My family and I booked our spring break trip to North Carolina. We wanted to have that secluded mountain feel along with being close to town. This cabin was a perfect combination of both. We enjoyed the fireplace, hot tub and ping pong table daily. Thank you for making our experience wonderful.

Overall, a great stay. Lot's of coffee pods, tissue, towels and wash clothes, bedding and cookware. Many extras! Only issue we found was a need for dusting inside and pollen washed from porch.
Yes, we would book it again! Enjoyed the isolation and very quiet surroundings.

Thank you for the review! This was peak pollen time of the year, but all is clean and ready for use this summer!
Nice place. Fully equipped. Loved the hot tub. Wish there was more parking at top of the steep driveway but maybe that is to be expected at a mountain property.

Overall we were sastified with the home. It is not the cabin experience we were expecting, but it is a well equipped mountain home. The location is convenient to West Jefferson and Boone, it has everything needed in the kitchen for preparing meals. The beautiful wooded view and the relaxing hot tub were the best parts for us.

Thanks for staying with us and we are glad you enjoyed your visit and look forward to your returning to Ashe County
First I must say the pictures do not do justice for this beautiful home!! It is nestled in the trees with a wrap around deck to enjoy all the beauty that surrounds you. There are other homes close by but the tress provided much privacy. We came to enjoy the Halloween Ghost Train at Tweetsie and it was amazing!!! This was my sisters first trip to the mountains and she fell in love. The home is about 20 minutes from West Jefferson, Boone and a little farther down is Blowing Rock. My only complaint is we couldn’t stay longer!! The home is stocked with all you need to enjoy a night in including ping pong!! We hope to make this an annual trip and hope to stay here again!!!!!
We really enjoyed the "off the beaten path" feel of this place. It was a quick drive over to the various ski mountains and over to Boone for shopping and restaurants. Our favorite part of the house was the large basement with ping pong table, card tables and an extremely comfortable couch. We brought our own board games but there were also a lot of games available to use. We truly felt at home the entire stay and cooked our own meals in the well stocked kitchen. The hot tub was also a nice reprieve after snowboarding all day! Our only complaint (and a very small one at that) is we thought we would have more privacy here but there is one house directly behind the rental property that also shares an access road to the firepit area. We would still return in the future knowing this but would not bring along our stranger-reactive pet as she was easily agitated seeing the neighbors outside most of the day. Thanks again for hosting us! We had a blast.

Reviewer Comments:
The location of the property was great because it wasn't too far from Boone, Blowing Rock or West Jefferson and the hot tub was very clean. My biggest issue with the home was the strong smell of dog that hits you when you walk in. We had to go buy air fresheners and spray to combat the smell. As someone else commented below, there was also the smell of rotten eggs when we ran the water which was very displeasing. I would definitely rent from Ashe High Country Vacations again, just not this particular home. We've stayed in much nicer homes for a lot less money.

Thank you for the feedback and we are very disappointed to hear about the strong dog smell. We're working hard now to ensure this issue is resolved before our next guest. Overall the house receives good review for overall cleanliness so we will make sure this does not happen again. The sulfur smell comes and goes but we do have a local plumber working on this issue too and hope to have it resolved completely soon. Future guests feel free to check in to see where things are at on the couple of items, we hope to have them resolved within the next week.

Reviewer Comments:
Older house that really needs an update, musty moldy smelling, bugs everywhere, it just wasn't really very clean. The location is covered in trees but does have neighbors in close proximity on both sides. Appliances are older, wifi is spotty, only one TV for the whole house. Washer/Dryer and Ping Pong table is in the very musty unfinished basement. We so badly wanted to like this house, but it just seemed like one disappointing thing after the next kept coming up. :-(

The house was pretty much in a neighborhood and not at all secluded as we were hoping for. The gas fireplace did not work and though we could get the pilot to light and the fireplace to come on, it would go out after a minute or so (we have a gas fireplace in our own home and know how to operate so it wasn't a user issue). When we were in the hot tub on the deck, we noticed there was black smoke coming out of the chimney and black soot began falling on our heads and into the hot tub. Fortunately, my husband had noticed a boiler in the basement and realized it must have been vented to the chimney and that that was what was causing the smoke and soot. However, I feel this is something that should have been left inside the booklet so guests would not have been alarmed. Overall, the house was nice, comfortable, clean and a short drive to town, but was not the cozy, romantic weekend we were expecting and was very disappointed.

Thank you for the feedback. We really wish you would have called during your stay as it turns out the boiler furnace was on the fritz, thus the reason for the soot, and it went completely out the following weekend. If we had been made aware sooner we could have also saved the following weeks guests the issue of no heat late Saturday night. The furnace has now been repaired so this is no longer a problem. We do ask to please call us if you run into any issues so we can attempt to remedy them during your stay as well as prevent any future issues for other guests. Future guests: This property is located in a neighborhood and you do pass homes on the way in but once you are at the cabin the covered porch side as well as the hot tub location are private. The gas logs are also on schedule to be serviced but are currently working as well.
My sisters and I stayed in this quiet home for a weekend. Very close to downtown West Jefferson and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s even 7 minutes from a winery! Loved the place and would definitely stay again.
We loved staying in this house with our son and his family. It was so cool & comfortable after the heat and humidity of Alabama &
DC. There was plenty of room for sleeping, cooking, & eating for our group of six. My son & his wife had to work some while here, and the internet was very good for doing that, We especially enjoyed the rocking chairs on the deck and the beautiful scenery. Our grandchildren loved the ping pong table and the other games. Thank you for making this home available for a wonderful week of vacation.
We enjoyed our time at the home, the photos were an accurate description of the property. We were disappointed at the misleading fees VRBO and the management company ended up charging compared to what they listed the property for so just be aware when booking.
We enjoyed our stay but there were a few things that need improving. As soon as we walked into the cabin, it smelled as if it had been smoked in and shut up, the house had cobwebs in the master bathroom and dirt on the dressers. It could have been cleaned better in my opinion. The day we checked out the fire detector in the bedroom on the left kept going off. I would suggest a door stopper behind the front door as well. It was sufficient for the amount of time we stayed and it was cozy feeling.
This cabin was very clean and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable. Semi secluded, lots of privacy. This was our first visit with Blue Ridge Rental, but it will not be our last! Great staff!
My family had a great time over theThanksgiving holiday. The house was fully socked to support our entire Thanksgiving meal. The board games and ping pong table were a huge hit with the kids. The hot tub was perfect and the property manager responded promptly to my call the night before Thanksgiving. You are about 15 minutes away from Mount Jefferson, it was a beautiful little hike. 30 minute from Boone, and an hour from grandfather mountain( which is incredible. The beds at the house could have been more comfortable for my liking. It was very firm and there were no tvs in the bedrooms. Those are my only complaints.
This house was perfect for six friends on a weekend getaway. The hot tub was great, and the kitchen made it easy to cook meals together. The downstairs space was a hit, with the ping pong table and a corner for puzzles and games. The rooms were cozy and the bathrooms were clean.
Property managers were nice to work with and their clear directions made it easy to find the house.
Overall experience was good, however fireplace and grill did not work. The cabin was still pretty close to the highway so you could definitely still hear all the traffic. The cabin itself was nice, lots of room, dog friendly, the hot tub was relaxing and the firepit outside was also fun!
This property was everything we needed for a wedding weekend in NC! The hot tub was especially great. Some of the rooms were not even pictured on the listing, so we were pleasantly surprised with another bedroom and a garage full of space/games! Honestly, the photos did not do this cabin justice. It was much cleaner and updated than the photos made it seem. Would definitely stay here again!
