The cottage is wonderful, views are amazing and having use of the kayaks and paddle board is a great feature of the rental. We were on the water every day of our stay!

This is a rustic older camp down a dirt road. It is quiet with great views from the porch. We have been going for many years now and love the time away from the daily hassle and noise. The kayaks and paddle board are fully equipped, the hammock is a great nap spot and the loons keep us entertained. Just what our family loves.Thank you Judy and David for sharing this lovely spot with us!

This is the ideal property for nature lovers. It's remote enough without being too far from necessities. The house is a cute and tidy cabin, though if you're like us, you're only in it for sleep. And sleeping with the windows open and the breeze off the pond makes it feel like you're outside anyways. It's really all about the porch here, though. The owners are great people and so are the neighbors! The pond is super quiet. There is plenty more I could say but that sums it up!

Always enjoyed

We have stayed here several times. The cottage is a little rough, but fine for a short stay. We always leave wanting to come back.

Beautiful spot!

We had great stay. The pond and Ettowah cove are beautiful and hospitable. Amazing natural surroundings and great proximity to other scenic and fun areas. The cabin was great - just needs a sliding screen door! Loved the kayaks, canoe, pristine views and amazing and swimmable sandy shores and water.

Nice little spot

We have stayed here several times. The cottage leans more toward camp than summer home, but we love the location. The owner takes care of problems quickly and makes improvements every year.

This property is fantastic. The new owners are great! I have been staying here for many many years. One of my familys favorite places to be. The new owners have made some upgrades and did a thorough deep cleaning. My famiky and I couldnt be happier with the rental. Will be returning often for sure!

This cottage is part of an old boy’s camp. It is rustic and small but it has everything we needed to be comfortable and to enjoy this quiet spot. Under new ownership there have been both structural and cosmetic improvements. The cottage is clean and basic. The view is lovely.
Mostly our own kayaks on the small beach. The water level was very low this year which allowed exposure of this sandy area.

Awesome vacation

The place is beautiful. Stocked with everything you need at camp in case you forget it. The little sun room was perfect on that one rainy day for book reading. All in all a wonderful experience for me and my family. Thank you.

Lori, Glad everything was good, except for the spiders and mosquitos. Because we are on the lake, we do not want to treat for mosquitos. The spiders and dragonflies are predators who love mosquitoes so they are important too. The fish depend on mosquito larvae/mosquitoes as a food source. And I hear the fishing is quite good. Aleta

Perfect cabin getaway

I adore this place, it’s plenty spacious even with four kids. A little harder to baby proof for anyone concerned, and could be a little more rustic for prissy people. But if you’re looking for a cabin deep in the woods on the most beautiful pond, this is it. So quiet here and on the water. Just don’t be scared of bugs.

Gorgeous view but uncomfortable due to excessive spiders, mosquitoes and lack upkeep /cleanliness

We began our week by needing to thoroughly clean the cabin ., the view of mountains and quiet of the lake was beautiful., but we needed to leave daily and find water holes and areas to swim as every time we walked outside we were swarmed with bugs and they covered the water also. Kayaking was amazing once we were able to leave the cottage area and get away from the mosquitoes.

Perfect location

It’s a great rustic cabin but is definitely for people expecting rustic. There is mouse poop in the cabinets and the neighbors wandering dogs poop in the yard, as well as a very mildew smell. But we are here for the porch and the pond so the interior doesn’t matter much for us. If you have little babies, you can’t baby gate off the stairs inside and the drop down room or the porch so something to consider. It’s a nature lovers paradise. The pond is relatively quiet and truly picturesque.

Carolyn, You should have told me about mouse droppings. The cottage is throughly cleaned in early June and my exterminator comes for a guaranteed 3 month treatment. I would have had them come back for a second treatment ent. So sorry. It was exceptionally humid which does promote a moldy odor from the sweating toilet tanks. But I am glad you enjoyed the real star of the cottage … the lake and the beautiful views! real

Very beautiful spot right on the water

The location is amazing and the deck is literally right over the water! The house fit all of us (7) just fine but could have been cleaned a bit better. We had to immediately buy toilet paper as there were only partial rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom with no backup rolls, there were quite a few cobwebs in a lot of the corners and the freezer smelled like fish. Overall, a bit rustic but we would stay here again due to the location on the water, the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere but actually being very close to Fryeburg and North Conway!

Lovely lake house

We really enjoyed our stay at the lake house. While it could have been a bit cleaner, considering the price and the amazing location with its stunning view, it's an absolute steal. However, if you're not a fan of spiders or small insects, you might want to think twice before booking. Since the house is perched right over the lake, there are quite a few cobwebs and various insects around the deck. On the plus side, you'll also get to enjoy sightings of hummingbirds and other rare birds you don’t often see in daily life. They offer kayaks and a canoe, which we—and our dog—had a great time using. The water is clean and perfect for swimming. Overall, I highly recommend it!

A few tweaks and it would be perfect

The location and size of this property are great! Loved kayaking and swimming in the lake, hiking, sitting on the deck enjoying the view. Only two drawbacks to this listing. First, there is a pronounced urine odor on the first floor when the house was opened. It’s bad in the bath and in the first floor bedroom. Once the house airs out, it’s better. We noted late in the week that a litter box was present underneath the northwest corner of the house. Second thing is that the screens on the front and rear doors are secured with Velcro and let in flies and mosquitoes when people move between the decks and inside. Overall, very enjoyable stay!

I allow pets at my cottage, hoping that the owners are responsible, which may have not been the case with the previous renter. Unfortunately the maids did not notice anything while they were there. I can not fault them since they are hired to clean the interior. The walk through screens are hung because the front door is not configured for the installation of a screen/storm door. The sliding glass door to the deck had a screen which was destroyed by an animal. I searched and searched for a replacement, but after several tries of various brands, discovered that none worked properly. The walk through screen was the solution and it made a big difference, especially if the sliding door is closed past the opening after passing through.

The location was great in terms of not having much traffic nearby or on the water. We spent the week watching the the mountains, water, stars, and hummingbirds.

Our fourth visit

No place is perfect, but we love several aspects of this property. We will probably try to rent again and don't want to say too much and create more competition for ourselves. It's getting hard enough to find lakefront places around Fryeburg. The owner is a fine hose, and very responsive if any issues come up.

Great place to unplug

Beautiful lake! Great spot for kids (if they like to fish, kayak, swim!). Not having wifi was great! We have 4 boys (12, 9, 7, 4) and it was wonderful to have them unplugged for a week! We made day trips to a mineral mine, Diana's Bath, Santa's Village, Flume Gorge and North Conway. Easy location to be able to fully enjoy the White Mountains! We also brought our dog with us. We snorkled all the way around Loon Island looking for fish one afternoon! Such a clean lake! I do wish the floating swim-dock was closer to shore. It was tricky to get my 3 younger ones there! Also, I did step on a nail right outside the house on our last day. Very small puncture, but I did need to go to urgent care to get a tetanus booster.
