About the host
Hosted by Erik Acquistapace

I was born and raised in Covington. I attended high school at St. Paul's and college at LSU. I have a degree in construction management and I work with my family that is in the grocery business. I like hosting because I get to use the hospitality skills I have acquired with working in gourmet food and wine business combined with the vast knowledge that I have on how to maintain a properties. When I am not working in the store or overseeing one of our properties being remodeled for future hosting locations I am fishing at our camp on the beautiful Lake Catherine, Louisiana.
Why they chose this property
In the late 1950s, my grandmother discovered a hidden gem along the picturesque Bogue Falaya River in Covington, Louisiana. My grandparents purchased the property on the river's edge, where they would spend their summers camping in tents near the white sandy beaches. They relied on a nearby artesian spring water well, drilled 1,500 feet deep, for their drinking water. The well tapped into one of the area's most pristine aquifers, providing a continuous flow of fresh water. In 1958, my grandparents built a small two-bedroom camp on the property, while their neighbor constructed a unique, predominantly glass summer home right on the river bank. My family affectionately referred to this neighboring property as "The Glass House." A few years later, in 1962, the grandparents made the decision to open a grocery store in Covington, moving their three youngest children into the summer camp, which they later expanded to become their permanent residence. Us grandchildren spent much of their childhood at my grandparents' home, visiting three to four times a week. In 2016, I purchased my grandparents' house, and in 2017, I also acquired the neighboring Glass House. The artesian Spring well is still the water supply for the Glass House. As the owner of something that I know is special I want to share this hidden treasure with others, offering a truly unique vacation spot nestled in the woods of Covington, Louisiana.
What makes this property unique
Nestled in a picturesque wooded property along the banks of the Bogue Falaya river, a unique and captivating Glass House stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence of architecture and nature. To reach this remarkable dwelling, visitors must traverse a gravel road that winds through an authentic Louisiana backwater swamp, immersing them in the sights and sounds of the untamed wilderness. As dawn breaks, the melodic whistling of wood ducks echoes through the trees, creating a enchanting symphony that welcomes the new day. When night falls, the haunting calls of Barred owls, with their distinctive "who cooks for you" and "who cooks for you all" hoots, fill the air, serving as a reminder that the Glass House's inhabitants share their home with the diverse wildlife that thrives in this pristine environment. This extraordinary setting offers a rare opportunity to experience the beauty and serenity of nature while enjoying the comforts of modern living in a truly unique and unforgettable setting.
