The host is wonderful and very helpful. The place was beautiful and very clean I would recommend this place to others and will definitely stay here again.
OMG! This place was amazing! Absolutely gorgeous inside and out had an amazing view right on the lake! Secluded yet only about 10-15 min to town. Just what we wanted! Communication with the owner was fantastic - she was ALWAYS available! Thank you again!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Lakeside Retreat! Amazing barndominium with the modern country look and feel. Very welcoming warm and safe. The property manager was extremely outgoing and insured our stay was perfect! Highly recommend and will come back again!
We had a wonderful stay, the property was peaceful and clean. We did get a bit lost finding the home, and the road to the house is a bit steep. We did bring food to cook on the grill as listed in the amenities but arrived to find no grill. We were advised that there is a grill 2 minutes down the road. Not ideal for us as one of us has mobility impairments. For an unknown reason the carbon monoxide detectors went off at 10pm on our second night, not a big deal but a little startling. It is a cute home in a peaceful setting.

Disliked: Location, listing accuracy
Underwhelming
The inside of this property was nice and clean but everything else was left to be desired. This was listed as a lakeside property but at best it was near a lake across the road and you could see slivers of it through the trees if you looked hard enough. The hammock was completely unusable and needs replaced. One of the chairs for the fire pit was broken. Wood was stacked in an area not kept dry so we had to get our own wood. The smoke/carbon monoxide detector kept randomly going off for no reason. The house was nice and decent but it was in an area that is extremely rundown and quite frankly looked sketchy. Random dogs kept showing up on the property when we were outside. We will definitely not be returning.
No street sign and no GPS once in the area, so knowing exactly how to get to the rental is a must before heading out!It was clean and the bedrooms and beds were very nice. The Master Bedroom did not have a closet and the chest was broken so couldn’t be used. We had to work out of our suit cases. The other bedroom had a nice closet however.Full size baths. No bar soap, shampoo, or hair dryer. The only soap was a foaming hand soap that was difficult to operate. The kitchen was roomy and had a long table with chairs to accommodate all of us! It has a gas stove and oven which worked out well! The coffee pot was a single cup type and I had taken coffee to be used in a regular coffee pot. That would have been ok if there had been a pod or two to start us out, but there were none. We got up early the next morning to go buy a regular coffee pot.We were approx 1 mile from the boat ramp which was great! We enjoyed being so close as we had our boat with us!Other than a few oddities, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!
We enjoyed our stay in this very private location. The cabin sits atop what seems to be the highest hill in view overlooking Lake Barkley. The cabin is even more spacious than represented in the pictures. There are gathering places around the fireplace in the living room, kitchen table, porch table, Adirondack chairs, and around the firepit. The bunk room is fun and comfy. All of the beds are comfortable. The shower water pressure and temperature are perfect. The cabin is exceptionally clean. In other reviews people mentioned a concern about dogs. There are no roving dogs. However, there are dogs in the neighborhood below the cabin and they do bark on occasion. I considered this part of the county experience. We occasionally visit family in the area and will be happy to stay here again.
