator, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, and the usual assortment of pots, pans, utensils, dishes, and flatware make meal preparation a pleasure. A small glass-top table in the kitchen is fine for eating.

You may also choose to eat out on the deck where a table and chairs provide a private eating and relaxing area. Next to the deck, there is a gas grill for BBQs. Nearby, Shaner's is a great place to get some fantastic meat or fish for grilling or a hot sandwich. Our guidebook containing personal restaurant reviews and menus may tempt you to visit some of the local eateries.

Why Choose Us and This location:
* Clean, well maintained, nicely decorated, well supplied, friendly, experienced hosts.
* This is an updated historic house on the ground floor with beautiful gardens.
* This is not a condo.
* It is on a quiet street, steps from the beach entrance.
* A storm in the Fall of 2023 wiped out the dunes and beach on the lower 1/3 of Pass-a-grille. Although the City trucked in sand from a quarry in the middle of Florida and planted sea oats and sea grapes, it will look pretty ugly for years. We are in the middle of the section that was not affected. Our dunes and beach are still natural.
* The beach access on the end of our street is wide and easy to traverse. Turn left (south) and you are on the public beach. Turn right (north) and you are on the wider, beautiful private beach you are free to use with less crowds and miles of walking.
* We are one of only 14 properties permitted by the City to do short term rentals in the residential zones of Pass-a-grille.
* We take loving care of our property. It is up-to-date and nicely decorated.
* We have been renting for 20+ years and many guests return year after year.

Communications & Entertainment:
We use wired and wireless high speed cable internet. There are jacks in the living room with a wicker desk for your laptop, and in the bedroom. There are cable flat screen TVs and Blu-Ray Players in the living room and bedroom. For foreign visitors, there is a phone line available that is shared between the 3 units - local calls only. If you need the phone, please make arrangements when making the reservation.

Washer/Dryer:
There is a modern high efficiency front-loading clothes washer in the kitchen. The dryer is in a shed on the deck. There is also a clothesline that can be strung across the deck for air drying clothes.

Beach Equipment:
There are beach towels available. In the front alcove and along the side walkway are beach chairs, an umbrella, and beach toys for your use. On the right of the front entrance arch is a freshwater hose for washing off sand.

Parking:
We will provide you with a single parking pass for residential parking on the street right in front of the Triplex. Additional cars may be parked on the east end of the street, which is not posted. The parking pass must be returned when leaving.

Guidebook:
We have made up a guidebook to help you enjoy the area. Included are extensive restaurant reviews and menus, suggested activities and special places to visit. There are aerial maps to help you get a lay of the land (and sea), as well as a map of the Pinellas Rail trail. We've also included some special places to shop. We welcome your contributions to this guide.

We require your address and confirmation of your cell phone before your reservation is considered complete.

A great, livable retreat. Steps from the beautiful wide beach. The entire retro town of Pass-a Grille is walkable from your front door. Hosts Leslie and Tom are friendly and easy to communicate with.

Welcome to Pass-a-Grille Rentals.

We offer unique places to stay while enjoying the St. Pete Gulf Coast ... our own vacation homes.

Years ago our parents came to the St. Pete area to enjoy the Floridian respite from the Wisconsin Winters. Over the years, as each of us started spending more and more time in the area, we started looking for places of our own to stay.

We have found interesting properties that offer a quiet and relaxing pace. Each of our properties has been our own vacation home. They are all unique. Most reflect the cozy and relaxed beach atmosphere of the 1920's - 1940's.

Over the years we have gradually upgraded them while maintaining their historic nature. Of course with a family that includes an architect (dad), interior designers, gardeners, and, most importantly, handymen, we have upgraded our places and continue to maintain them ourselves with pride. Our emphasis has been to preserve the feel and historic aspects of the properties while modernizing the inside facilities.

Reflecting our interests in tropical fruits and spices, our gardens tend to be more out of the ordinary. We have exotic tropical and subtropical fruits, spices, and flowers. Look around and you may find our vanilla orchids, lychees, longans, lemon grass, cinnamon, passion fruit, pomegranate, kaffir lime, and macadamia along more traditional citrus and bananas. For flowering trees we have ylang ylang, michela alba, jacaranda, and royal poinciana along with the more usual fragipani, hisbiscus, jasmine, gardinas, oleanders, bird-of-paradise, and bougainvilla. Consequently, our gardens are not the trimmed and manicured standard of fancy Floridian estates.

As we explore and sample the area, we learn about those special places to enjoy and visit. We also learn what NOT to do and where NOT to eat. Each of our units has a guidebook that we have personally developed over the years with maps, restaurant menus and recommendations, and places to fish, shop and bird watch.
