About this property

The Buckeye Valley House is conveniently located near: • Boone (25 minute drive) • Beech Mountain (20 minute drive) • Banner Elk (30 minute drive) Plan to spend some time enjoying: • The sights of nature • Unwind on the front porch to the sound of Buckeye Creek • Build a fire in the stone fire pit, gaze up at the stars, + relax The Buckeye Valley House is perfect for a cozy small family getaway or couples retreat. Deer and song birds are the most frequent visitors to the property, although occasionally you may catch sight of an owl, bear or fox. What you'll find in the house: INTERNET// High speed fiber optic WIFI internet, with download speeds of up to 600 mbps and upload speeds of 200 mbps ensures that if you need to connect with your realty, you can do so. LIVING ROOM // Smart TV with Netflix KITCHEN // Granite counter tops, double filtered, UV sanitized water supply and a kitchen with all the cooking instruments you will need to prepare your favorite meal. 12-cup coffee maker, glassware, dinnerware, baking dishes, pots/pans, measuring cups/spoons, knives, and utensils. Our circular kitchen table seats four, and we have additional chairs to seat up to six people. BEDROOM 1 // King size bed, blackout blinds, walk-in closet and private bathroom. BEDROOM 2 // A playful bedroom with a bunk bed and attached slide. The bunk bed has a twin bed on top and a full bed on the bottom. THE OFFICE // Stand-up desk with WIFI printer, and a sofa that converts to a full size bed. In the unlikely event of a power loss during a storm, your laptop with a USB port can connect directly to the fiber internet so that you remain connected, if desired. WASHER/DRYER // Full size washer & dryer. PETS // FEE $50.00 Maximum of 2 small/medium dogs. Furry family members are not allowed on furniture. Please be respectful of the inside and outside of the property. It is not fenced and there are bears and other wild animals so a leash is required when outdoors. Non-refundable pet deposit required for wear and tear and extra cleaning. HIKING TRAIL // We invite you to use our marked, private 1.5 mile hiking trail, but ask that you stay on the trail so as not to wander onto neighboring properties. Please respect the nature you encounter and leave the area in the same condition in which you found it. The hiking trail is a difficult, up-mountain trail over rough and steep terrain, which is a combination of old farm trails and deer trails. OUTDOOR FIRE PIT// Chairs with side table seating for four, with plenty of space for additional folks. A nearby neighbor sells wood for the fire pit; see the wood shed in our photographs. The neighbor provides the amount of wood in the photograph for $20. Contact information is provided upon booking. We have gear for roasting marshmallows, a small 12-inch X 12-inch folding grill for cooking on the embers, and several utensils for cooking. Guest have access to Buckeye Creek and our private 1.5 mile hiking trail. I am here for you during your stay, but our level of interaction is up to you. I'm only a phone call or a text message away. You will be able to self check-in upon arrival. This is a rural cabin in the mountain forest. The closest convenience store is about a 15 minute drive, and the nearest supermarkets/restaurants are in Boone, Banner Elk and on Beech Mountain. Our neighbors up the mountain raise chickens and goats. You may hear chicken and rooster noises, especially in the morning. Although bears are not regular visitors, you may see a bear. Please be sure not to leave any food outside and to place all trash in the receptable in the bear bin. We recommend that you download directions before leaving on your trip, as not all cell carriers provide a signal in our area. It is best to arrive before dark, the area is very dark at night. If you are traveling in the winter months, we strongly recommend that you come in a 4WD or AWD vehicle. In snow or ice conditions, the mountain roads are quite difficult to navigate without 4WD or AWD. The gravel driveway from the street is shared with 2 neighbors up the mountain and we only have access to the part near our home. Please do not block the ascending part of the driveway. Also, other than using the ascending part of the driveway to access the hiking trail on foot, and when the hiking trail crosses the gravel drive higher up the mountain, guests are not permitted to use the gravel driveway ascending or descending the mountain. Because of the remoteness of the area, the home uses a septic tank. Other than toilet paper, please do not flush anything down the toilets unless you have eaten it. In the summer months, the temperature is generally very comfortable in our area. For the infrequent hot days, we have window fans which keep the home cool, but we do not have air conditioning; if air conditioning in the mountains in a necessity for you, please find another place to stay. If a guest has no reviews, we require AirBnB verifications of photograph, phone, e-mail, government I.D. and you must be at least 25 years of age. We have a neighbor to the left, and there are 2 homes above us on the mountain which access their properties via the gravel road. Do not block the gravel road.
