Mahalo Monique! We luv having you return to Pu'u Menehune and we welcome all of the positive energy that comes with you!
We enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. We loved not being able to see the neighbors and the views of Mauna Kea were gorgeous. Very relaxing. However, we did have to do some light cleaning on arrival (windows and porch were covered in cobwebs, dead bugs were present in a few rooms, flowers were left over from the last guests and the primary bathroom had a mildewed toilet seat). We also didn't realize until we arrived that we had to take all of our trash to the transfer station ourselves...not difficult or a big deal, just an unexpected surprise. The sun room/dining room and wraparound porch were highlights, with lots of time spent admiring the views. Friendly word to the wise: if you have a rear-wheel drive vehicle and it has been rainy during your visit, park near the private road, at the top of the hill...we almost got stuck at the bottom of the hill the one time we parked right next to the house.

My bad for not telling our housekeeper about this guest's arrival. A beautiful tropical flower arrangement was left over from our housekeeper's welcoming of a prior guest and the pre-cleaning our housekeeper always does prior to check-in was not done for the same reason. Again, my bad. One of our toilet seats and lid had some mildew stains these guests brought to our attention during their stay, and we promptly replaced the seat and lid. No guest has ever been stuck going up our gravel driveway. It is a country ranch-lot with a long, meandering, mowed, grass driveway!!! That is nice-part of the charm and mystery of the Property. These guests had an unexpected flight delay due to a tropical storm passing the Big Island and asked for a 2-day extension. We volunteered a $100/day discount on the booking rate to show them some Aloha!
The views and serenity of the property are unmatched. The kitchen was extremely well equipped. The house can get chilly, but the mobile heaters were a big help. The property offers a unique opportunity to stay in a historical home.

Klaus, thank you for your patronage of Pu'u Menehune and for leaving "her" in such good condition! Please return and join us again! "a hui hou" (until we meet again)
This was our second stay at Pu'u Menehune and was every bit as enjoyable as our first. The house is exactly as described, comfortable but with lots of antiques. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were nice. The views of Mauna Kea are the star of the show. Even a rainy week was very peaceful, complete with cozy blankets. We were fortunate enough to see the i'o (hawaiian hawk). Look forward to our next chance to return.
What an amazing place. It felt like an honour that the host would open this spectacular place for visitors. Words can't describe enough how special this location is. The host was clear upfront about the location and how to take care of it, he was responsive and very welcoming. It far exceeded my expectations.
The perfect location to enjoy visiting the Big Island
Quiet, peaceful and beautiful, this location is ideal for anyone who wants to avoid the business of Kona or Hilo but still access the island hotspots within 2 hours. Waimea is very close and has all amenities, but you still feel like you are in the country.
We felt so blessed to stay in such a beautiful place. The history of the house, the surrounding nature, it was all more than we could have dreamed of. Away from the hustle and bustle, our family could relax and enjoy each other while exploring the natural beauty all around us. Mahalo for sharing this magical space, we cannot wait to come again!
Great location with beautiful views of the valley. Very quiet at night, but close to town for groceries/dinners. Saturday was a great farmers market with lots of local produce. Good base camp for side trips to waterfalls and beaches, or just stay and enjoy the peace.
Pu’u Menehune is always an amazing and memorable experience. We will continue to return to heaven on earth as long as the host continues to share Pu’u Menehune with us. Mahalo Nui Loa
Perfect location. Perfect weather. Exactly what we needed

Mark, thank you for your telephone call today and for your nice words about your stay at Pu'u Menehune to celebrate two special occasions. We also appreciate your compliments about the recent renovations and upgrades we made to the property since your visit last year! We also enjoyed hearing about you enjoying the fresh oranges, clementines, and grapefruits you picked from our garden!
Thank you for your repeat stays at our property! Please come visit us again soon!
Aloha and Mahalo Nui Loa! Peter, proprietor of Pu'u Menehune!
The property is more beautiful than the listing. Peter is a very responsive host. We saw so many birds each day. We even had multiple sightings of the very rare i'o and pueo. It was our favorite part of the island and it's just a few minutes from Waimea Town. I hope to stay here again.
This charming home nestled in the green pastures of Parker Ranch's past. The wrap around porch and plethora of windows was enchanting. We loved watching the horses graze and the many varieties of birds and each with their own special song. We were blessed to call Pu'u Menehune home for far too short a time!
We have stayed at Pu’u Menehune several times in the past and always leave with the intent of returning again. We absolutely love the peace and tranquillity that this amazing property offers, from the panoramic views of Mauna Kea, to the lush pastoral landscape. The home is comfy cozy with all the necessities for cooking, lounging and the perfect beds for sweet dreams!
The convenience of modern day living is literally minutes away, along with a great Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and multiple farm to table eateries to choose from.
We continue to be grateful to have the opportunity to stay at Pu’u Menehune and can’t wait to return!

Mahalo Monique for your throughtful review, and we are pleased you once again enjoyed your annual stay! We appreciate your patronage, and we look forward to your future return to Pu'u Menehune (located in "God's Country")! Peter
My husband and I stayed at this home for a vacation on the Big Island, but he needed to work for a few hours each day--the wifi was excellent. He set up on the dining room table which looks out to Mauna Kea. So many birds! The koa trees planted on the property are habitat for many, many birds. Waimea is at 2700 feet elevation so bring a hoodie! I wore shorts and a hoodie and was comfortable running around town. Hapuna beach is just down the hill, we went almost every day. This property is the perfect location for my husband and me (a birder): quiet, beautiful, close enough to the beach.
