I can’t begin to tell you how much we loved this place. I want to own this place. First, to know where we come from: Two middle aged adults who have roughed it with the best of ‘em (Tent camped in N.Ontario just previous) but enjoy our amenities. While this house could accommodate more, we loved it for just the two of us and our dogs. The layout is so cool, from the spiral staircase to the loft, every inch of space is utilized efficiently.
First, it was super clean—I never for once felt “ooo, germy.” There was even a shoe tray as you enter--We're serious "no shoes in the house" kinda folks so it was nice to have a place to plop them. The windows looking onto the lake are gorgeous. Everything in this house is made for your ease of enjoyment. Plenty of blankets for any cold nights, everything perfectly accessible from tinfoil, plastic, coffee filters and plenty of cooking utensils.
There’s an external cabin with some neat folding chairs for sitting by the harbor, a kayak for your pleasure(a couple of bunk beds if you have a group). I super appreciated how organized everything was. Wow, there was even a bit of water to start off with instead of the heavily mineraled water of “up north.” Us trolls have a hard time with the water! The swing was a joy to relax, plenty of firewood to have a lovely fire as we awaited sunset. The directions from the hosts were well-laid out.
It was obvious some care was taken with the interior decorating. Loved the sculptures, the table with the wine glasses, the shoeshine box hiding the cable, the upside down bear table. Every piece in the house you know was placed with care. Oh, and the loft couch/sleeper sofa—loved it! The downstairs bed was a dream--upstairs just ok, small and a little springy, but with a husband who is 6’5, unless there’s a king we sleep separately.
The whole area was so quiet. Walking the dogs I never saw a soul. So much close by to enjoy: Besides the mining history which is incredible, Fort Wilkins was a step back in history, the lighthouse, Hunter’s Point. The best recommendation was Johanna at Spirit of the North Wellness. Best 90 minutes of my trip. Her energy was amazing. While I was there, the husband headed to the Mary McDonald preserve and Horseshoe Harbor. There is so much more to see and do in Copper Harbor. I can’t wait for a return trip, and will definitely be at Muriel & Keith’s!!
