This up-cycled grain bin was moved to the property from a nearby farm and renovated in 2024. It's the first of 5 bins ready for guests on the property. Bin #1 is just 20 mins. from The National Park, and has amazing views of the Mountain and Dunes right from the large picture windows and concrete patio. Sit back and soak in the views as you grill your dinner or sip your morning coffee because we have some of the best sunrise/sets you have ever seen - and you won't want to miss them. The cozy space features a king bed and a sofa bed, perfect for couples or a small family and we're even pet friendly! Enjoy the convenience of amenities like coffee, WiFi, heating, and AC during your stay. Please note a 2 burner cook top and a microwave is in the kitchen for cooking, but this bin does not have an oven. Sand or Sled rentals are available for $20/ea - just let us know 2 days prior and we will have them available for you.

A very unique and fun spot to stay. The bin was comfortable with beautiful views from the bedroom windows. King size bed was very comfortable and they provided plenty of blankets. The nature and access to sand dunes national park were both excellent. We travels with our dog and there was a room for us.

An amazing and secluded getaway with the most unforgettable, unobstructed views of the Sand Dunes National Park as well as the most incredible, starry skies you will ever see. The Grain Silo is very comfortable and incredibly unique. This is a must stay location that I encourage anyone to experience.

Unique remote mountain experience!

What a cool experience it was to stay in the grain bin! The unit was special and had everything we needed for a night’s stay. Stargazing was incomparable. Definitely a remote /off the grid adventure. 10/10 will remember this stay and recommend to others!

By far, the most unique place we've stayed. But we never felt we were sacrificing comfort. What else could you want? Big soft bed, HUGE bathroom, well-stocked kitchen with home made breakfast burritos in the freezer, and plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 dogs. We rented a sandboard and sled to visit the dunes and checked out Zapata falls on the way home. 10/10 amazing!

Upscaled Grain Bin Stay, A work of ART!

Stayed one night on the way home from a trail race in NM. Was AMAZED by the ingenuity of this Upscaled Grain Bin! We arrived late, after dark and although the directions were great it was a little daunting with no standard street lights leading the way! Once inside you are hit with a beautiful wood smell, because it is completely lined with stunning beetle kill wood. So cozy and comfortable and pet friendly. Host was very responsive and friendly! Great STAY, HIGHLY recommended. We will be back with the grandkids for a fun adventure!

In the summer we also offer glamping tents (some with in-tent bathrooms) at Rustic Rook Resort as well as Camper Cabins and BYO (bring your own) tent sites. We love helping people create fun experiences together that will last a lifetime.

Why they chose this property

We love The Great Sand Dunes and the SLV valley because of it's mild winters and cooler summers. The Dunes, mountains and surrounding towns offer endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, good food, and just a all around fun time. Being 20 mins. away from three 14er trail heads in the summer, and within an hour of 2 ski resorts in the winter makes the area perfect for year around excitement.

Our property is one of the closest lodging establishments to the Sand Dunes and offers amazing views of the mountains and dunes right from your site. We offer a wide verity of lodging options - so we have something for everyone. Our Grain bins stay open all year and offer the comforts of home all fit into a up-cycled/re-purposed farm bin. It's a really fun space and experience. You can also rent sand sleds to take to the dunes from us for $20/rental and order grill packs and adventure lunches (May-September).
