Welcome to Paradise on North Captiva Island! Sunny By You Beach House is a newly updated, beautifully furnished and decorated beach home, just steps from spectacular Sunset Beach. North Captiva Island is a magical place- there is nowhere else like it. The island is only accessible by boat or plane. This gorgeous barrier island has miles of natural beaches and half the island is in Florida State Park Reserve Land with lovely trails. There are just a few hundred homes, sand trails for roads, no cars with just golf carts for getting around.

Dining Options on North Captiva Island
If you want a break from preparing your own meals, there are other options for dining. North Captiva has several private chefs who will cook for you in our home, or send a prepared meal on the ferry. There are *currently 3 restaurants to choose from - Mango’s, Mainstay and Over the Waterfront for dining in or takeout. Hours change regularly so check with them as you are planning.

North Captiva was born in 1921 when a hurricane separated us from our neighbor, Captiva Island, to the south and no bridge was ever built to connect us. North Captiva is the ultimate in private island experiences. It is four miles long, 1/2 mile wide, 700 acres, located 6 miles off the coast of Florida and is accessible only by ferry or boat. The only “crowd” you’ll encounter on the beautiful, shell strewn beaches are birds and crabs! Ospreys can be seen diving for dinner daily on the beach, or in the trees enjoying their catch. You will also find an abundance of tropical breezes, Florida sunshine, local island hospitality, and manatees. Dolphins can be seen feeding daily from the beach. The south end of the island boasts a 350 acre State Preserve, part of the Florida State Park system, providing sanctuary for many migratory and nesting birds, including American Bald Eagles. Hiking trails through the preserve bring guests to more of the island’s pristine beaches. One gift left by Hurricane Ian is wider beaches that allow islanders to walk all the way to Redfish Pass and wave at Captiva Island on the other side. Other island activities include kayak, boat and paddle board rentals, plus tours available for fishing, shelling, dolphin watching and island hopping. For relaxation, enjoy downtime at our pool or the beach. There are also massage appointments available to book at home or beachfront.

We really enjoyed our time at Sunny by You. The house was spacious and comfortable. We loved using the screened in porch / lanai for hanging out and meals. The kitchen had everything we needed (including decent knives which is rare in a vacation house!). Our kids LOVED the pool and many pool toys and easy access to the beach. The folks we interacted with at Shally’s (the property management company) were also very friendly and made getting groceries a breeze. Overall this was a wonderful place to unwind!

We had a beautiful stay at Sunny by you! The house has anything you could possibly need. Close to the beach and a pool that I believe was heated. Everything was very organized and there were games for outdoors and for indoors (board games). The owner and the property management group were very accommodating and we were grateful to have an exterior elevator for our 86 year old guests.

We had a wonderful stay at Sunny By You on North Captiva! We were a group of 8 (two families with 4 young children). The house is absolutely beautiful, clean, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our trip easy and comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, and they provided plenty of beach and bath towels. It is just a few minutes’ walk to the beach down a sandy road that was easy to navigate with young children. Eric, the owner, was very responsive leading up to and during our stay. The team at Shally's, who manage the property, were available on the island for any questions and had some great tips for our stay. As noted in the house description, the "box" room is quite small—best suited for a single person or a child—the other bedrooms have plenty of space and the upstairs is very well laid out so it's comfortable for a group. We loved our stay at Sunny By You and cannot wait to go back!

The house was decorated beautifully and well stocked for everything we needed for meals. Plenty of great spaces for relaxing or playing games and all the beach supplies you want to spend your days on the beach. Island Life is the Good Life

Last week was our family's 2nd trip to North Captiva for Spring Break. It was another amazing week. This was our first time staying at Sunny By You and I can't say enough good things. Even before I booked the host was so helpful answering questions. We loved being able to bring our dogs. The kitchen was stocked with all the spices, oils, etc that you need. We loved the openness of the kitchen/living/dining room. The bedrooms were comfortable, but we were literally only in them for sleeping! Where Sunny By You really shines is the outdoor spaces. That is where we spent all our time when we were at the house. The top floor porch was so comfortable and relaxing. My husband and I spent lots of time there reading and enjoying the view. The area under the house was perfect for our teens and their friends (4 total). They let us hang out, too. Ping Pong, Giant Jenga and Connect 4 were all played a lot. The lounge area right next to the pool was great to watch the kids play and stay out of the sun when you needed a break. The pool was used extensively. Just a couple houses down from the beach, Sunny By You is the perfect location. Great house, great hosts. We'd definitely book here again.

We were the first guests to stay in the newly renovated home and yes I’m going to call it a home as Eric has made it feel that way. EVERYTHING is brand new and the decor is well done. Our kids had a blast and loved that they could walk to the best beach on the island in 2 minutes. I honestly can’t say enough about the home and how great of a guy Eric is. Tropical Paradise!

