The houses were great with lots of charm and a very friendly and attentive host. They were very pretty and set up very nicely. Very comfortable beds and futons too. The location was also very convenient with a short and pleasant walk to the station. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
The host did well communicating with us before arrival and met us at the property to go over all details. Wonderful location near transit, services and sites, relaxing common space to make your own meals, plus great sleep. Highly recommend.
Owner was very flexible and extremely polite. The house was very clean and the AC and WiFi and other appliances worked well. Located a short walk from both Lawsones and 7/11. Moderate walk to the subway or bus stop. Highly recommend.
The units are in a great location and very convenient to the train station. They accomodated our group of seniors, adults and kids really well. Communication was great and having someone meet us at the house for check-in was really helpful. My only issue was the futon sleeping mats were very hard but i expected that when booked.
An absolutely beautiful few days at Uan. We couldn’t have wished for a more picturesque location in lovely Higashiyama, beneath the hills. We loved exploring the local area and wereIn walking distance of many gorgeous locations and restaurants with Gion so close. Thank you Kei, Satoru and Mika for a wonderful experience
Loved staying at this place!
Everythjng was clean, neat, high end toiletries (Shiseido), and Kei was SOO responsive with everything and made sure our trash & issues were taken cared of right away!
Highly recommend this gem!

Hana house was just perfect for our family of 4! It was so nice to have a little more space than we’d had at the hotel in Tokyo, and it gave our kids room to spread out. The place was very tidy and had all the amenities we needed- the washer dryer was key! The location was beautiful, right near a large park/temple, and easy walking distance to Gion. Communication was prompt, friendly, and easy. We would highly recommend!

Of all the properties we stayed in Japan this one was by far the best! I hope we can find this available during our next visit to Kyoto! Kei and Ayumi were extremely attentive and accomplished hosts. Thank you both for the VIP treatment!
We really enjoyed our stay with Kei and Mika - the house was very clean and exactly as pictured. It had all the requisite amenities for a family traveling with small children and infants - a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and bathtub. One room is western style bed, the other is traditional futons on tatami mats, both very spacious, quiet, and comfortable. The house is in a great location too, close to the metro and easy walking distance to Kyocera, the zoo, and central commercial areas, and also right next door to a beautiful mountain-side shrine. Would definitely recommend to any families wanting to explore Kyoto!
Perfectly situated and decorated for Kyoto experience
We hired 3 separate houses/units of this property for 3 families traveling together. Each unit had a unique charm, and was very thoughtfully equipped and decorated. We absolutely loved being close to some of Japan's treasured temples and shrines, with so many amazing options for calm strolls. The host was very communicative and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable. Highly recommended if you want a place to escape from the crowd in the central Kyoto.
Comfortable 2-bedrooms apartment in a charming area
The apartment has a lot of character, has good A/C and the rooms are well furnished. The check was easy. The host is very friendly and speaks excellent English. We loved the neighborhood. It is near a metro station and is charming, with a few shops and bars. Although it is within walkable distance to Gion, it did not feel overly touristic. Strongly recommended!

Thank you so much, Chiara, for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the character of the apartment and found it comfortable. It's great to know that you appreciated the neighborhood's charm and convenient location, as well as the ease of check-in. We always strive to make our guests feel at home, and we're glad that our efforts made your stay enjoyable. We hope to welcome you back on your next visit to the area. Safe travels and warm regards!
Our family of ten (eight adults and two kids) rented two of Uan Kyoto's lovingly renovated homes in the Higashiyama neighborhood of Kyoto in April. We all agreed Uan is one of the best properties we've ever stayed in: perfect location in a quiet neighborhood yet an easy walk or bus ride to all the sights, right next door to two different temple complexes, and excellent local dining (try Jyujyu Tonkatsu!) Managers Satoru and Mika were prompt and friendly in their communications, even going so far as welcoming us in person (at 8:00 pm) and making restaurant reservations for us (complete with numerous last-minute changes, sorry Mika!) While both spaces are on the small side (especially Kaze with its tiny common area) we were mostly out and about so we didn't mind being cozy. Two of Kyoto's most prestigious hotels are within a block or two so you know Uan is in a great part of town. (The Westin's buffet, while expensive, was one of our favorite meals.) We really enjoyed visiting the less crowded northern sites like Nanzenji, the Keage Incline and canal museum, the Lake Biwako canal cruise, Mt. Hiei and Sanzen-in Temple in Ohara. We didn't get there this trip but Arashiyama would be easy to reach, while Nara is a quick ride on the Kintetsu-Nara line. All in all, we highly recommend Uan Kyoto!locatilocation in

A very nice, clean place, right in the shadow of a temple. They had just finished renovations, and everything was ready as promised! Wonderful and responsive hosts met our taxi, and handled the few early questions quickly. New appliances and appointments. A sweet little coffee cafe 2 blocks away (Coffee Club) was handy, and we found great bike rentals at the Starbucks/ Bookstore 6 blocks away near the Heian Shrine near Okazaki Park. We'd stay again!!

I usually don't write reviews but I had to because this place is absolutely amazing, exceeding all our expectations. It is one of the rare occasions where it looks even better in person than in the pictures. It is a traditional Japanese home which has been completely and beautifully remodeled. There is a traditional Japanese tatami room which we loved. We are so glad we decided not to pay for an expensive Ryokan and stayed here instead because we still got the experience of sleeping in tatami room. The other room has a Western style bed and is also very lovely. There is a wonderful bathtub to soak in after a long day of seeing the temples. The place is very clean. The location is the best. Walking distance to temples and Gion district as well as subway and bus stop. Kei was a wonderful host. His wife and assistant met us the first day to show us the place. His wife gave treats to our children which was such a lovely gesture. We will definately stay here again and highly recommend it to our friends and family.

Hi. My name is Kei. I was born and raised in Kyoto. My family has lived here for more than 250 years. I renovated my houses and started B&B simply because it's very fantastic to meet new guests and to have conversations with them. As a genuine Kyotoite, it would be great if I can show you the core beauty of Kyoto.
