Wrangler's Den: 4BR Cabin on 64-Acre Horse Farm + Private Hot Tub
For a few days, make our farm your own.
Wrangler's Den is a spacious four-bedroom log cabin on Country Manor Acres, our family's 64-acre working horse farm and wedding estate in Townsend, Tennessee.
You'll have your own private cabin, covered front porch, side deck and hot tub—but the cabin is only part of what you're coming here for.
At Country Manor Acres, we measure luxury a little differently.
Some of the most valuable parts of our property are the acres we've chosen not to build on.
Our accommodations are scattered across 64 acres because we believe open space has value. It gives our horses pasture, our guests room to wander, our children room to explore, and all of us something that's becoming increasingly difficult to find: room to breathe.
Walk the trails through woods and open fields. Wander down to the stables and visit the horses. Meet the animals at the petting farm. Bring a fishing pole to the catch-and-release pond. Explore the gardens. When the season is right, keep an eye out for wild blackberries, blueberries and mulberries growing around the property.
Private guided horseback rides are available by appointment, as are horse-drawn wagon and carriage experiences. We intentionally limit the number of rides we offer each day because we don't believe in overusing our horses—or our land.
And you don't have to schedule every minute.
Find a rocking chair. Watch the horses. Let the kids explore. Take the boat out on the pond. Walk a trail with nowhere particular to go. Pick wild berries when they're in season. Or head to our shared estate fire pit, where one of the best views on the property makes it especially hard to leave once the evening settles in.
Then, after dark, step outside and look up.
Away from the glow of the city, clear nights reveal a sky filled with stars—the kind of night sky many of us have almost forgotten exists.
THE CABIN
Wrangler's Den was built in the 1990s in the tradition of the pioneer cabins found in nearby Cades Cove. The goal was to capture the warmth and character of an earlier Smoky Mountain cabin while providing the comforts of modern life.
We've continued that philosophy ever since.
You'll find comfortable bedding, central heat and air, Wi-Fi, television, an equipped kitchen and private hot tub, along with some well-kept original fixtures and features that have served the cabin perfectly well for years.
We don't believe something loses its value simply because something newer has been invented.
The main floor includes one queen bedroom, a full bathroom with tub/shower combination, an equipped kitchen and dining area, and an open living room with stone fireplace, queen futon and sofa. A ramp provides step-free entry into the cabin, although we do not represent the cabin as fully wheelchair accessible.
Upstairs are three additional bedrooms:
• King bed + twin bed + twin trundle • Two queen beds • One queen bed
The upstairs full bathroom has a walk-in shower.
Wrangler's Den accommodates a maximum of 13 overnight guests.
Outside, settle into a rocking chair on the covered front porch or head around to the side deck and unwind in your private hot tub.
LIFE ON THE FARM
Country Manor Acres is our home as well as our family business.
You may see Nicole working with the horses, Jeff driving the wagon or maintaining the property, April tending to something around the farm, our children playing near the barn, chickens wandering where chickens please, or our dog deciding another trip down the trail sounds like a good idea.
Nothing has been staged for your arrival.
That's simply life here.
We love meeting our guests and helping you experience the property, but we also respect your privacy. Think of us as nearby when you want us—and out of the way when you don't.
There is life around you, but rarely a crowd.
We've intentionally kept the number of accommodations small for 64 acres. You might walk a trail without seeing another person and later meet another family fishing at the pond or enjoying a fire.
It's privacy without isolation.
A WORKING HORSE FARM & WEDDING ESTATE
Country Manor Acres is also a wedding estate, which is one reason so much care goes into maintaining the landscape.
The fields, gardens and mountain views couples choose for their wedding photographs are the same surroundings our lodging guests wake up to every morning. Depending on when you visit, you may even look across the property and catch a glimpse of a wedding taking place on a distant hillside.
The wedding estate and horse farm have shaped the way we care for this land. We could build more accommodations. We could run more trail rides.
We've chosen not to.
We believe some things become more valuable when they aren't overused.
LESS THAN TWO MINUTES FROM TOWNSEND
Perhaps the biggest surprise is how close all of this is to town.
Country Manor Acres is less than two minutes from the restaurants, shops and everyday conveniences of downtown Townsend and only minutes from the entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Spend the morning exploring the Smokies. Float or kayak the Little River. Grab lunch in town. Head toward Cades Cove. Or bicycle approximately half a mile from the farm to connect with Townsend's paved bicycle trail.
Then turn back down our gravel road and feel as though you've left the busy world behind.
You don't have to go far away to get away.
A DIFFERENT MEASURE OF LUXURY
Our roads are gravel, and country life comes with nature. You may encounter insects, wildlife, leaves, pollen, dust, changing weather and an occasional muddy spot after a Tennessee rain.
We consider those part of being in the country rather than flaws in the experience.
If your idea of luxury includes 64 acres to explore, mountain views, horses outside your door, a sky full of stars, room for the kids to roam, and a place that hasn't been polished until its character disappeared, you may find that Country Manor Acres offers something much harder to find.
This isn't a resort designed to resemble the Smoky Mountains.
This is life in the Smoky Mountains.
And for a few days, this is your farm too.

Perfect location. We enjoyed the property so much we didn’t want to venture out much! Visiting with the horses and donkey were the highlights of our stay. Cabin was comfortable and quiet. Our host was very attentive and I would highly recommend this cabin. We’ll be back next year for sure.
The Wranglers Den was in the perfect location and had an incredible setting. We like the quiet side of the Smokies away from all of the commercialism and this was exactly what we were looking for. We were traveling with our 9 month old granddaughter who loved visiting the horses, Pete the dog, and donkey "Little Jack." The Wranglers Den was ready for us when we arrived with no check in hassles and was easy to find. We had numbers to reach the owner in case we needed anything. We had our breakfast on the big covered front porch every morning with a beautiful view. If you like a quiet, laid back setting, you won't regret staying here. We would definitely stay here again.

About the host
Hosted by Jeff Jopling
Country Manor Acres is our home as well as our family business. Our family lives and works here, caring for the horses, maintaining the property, hosting weddings and welcoming lodging guests from around the world.
You may see Nicole working at the stables, Jeff driving the wagon, April somewhere around the farm, our children playing near the barn or our dog following a trail ride.
We enjoy getting to know our guests and sharing the property with them, but we also understand that sometimes the greatest luxury is being left alone. We're nearby when you need us and out of the way when you don't.
Why they chose this property
Townsend gives us something increasingly rare in the Smokies: extraordinary access without the crowds.
We're less than two minutes from downtown Townsend and only minutes from Great Smoky Mountains National Park, yet once you turn down our gravel road, the restaurants, traffic and busy world seem to disappear.
We love being close enough to enjoy everything the area offers while still coming home to horses, open fields, mountain views, dark skies and 64 acres with room to breathe.
What makes this property unique
Some of the most valuable parts of Country Manor Acres are the acres we've chosen not to build on.
Wrangler's Den is part of our family's 64-acre working horse farm and wedding estate, where open space is part of the experience. Step outside your cabin and you're not entering a resort complex—you're stepping onto the farm.
Walk the trails, visit the horses, fish the pond, explore the gardens, take a horseback or wagon ride by appointment, or simply find somewhere beautiful and stay awhile.
There is life here, but rarely a crowd.
For a few days, this is your farm too.