“Sunny by You” and North Captiva Island truly make you feel like you are a MILLION miles from home. We live only 1 1/2 hrs north of the island, brought our own boat and had a fantastic visit. We were met at our dock and assisted with all of our luggage and coolers by golf cart. The home is perfect for a large family, (we had 10) and is beautifully appointed with everything you need. We boated and fished the local waters and took the golf cart all around the island and to the amazing Sunset Beach every evening. The beach and sunsets were gorgeous, and we saw lots of dolphins and even a manatee. We had 5 of our grandkids with us and the home had everything for their entertainment….swimming pool with floats and toys, ping pong, kayaks, games and puzzles! They have truly thought of everything! Thanks so much Eric for sharing your home with us, and Shally’s for making our stay a memorable one. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Sunny By You is everything our extended family of 7 (ages 12 -87) wanted and needed. We loved the large open floor plan with large glass sliders that open to a huge deck with ocean views. We all enjoyed time here together preparing meals, playing card games and watching football on the huge tv. The bedrooms and beds were super comfortable and also great space for all of us. There is a lot of attention to detail - ample pool towels, a huge poolside shower, a closet full of soft thick bathroom towels, extra blankets and comforters in every room, big bedroom closets, an extra ice maker, a separate filtered drinking water faucet, tons of cooking spices, pots, pans and utensils, a giant fridge/freezer, more than enough pool toys, tons of beach chairs, a beach tent, a huge cooler, an extra poolside fridge, kayaks and so much more. We all had a great time in the pool, playing volleyball on the full size sand court and playing ping pong. The home has a double lot with beautiful landscaping and privacy while also being just a short walk to the most beautiful beach on the island, Sunset Beach. Sunset Beach connects to the nature preserve where we walked for miles looking for shells. We used the kayaks to check out the bay and see the manatees - what a thrill! Everything about this home and its location is 5 star. We’ve stayed in many places in many countries and this home is a stand out gem. Eric, the owner, thought of everything and was tremendously helpful with any questions we had about the island and his home to help us get ready for our stay. I simply can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed all this home has to offer. Thank you so much Eric!

Perfect place to unwind and spend time with loved ones.

If you ever wondered what paradise looks like, plan a trip to Sunny by You on North Captiva Island. You are completely removed from reality and submerged into island time. We were in awe as soon as we arrived. The island is beyond beautiful. Sunny by You was exactly what our family needed. We had 6 adults, 2 bigger kids and 3 little kids/toddlers and our service dog. Spacious enough for all of us. The house has everything you need from beach towels to games to pool toys to beach necessities. Kitchen has all the tools needed to cook your meals during your stay. We made reservations at OTW for dinner one night, exceptionally good food! The home owner, Eric, is very helpful. He always responds to any emails or messages I sent. Property management was helpful before and while we were on the island. They made transitioning to and from the boat a breeze. Only thing I can expressive more than what I have already.. bring tons and tons of bugs spray! And wear it religiously!

Amazing property!

I’ve stayed in a lot of houses on North Captiva and this is one of the best! Beautiful, fully stocked, tons of games by the pool, you name it. Highly recommend for large families especially. We were eight people and had plenty of room.

We have always been deeply attracted to the natural world of South Florida: the Everglades, the Ten Thousand Islands, the beaches of Sanibel and Captiva. When we stumbled upon North Captiva Island, we knew we’d found the place we’d been seeking. In addition to loving the local natural world, we are excited to bring joy to others. We knew that hosting at this incredible beach home would bring these two aspects of ourselves together.

Why they chose this property

North Captiva Island is a place like no other! We love Southwest Florida and had looked for years for a place that felt right. One time we decided to do a day trip to North Captiva and were immediately in love with the place, the people and the incredible natural setting. We loved it all: the miles of natural beaches, the incredible winding trails in the Preserve, the shelling, the fun, quirky and lovely homes, the golf cart trails for roads, the calm waters on the Pine Island Sound side or the lively waves of the Gulf. The wildlife is incredible; the Osprey’s, Gopher Tortoises, dolphins, all the fish and so much more. As a barrier island with no bridge, this incredible place will remain a simple treasure, bypassed by the hectic development of the rest of Florida. If you crave a bit of “old Florida” in a stunning, unique, natural setting, we think you’ll come to love this place as much as we do.

What makes this property unique

Sunny By You is a special beach home in so many ways. Our location on Oyster Shell Drive, steps from the spectacular Sunset Beach is one of the best on North Captiva Island. We were personally involved in all aspects of bringing this beach home to life, with a thoughtful, vibrant “comfortable contemporary” feel throughout. We put a lot of energy into envisioning what our kids and grandkids would enjoy most in a beach home. The cool lounging/gaming/eating areas reflect this. The private, heated saltwater pool adds to it. The fun stuff like ping pong, a sand volleyball (or badminton) court, giant Jenga, Connect Four and more all round it out. Easy access to the cool trails in the Preserve and exploring the beaches are frosting on the cake. We think you’ll love Sunny By You as much as we do.
