About this property
Fresh Water And Trail Enthusiasts, Take A Look At One Of Maine's Hidden Gems
Welcome to our family's Summer get-away for about 70 years. Here's a little piece of why we love it so much (and we think you will too!).
Our private 2 bedroom, 1 bath wood cabin is located 3 miles out on a forest road and situated on a half acre of land along side crystal clear Craig Pond. The cabin is within 50 feet from the water and you will have open views and direct access to the lake. There will be kayaks and a canoe available for your use, as well as a BBQ grill and natural fire-pit. You are also welcome to bring your own boat(s). For bigger boat access, you can use the public beach marina on the way out to the cabin.
Our cabin has heat, electricity, a fully functioning kitchen, shower, and bathroom, as well as a washing machine, dryer and basic satellite TV. Our cabin can sleep up to eight people on one queen size, two twin size, two roll-out beds and queen sofa bed in the living room. In addition, there is a brand new small guest cabin with two Twin size beds available.
Within a mile from the cabin, you can also access the Great Pond Mountain trail head. This trail is roughly 1.5 mile to the summit of Great Pond Mountain where you will have access to all the wild blueberry picking that your heart desires, as well as witness beautiful views of area lakes, mountains, and towns at the top.
Also within a mile, you will have access to over 15 miles of trails for hiking, running, biking, or exploring. An alternate trail head is also roughly 5 miles away if you would like to explore further. We recommend checking out Hothole Pond along the trail, which is only accessible by foot. We will leave maps for you just in case.
Feel free to fish for your own salmon and trout while you're here or visit the Federal Fish Hatchery (3 miles away) for an educational tour.
We are confident that you will enjoy hours of swimming, lounging and relaxing on your own personal dock and float. But, if you need a little more excitement, we recommend taking the boats across the lake to jump off the rock ledges or check out the public beach as an additional swimming area.
Once you're done swimming or exploring, feel free to bring out a little friendly competition with play badminton, horseshoes, Croquet or board games.
Then, relax by the camp-fire

About the host
Hosted by Brenda Dehaven
Welcome and thank you for your interest in our cabin!
Brenda and I have grown up on Craig Pond our entire lives. Our parents built the cabin in 1947 while our father also worked at the local paper mill. From learning how to swim when were 3-4 years old, to learning how to water-ski when we were teenagers, to chasing our first crushes around the lake, and watching it all over again with our children--this place has our hearts!
We have chosen to open up the place for two weeks per year for others to enjoy. We can't wait to meet you!
