I hope things change for the next guest.
The place was just as listed, and a good place to get away. However, on the morning of my check-in, I had to ask the owner for check-in details since per VRBO, the owner should send checkin instructions two days prior. On the morning of, I recieved none and arrived about one hour prior to my check-in time. Again, still nothing from the owner. I was in the phone with customer service when the cleaner arrived and told me the owner told her that a guest was checking in. He told her he had emergency surgery at 140 pm, and never bothered reaching out to me that morning. The cleaner had to leave me with gate and door code and was shocked the owner/host had not given it to me. Had I not waited, I never would have gotten them.even during my stay, I never received a text or message from the owner/host. The cleaner was the most helpful with my stay even though it was not her responsibility to provide me with these details. There was a last minute guest prior to me in the days prior. The cleaner was left to clean in a hurry since my slide and I arrived. A couple of beer bottles were left behind because she had to clean in a hurricane we arrived and she wasn’t even notified of a prior guest, thinking it was already clean for my spouse and I. I wouldn’t sit here and type this out if it wasn’t a big deal. Host/owner, next time, please be attentive, have a sense of urgency to respond and explain to your guest if something arises. Better yet, please provide check-in codes as needed.
The place was nicely located near Joshua Tree and other fun activities. However, the front door didn't work right at first, and one of the back doors never opened. the lights and the switches were not only confusing but some did not work. The fire pit was out of commission, and the pool never heated. The sheets had funny stains. And although the property said it offers a washing machine it's actually locked up. We only gained access to it because of the issue with the sheets. The owner was hard to get a hold of before our stay and did not communicate with us till the day right before we arrived. It was a bit confusing about checkout and he didn't seem to know how to fix the TV ... Which only hade YouTube.. that at one point stopped working. The house book of rules was not helpful and did not specify how to operate anything in the home or provide insight to activities in the area. I felt the cleanliness of the place was not great. We had to wash things prior to using them for instance dishes and counter tops where not clean. There was a portion of the floor that was sticky. One of the chairs had so many staines we didn't even sit on it. The showers are weird too... Water gets everywhere and it requires a bunch of towels to manage...I would not return to this place. I thought it would be a fun modern adventure but it was disappointing. The proximity to Joshua Tree was awesome and we had a lot of fun exploring the park and the places in Joshua Tree and 29 Palms.
Staying here was pretty good. The house was clean except for some little crumbs left on the couch. Check in process was super easy and the owner was good with communication. The neighborhood is nice and very quite. Everything about the house was great except that the drain stopper in the bathtub in the master bedroom didnt work properly and the hot water in the master bedroom sink didnt work. Overall it was a cool stay.
