The house is wonderful with a ton of classic cabin character. We loved the spiral tree staircase and the comfort of the furnishings.
I would happily stay here again when visiting Gold Beach.
We absolutely loved the Nautical. It's clean, quiet, easy to find, and nestled under a giant cedar tree. The first noises we heard in the morning were the Steller's jays and ospreys. The finishes of the house are beautiful - lots of well-finished wood - beams, the staircase, salmon sculptures, etc. The back deck in the morning is a wonderful retreat - perfect place to have a cup of coffee and a set of morning stretches. Our family agreed that we will definitely come back!
Carter cabin was perfect for our family vacation and our dog enjoyed the fenced yard. Beds were very comfortable. We’ll definitely return to this cabin!

Overall good
Don't reccomend two couples, unless you're really close, not much privacy in bedrooms.
Wow! What a place. So authentic and cozy. Loved all of the details from the carvings in the railings, to the wood burning fireplace. Every where we turned we kept finding surprises. The back deck was AMAZING! Such a great stay. Thanks for sharing your home with our family.
The Carter House worked well for our family. We enjoyed the uniqueness of the property. The host was available by phone to meet any needs. Internet was too slow for scheduled zoom or pretty much anything via internet. It was a nice digital detox.
The Carter House really stands out amongst the sea of bland, white-box beach bummers that litter sites like these. This hand-crafted gem is nestled high on an eastern-facing hill amongst large swaying evergreens that seem perpetually at peace no matter the coastal winds. The fully enclosed front yard was bathed in sunlight all day and the spacious back patio was quiet and secluded. And did I mention the craftsmanship? Wow. The stained glass window, dining room bench/window alcove, ample built-in storage and hand-carved details in the stairway bannister had my wife and I insane with cabin envy. We were continually impressed by personal touches provided by Leslie, like including firewood for nightly warmth, a couple dog treats on the counter for our puppies, and assistance in tracking down lost items after our stay. This place renewed my faith in online home-share sites. We'll be back!
The four of us absolutely loved this fantastic vacation rental!
The house is conveniently located within 7 minutes driving to Gold Beach. It's situated in such a way that seems very private within the surrounding trees.
Our host communicated wonderfully throughout the process of booking and checking in and out, and was quick to respond to my many questions.
The house itself is beautiful with it's natural wood throughout, tasteful decor, and cleanliness.
The beds and linens were super comfy!
Cooking in this house was a delight with plentiful kitchen utensils and dinnerware.
Relaxing on the deck every evening after a day of adventuring was heavenly! Deer and their fawns came by every day and were not bothered by our presence as they would just lay on the lawn and relax.
It's nice to have two bathrooms with four adults, and also to have the bedrooms upstairs so people can watch tv downstairs without disturbing those sleeping.
We would stay here again in a hot flash should we return for another visit to Gold Beach!
Amazing cabin tucked away in the pine trees. Loved the deck and views, the proximity to the ocean and hiking trails, and the great condition of the cabin
We absolutely love Carter House. The house is located in a private location with a fully fenced in yard where our dogs can run and explore. It is situated very close to beaches so the salty sea air wafts in and creates the "on the beach" atmosphere. Leslie is created the magical coastal experience where we are sure to return again.
Nautical house was perfect for us and our dogs. We loved having a comfortable and cozy spot from which we hiked, rode many many miles on our bikes, prepared delicious food (your recommendation for pizza was spot on and we are there twice) and just relaxed . Both my husband and I thought this was our best vacation ever and that’s saying a lot!!!

It was a nice house though we did not realize it had the one spiral staircase to get upstairs. There was no extra wood for the fireplace like the pics show. And there are neighbors around and next door though they keep to themselves so it was not an issue. Easy to find and in the forest. Really close to the beach and right outside of Gold Beach. Overall, a nice stay with a family of hummingbirds to watch and deer hanging out.
We stayed here a few days on a road trip and enjoyed the quiet seclusion of this house near Gold Beach. We worked remotely, and had no trouble with the internet! It's a convenient location very close to 101 and the beaches, and we got to explore a lot of the shoreline while were here. We had delicious food from Groundlings pizza and Woggy's fish & chips food truck, highly recommended!
Nice, cabiny, outdoor feel in the home. great that it is only a few miles from the beach. road into the home was a little narrow but more than enough space for our cars. great time, looking forward to visiting again
This place was extremely dog-friendly and so quaint. I loved the design and easy access of the house, being right off the loop and close to the beach. I would like to stay here again as I have 4 dogs. Thank you so much!
We absolutely loved our stay. The home is extremely cozy and has so much character! The couch was so comfortable as were the beds. The kitchen was very easy to cook in and had everything you could need. We used the barbecue and sat on the back deck. We didn’t have a chance to build a fire, but there was firewood for us if we wanted to. It was extremely windy in town and on the beach, but the property is well protected by trees and we did not have any wind on the back deck or in the grassy area. But we could hear the beautiful breeze blowing at the top of the trees, Our dogs had a blast in the freedom of the fenced in yard. This home is very rustic and quaint. We will 100% be back again this time next year, if not sooner.
Very nice place for couple or small family! Great for pets - nice fenced yard and deck! You feel like you're in the woods despite being in a neighborhood.
Great place to stay with your dogs. Very prompt communication from the owners. We reported the shower not draining properly and they immediately let us know they will come over and repaired it.
We enjoyed our time staying at the Carter house. The house is beautiful with many interesting architectural elements. It was quiet and peaceful.

About the host
Hosted by Leslie Carter
We live in Gold Beach and moved from Southern California because we fell in love with this area. We have two yellow labs, enjoy fishing the Rogue River for Chinook Salmon, walking on the local beaches and hiking.
Why they chose this property
We have been coming up to the Gold Beach area for over 12 years and always wanted to make Gold Beach our home. We loved the Rogue river, the ocean, and the beautiful nature all around the area. Deer roam around the yard and you can walk your dog on the beach with hardly seeing another person. This home was built by a long time resident of Gold Beach and we instantly fell in love with this fine home.
What makes this property unique
This home is quiet and nestled so that you are out of the wind. You can hear the ocean at night and the rustling of the trees. Ample parking for boat and car. You are out of the way, yet close to town, beach, river and all attractions. World class golf course, Bandon Dunes is 1 hour away and smaller golf course, Cedar Bend is minutes away.
