Cabin is cozy and well maintained. Clean and inviting! We had a great, long weekend stay with our friends. The massage chair and hot tub were divine after hiking in the snow and ice.
The cabin was perfect for our stay. It was centrally located to hiking trails and the lake. We took full advantage of the cabin amenities!! The owners were quick with communication and accommodating to our last minute request to bring our dogs. We would love to stay again.
when we got there there was a potential of a gas leak and a gas company truck had been called. The I contacted the host a message returned that we should leave immediately and they would let us know when we could return. The cleaning people had alerted the host, they had contacted the gas company, and the gas company had arrived. Yet we, arriving an hour past check in just learned that we should evacuate immediately. We were disappointed, tired, and traveling with our 75lb dog. We expressed our disappointment and were told to try a pizza shop down the road-it was closed. After we asked we were told it would be at least 7:30 when we'd be allowed in.It was all civil, but I was disappointed that dinner (we got some food at a gas station) wasn't comped or that we were not offered a late check out. If I had stayed later, it would be 50 per hour and yet I couldn't enter for 2.5 hours (125 value?)We also contacted them to explain that there was a lot of dog poo in the yard because the house book says we will be charged 50 if waste remains. Oops was their response. The house book gives many reasons they shouldn't be held responsible for problems, but contrastingly, charges were listed for what a customer might do and the charges that would be incurred.Overall, the place was very nice and we might even stay there again; however it did feel that the protection of owner was very heavy and the care/hospitality toward their customer was lacking.
This property was a true gem—spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully appointed with top-notch amenities that went above and beyond our expectations. Every corner felt like it had been prepared with care. The only hiccup in our peaceful retreat? The unexpected symphony of chainsaws from the nearby road at 7 AM. If you’re a light sleeper or dreaming of serene, late mornings, pack some earplugs—but if you’re an early riser, you might just call it “nature’s alarm clock!”
This cabin is fabulous, with all of its open space, natural light, wonderful amenities and thoughtful touches! My daughter and I enjoyed a winter getaway in Hocking Hills and made this our retreat headquarters for relaxing, reading, cooking, creating, hiking, and overall enjoying quality time together - and we couldn't have picked a better spot. It is very close to the key Hocking Hills hiking areas but also close to town. The amentities - hot tub, sauna, cold plunge - and, oh my yes, the massage chair - offered a spa-like experience without leaving home or incurring more expense. It is like the host thought of all of the details and little things for making sure your stay is worry-free. While I saw some comments about a shortage of towels, I would say that was not a problem for us at all, even with a lot of hot tub use (larger group - perhaps bring some pool towels as a backup). While the indoor fireplace was so easy to operate and offered a lot of warmth, the outdoor fire pit was also very nice for an evening by the fire under the stars. Bring dry firewood and starter! We enjoyed our visit so much, we contacted the host, who graciously offered to extend our stay an extra day, thank you! I will 100% return to this cabin. We highly recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Jenn Kessel-White
he story behind the scenes: Jenn’s first visit to hocking hills was in 2008 and her stay was at top of the hock cabin. She loved the wrap around deck the floor to ceiling windows, & the serenity. After multiple visits back and years later, Jenn started messaging the owner every 6 months (saved alert in her calendar) to see if they would consider selling. The owners always responded no and one year in 2017 they kindly asked her to quit it... in 2024 with years of a hocking hills cabin on her dream board, lauren, jenn’s partner sent over top of the hock as a potential purchase! Jenn screamed and almost fell off her own chair, yelling that’s the one!!! With the swiftness they put an offer in and here they are today. this cabin was built with a health forward retreat in mind. between the hot tub, cold plunge, infrared sauna and top of the line massage chair, we hope you find a way to relax and restore your well being during your getaway.
