What a special property! Everything was so beautiful but not precious. When staying in an historic home, one would worry that everything would be fragile and fussy. Yes, it is stunning from the most incredible original hardwood floors, a staircase that takes your breath away and even original hardware on the according glass door to the living room. But it felt comfortable and homey. When we walked in, the place smelled so clean and fresh. We have a senior dog and we so appreciated the little personal touches meant for him from a great dog bowl table, a mat for him to stand on when he ate (perfect for senior legs), hooks right above for his gear, a special pet blanket in the living room and the most perfect little fenced in yard for him to explore. There was great little seating area in the breezeway between the garage (it was just wonderful to have a garage given that you are in the heart of a city) and the house. The location was great. Only about 40mins away from Gettysburg and right in the heart of Amish country. Do not skip going to Maplewood Farm Market. Some of most delicious sandwiches and baked goods. And gosh, the peaches! Oh the peaches! I will be dreaming about them. My one suggestion, given that garbage pick-up is only 1x a week, would be to have large closed top rubbermaid garbage cans in the garage. One for garbage, one for recycling and one cardboard. The smell of garbage when we pulled into the garage was not the best first impression.
