About this property
Charming coastal cabin overlooking the marsh, near Darien and Shellman Bluff GA.
Life slows down in this airy cottage home that is the perfect rustic coastal mix. There is an immediate relaxed and welcoming feel as you are greeted with an expansive view over the estuary marshland. Only five minutes to a boat ramp, and minutes to the Sapelo Island Ferry, Darien, Butler Island and Shellman Bluff, the Marsh House makes it easy to enjoy the recreation and history of the area.
Choose the Captain’s Room or the Skipper’s Room- each decorated in an eclectic and comfortable style reflecting life lived close to the sea. Each has its own adjoining spacious bathroom with roomy, tiled, walk-in shower. From the kitchen and living area, glass sliding doors let in natural light and provide a stunning view. They open onto a large inviting screened-in porch. Enjoy morning coffee and evening socializing in the rocking chairs watching marsh herons and other sea birds fly over driftwood in the sea grasses. One of the special touches on the porch is the coffee table which is made from a ship hatch - crafted and passed down from the owner’s grandfather.
When not enjoying one of the many local fresh seafood restaurants, the galley type kitchen has everything you need including seafood feasting utensils. There is also plenty of outdoor cooking space for your daily catch. Grill or low country boil on the back deck which also boasts a gas fire pit that makes an instant and attractive evening campfire gathering spot.
Bring your boat! The Marsh House has a large back yard for easy turn around and several conveniently placed water hoses for rinsing your boat. There is an outdoor area for cleaning fish that can be stored in the outdoor chest freezer. The Marsh House is located in a safe and peaceful neighborhood conveniently positioned for duck and alligator hunters or for day trips to the beaches of St. Simons, Jekyll Island or Tybee. There is an abundance of delicious eatteries of all kinds with just a few minutes drive. Buy fresh shrimp, crab and other seafood - almost the minute it comes off the boat - only a mile up the road.
