This is a super place. The lake was great for boating, swimming and fishing. The place was so good for kids that they abandoned their video games for the weekend.
Horrendous smell and gross things growing on the lake were obviously a major impediment to enjoyment of the place. Fortunately our group made great use of the huge main room, card table room, double oven and outdoor sports areas. The log cabin was a lovely upgrade to enjoy meeting in for dinner one night.
This is our second time staying at Lakewood Farms. Bill O'Bryan is available, friendly, inviting and fabulous to work with. He answers questions and is truly there to serve. Our group of 16 enjoyed the atmosphere, land, large stocked kitchen, and acreage around the house. It is a remarkable place to stay!
We had an absolutely incredible time staying at this gorgeous lake house. It's beautifully set up for family reunions or groups of friends, with plenty of space to hang out together, walk to the lake, cook, etc. Highly recommend!
What an amazing property for a big group get together. There’s plenty of space for sleeping, cooking, eating and an endless amount of activities to keep any group busy during their stay. We never felt any need to leave! Pictures and videos don’t do this place justice, it’s simply fantastic!
Lakewood Farms was an exceptional place to experience a weekend retreat. The natural setting is gorgeous ( the sunrise out the kitchen window!) the beauty and nostalgia of the house is welcoming and warm. Even saw a herd of 12 deer one morning! We loved every moment!
Our group of about fifteen, including four kids, had a great time! The spot is an easy drive from Milwaukee, but plenty secluded and a beautiful area. The kids had a ton of fun on the private lake with the provided paddleboat, and the house was amazingly spacious for the adults to spread out and relax. The owners were very gracious and responsive to questions - it's clear they care deeply about the property. We would definitely come back!
Beautiful spring-fed lake with good fishing 🎣. Kids loved kayaking, paddle boarding, paddle boating, rowing out to fish, & swimming. They named the giant prehistoric turtles (Petunia hangs out under the pier & so does Pete). Loads of room for our giant family with 4 full bathrooms AND 2 powder rooms. Roomy bedrooms. House & GUEST HOUSE accomodated our huge family. Resident geese & wild turkey came to visit each day & a couple of us caught a glimpse of the white deer. The property is beautiful with a lot of trees & a fun swing. Nice sandy area for the little children. Thank you fir a terrific time. 👍

Not worth the money cancel if you can
I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to give future guests an honest heads-up. This property is very expensive, and unfortunately, the quality did not come close to justifying the cost. One of the main floor rooms had a large hole in the ceiling — something that was never disclosed prior to our arrival. This was both disappointing and concerning. Guests should absolutely be made aware of visible damage like this ahead of time. The lake was another major letdown. While I understand lakes are natural environments, this one was smelly, murky, and honestly unusable during our stay. It smelled strongly of manure, and the odor carried up to the back sitting area, making it unpleasant to relax outside. We also encountered two active bees’ nests, which we reported to the owner. Instead of addressing the issue himself, he handed us bee spray and expected us to deal with it — which felt unprofessional and unsafe. The beach house toys were worn out and neglected. When we arrived, the paddle boat was full of water, and all the life jackets were soaked, even though it had been a clear, sunny day. This left a poor first impression and showed a general lack of care in maintaining the property.I would not return. For the price we paid, I left feeling disgusted and disappointed. Friends of ours stayed here several years ago and had a great experience — perhaps there are new owners now, but the property no longer lives up to the cost.
Property was perfect for Family Reunion of about 25 people.
Host was very pleasant and helpful. Only glitch was Air-conditioning failed second night and temperature got up to 85 in main house. We had to purchase 2 fans and although fixed that evening didn't cool down till following am.
The arrangement of bedrooms and bathrooms was quite unique, - loved it! Kitchen was large and so easy to fix the big family dinners we had.
The lake is more than I imagined. The kayaks and water "toys" made time on the lake so much fun for all. (No motorized boats - YaY!)
A wonderful stay for our annual family get-together!
We booked this beautiful property for a team retreat. The house was comfortable and perfect for our group gathering. The grounds are beautiful and provided lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures in our downtime. We’re looking forward to hosting our next event here! Highly recommended!
Excellent property with an abundance of activities
We had a great time. The caretaker who is also a family member of the property owner was a great help and resource and provided for our every need. I can't recommend this property any higher. It was expensive as there was a charge for each family member. I would return
We had a bachelor party group near 20 that this house was perfect for. There is so much to do on the property. There is plenty of space for games; the lake is incredible; no shortage of areas to hang out indoor or out, with plenty of seating for a large group. The house and property feel like you are isolated while there are restaurants and big grocery stores 5 min away so everything was super easy. I strongly recommend this place to others!

About the host
Hosted by David O'Bryan
We are the First, Second, Third, and Fourth generation of a large, Chicago based family. Deep Family roots pull us from all over the US and Ireland to Lakewood Farms in Mukwonago, Wisconsin.
Why they chose this property
We have grown up, worked on and enjoyed Lakewood Farm for 75 years. Only 1 1/4 hours from O'Hare International Airport, it is as much a part of our DNA as our heritage. The farm offers a unique, private destination for family adventure, family milestones and family reunions.
What makes this property unique
At any given time of the day, we sit at the top of the hill and will see family members swimming across the lake, a sailboat heeling in the wind, kayakers catching turtles in Turtle Heaven, row boats with fishing poles casting and catching, kids romping on the 'lily pad' off the pier, and sunbathers enjoying the beach. The 'Big House' features a great room with eight picture windows overlooking the lake, kitchen with eat-in breakfast room, dining room, game room, mud/laundry room. Two bedrooms, one full bath and two half baths are on the first floor. Six bedrooms and three full baths are on the second floor. Most of our memories are made outside where children can hike to roller-coaster or caterpillar hills, or back to the Mukwonago River or the sand pit or to the little barns or through the fields and trails...picking berries, catching toads, collecting wild flowers and taking pictures of our favorite Lakewood spots. Sledding in the winter, hiking through the woods to see the fall colors, playing softball on the baseball diamond or tennis at the tennis court provide plenty of alternative activities for everyone.
