About this property
The Moonshiner: Prohibition with a Steampunk Twist
The Moonshiner Cabin is a perfectly curated, hand-built treasure. Let it transport you back in time to an era of cocktails and jazz. The owners have lovingly curated this cabin using The Prohibition Era as inspiration and we guarantee there’s nothing else like it! Just a short jaunt to town, yet nestled among the oaks on 1.5 acres, this cabin has everything you require of modern life, but the charm and romance of a different century. Gregory, a local craftsman, built nearly every inch of the cabin, including much of the furniture and all the light fixtures. Whenever possible he tucked the modern world just a little out of sight, including a hidden smart TV that drops down from the ceiling. This is truly a a one-of-a-kind retreat.
The Moonshiner Cabin is nestled among the hills and streams of the Hill Country, in the charming little village of Wimberley. Folks visit Wimberley to feel like they’ve traveled back to a bygone era where kids swing off ropes into creeks, everyone knows their neighbor, time slows down and summer nights under the stars last an eternity. This cabin embraces that nostalgic longing and we invite you to come stay for a spell. Pet Fee: Our pet fee is $50 each for friendly, leashed pets. Please declare pets at time of booking (max 2 pets without prior approval). VRBO NOTE: Vrbo only charges one pet fee, so a 2nd pet fee will be added after booking, if applicable. Note:the cabin is surrounded by nature on three sides and has a neighbor on the 4th side. There is a nice privacy fence on the neighbor side of the property. This property is not suitable for children.

Good communication with host. Charming, cozy cabin, thoughtfully appointed and interesting. Linens were good. Bathtub and outdoor shower were wonderful. Bed was a little too soft for us, but we tend to like firmer mattresses. Perfect for a short getaway. We wish we could have stayed longer.
We loved the private serenity.Little details in the amenities were thoughtful. The whole vibe was great. We enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub and sleeping in.
This cabin was AS pictured and MORE !! Property was gorgeous and clean! Bed so comfy it invited you back again and again.Deer came so close to the front of of the house in early evening and morning to graze you could sit at the kitchen table and enjoy a cup or coffee or a glass of wine and loose yourself in nature. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, there was not a want or need for more. The hot tub was so relaxing we spent morning, noon and night sitting, listening to music and taking in the landscape. We will return for sure !!!!
This was definitely a picturesque cabin in the woods. Everything was beautiful, and we got lucky with the weather. From lounging in the hammock, warming up next to the fire pit on a chilly night, or gazing up at the stars in the hot tub, I would highly recommend this place if you're looking to get away for some R&R. Just sitting outside and enjoying the sights, sound, and feel of nature was refreshing. We were even able to bring our telescope and do some stargazing. Such a great spot with clear skys. Stock up the little fridge and you can even cook your own meals on the stove, with the oven, or even the grill outside. The options for having romantic meals are endless, with fair weather, eating outside for almost every meal definitely set the mood. Of course, the location is also great, just a short drive to Wimberly Town Square, with a plethora of great little shops and eateries. 11/10 would stay again
It was a quaint and cozy cabin out in nature but close enough to the town. We have a really wonderful time and would highly recommend anyone stay for a fun getaway!
It was quiet and comfortable. Easy access from I35 or east of Wimberley. I would only suggest some comfy furniture on the back porch. Otherwise, it was a unique and lovely place to stay.
The property was awesome. Very clean and cozy and very well kept. It was nice just sitting on the porch, enjoying nature and the peacefulness it provides. It has all of the amenities that you would need for a nice relaxing getaway. Even though you feel like you are out in the middle of nature you are less than a 10 minute drive to some very nice shops and restaurants at the Wimberly Square. Excellent cabin, excellent location that I would highly recommend!!!
This cabin was the absolute perfect little spot to help celebrate our 2nd anniversary.. We loved having the quiet relaxing atmosphere with the perks of being close enough to town in case of needed supplies etc. definitely worth it and looking forward to a return visit.
We have stayed at this property a number of times now and it is always an amazing experience. 3
