The Oak House in historic West, TX Minutes from Magnolia Silos & Baylor
Guests are sure to enjoy a memorable vacation in this fully furnished, 5 bedroom/2.5 bath house. This cool house that was built in 1919 has all the modern features but has kept the hundred year old charm. Although this house has been through extensive renovation for your comfort, many of the elements from 100 years ago remain...the crystal doorknobs, the ceiling fans, beautiful rare wood floors, the original coal shoot, shiplap, the wavy glass in the windows. It's hard to believe that this house has withstood 100 years! The main/master bedroom has a king-sized bed, while the 3 rooms upstairs are furnished with a queen-sized beds and the 4th room upstairs with a full bed., comfortable for sleeping 10 people. There is also plenty of floor space in the event that you bring an air mattress or two. The quaint living room is fully furnished. The kitchen is perfect for dining as it is fully equipped with oven, and fridge. There is also a full laundry room for you to access. Feel free to enjoy the free wifi! Spend the day enjoying nearby bakeries and shopping local: Czech Stop, Slovacek's, Gerik's Bakery, Village Bakery, Carla's Collage, Divine Designs, Blessings, Pasture Princess, Olde Corner Antiques or drive 15 minutes to Waco to visit the Magnolia Market, home of HGTV's Fixer Upper. Interestingly, we were chosen to be on Fixer Upper for season One, Two and Three. We ultimately declined the opportunity and enjoyed doing our own Fixer Upper. This house has been fully renovated; new plumbing, new electrical system, new HVAC. Our Home is also available for daytime events Sunday afternoon - Thursday afternoon. ($150)

This was a great house for a large family to gather. Very convenient to Waco/Baylor and very well stocked. Plenty of room for everyone and great host communication.
The house exceeded our expectations. It was decorated beautifully and had everything we could possibly need. Carla is a fantastic host and we will definitely stay again.

Family wedding get together
We had a wedding in Waco for my cousin and this house accommodated all the out of town travelers. There were about 15 of us all including the kids. Carla was very responsive and accommodating from the beginning. This is an older house that has been remodeled but still has that old time charm to the house. I would definitely stay again. Thanks.
Our family reunion is held at Tours Hall every summer. We usually stay at a local hotel l. This year we have the wonderful addition of our 9 month granddaughter so we thought a house might suit us better. This house was perfect! It has everything that you could possibly need. It is big and roomy and do well stocked. The front porch is the perfect place for morning coffee and visiting. We walked to the kolache and pizza shops. Carla was an amazing host. We will definitely be back year after year!
We were so happy with The Oak House. This place has 5 bedrooms and 4 of those are very large, making ample room for air mattresses if needed. The kitchen was roomy, and the two dining areas made for great spreads, board games, and conversation.
I was worried noise would vary throughout the house but it was not bad at all.
My kids enjoyed the basketball hoop.
There was a corner store and a restaurant within walking distance, plus Starbucks, McDonald’s, Sonic and a huge gas station within a mile.
We made our way down to Waco several times for tourism, groceries, and shopping.
Carla was a great host! The house was. Lean and tidy, and checkin was extremely easy. She knew we were staying in town for our university’s homecoming and had school themed decorations in place, and left us a welcome cake. There’s a binder full of recommendations of all the best places to eat, etc. everything in the house was nicely labeled making it extremely easy to find anything. A truely lovely experience.
We were looking for a special place for baby shower. Our daughter-in-law’s out of town guests wanted to have a girls weekend while together. We combined it all with additional guests for a brunch shower and this location was perfect! We had everything plus extras; the owner was so accommodating and a step ahead with everything! Definitely 5 stars and above!
We had a wonderful stay with all of the amenities you could possibly imagine! We LOVED the house and location was within walking distance to cute little boutiques, restaurants and bars! Great for a relaxing and fun Girls weekend!! It was perfect and so was the host!! Check in process was super easy and had ample parking! We were shown some lovely hospitality by a local family owned breakfast taco place that delivered our breakfast this morning! Thank you again! We will definitely be happy to come back and refer! Thanks again for the warm welcome and that delicious (and HUGE) cinnamon roll!!
We enjoyed our stay. Loved being in town and seeing family. We enjoyed the house. We felt like we were home well we were there!! Everything you need is there for you!
Thank you
We were in town for a wedding! Home had plenty of space ! Creaky is right, but charming! Those trains though…..we had a good laugh about different conductors and how long they blew their horn! Thanks for having us! And being flexible about check in and check out!
We visited the magnolia market. We had a great stay and the house is super clean. I love how they redid the house it looks great and is comfortable! Property manager was very easy to get a hold of and very willing to make our stay great. Thank you!
We stayed here for a weekend trip to Waco and Fort Worth. Perfect location outside of the bustling cities. About 20 minutes to Waco and an hour to Fort Worth. Spacious house - we had 6 adults and 2 babies and never felt cramped. Kitchen was fully stocked, great bakery across the street, easy access to the interstate without feeling like you are right on it. House is gorgeous - beauty of an old house with the convenience of updated fixtures. Carla was an amazing host! She was very responsive and gave great recommendations! Will definitely stay here again when we come back to the area.
Our stay in west at the Oak House was wonderful! Our family gathered here for the OU Baylor football game - we traveled from Duncan, Edmond and Clinton Oklahoma, Bryan Texas and upstate New York !! It was the perfect place for our whole family to catch up and enjoy one another. The house had plenty of space for the 11 of us. It was cozy, spacious and rich in history, which made everyone feel super comfortable! We ate nearby at the Tipsy Lion and picked up food across the stress from the pizza house - even enjoyed using the basketball goal for a little pee dinner game! Our host Carla was fabulous and checked in to make sure we were taken care of! Everything was easy, accessible and very clean - we all highly recommend staying here!
There were eight of us and we were in the area one night for a Baylor game. Some of the girls wanted to stay in a restored home and this one was just perfect. So many little touches and the ambience of a by-gone era. It was evident that this is an owner that really cares! on the way to the game we went just down the street to the bakery! It was such a fun stay!
Beautiful historic home that was immaculate and beautifully renovated while still being homey and comfortable. The kitchen and linens were amply supplied and of nice quality. The outside temperatures were near 100 degrees and the AC system kept everyone cool even the bedrooms on the 2nd floor.

Why they chose this property
People have loved this home for many, many years. As a matter of fact, that is how we ended up with it. I just love it. This home was built in 1919 and has been an icon in West since the beginning. Visible when you are coming into West or when you are leaving, it is certainly an important piece of the history of West. This home survived many years and events, including the West Explosion. We spent close to two years renovating this home literally from top to bottom. All of the historic charm plus all of the modern is truly perfect!
What makes this property unique
Recent renovation: All new plumbing, HVAC and electrical. Free wifi and Direct TV, washer/dryer, full kitchen and the sweetest little side porch to watch the town of West go by while having coffee. This home is within walking distance to all of the bakeries, downtown shopping and area churches.
