Welcome to Langley House, a place for family and friends to get away from the daily stress. Look for whales from the beach and have morning coffee overlooking the ocean, it’s an ideal home base for your vacation.
Langley House is designed to take advantage of the spectacular views of Puget Sound and the Cascade Mountains. The upper level features an open floor plan where you’ll find the living room, kitchen, dining space with seating for 8, and an adjacent upper deck. There are two bedrooms – one with a queen bed and the other with two twins and a queen sleeper sofa. There is also a full bath and walk-in pantry with a second stove. Classic furnishings make the home warm and cozy any time of year.
On the main level, enjoy the spacious family room with TV, wood-burning fireplace, wet bar, and French doors leading to the backyard for easy indoor/outdoor living. There is also a guest bathroom and laundry room. At the end of the hall, the private and quiet primary bedroom with adjacent bathroom has a California king bed that’s perfect for sleeping late. It also opens onto its own deck with access to the hot tub.
The backyard sanctuary has multiple seating areas for those who enjoy sun or shade. Make s’mores in the firepit, play corn hole, enjoy the hot tub, or simply listen to the birds that visit the spectacular garden.
There’s something for everyone in the historic, seaside town of Langley, which is a 1.5 mile walk or 5-minute drive away. Whether you’re looking for ice cream and saltwater taffy or wine tasing and Penn Cove mussels, you will find it in this charming town. Langley has fabulous restaurants, coffee shops, and a well-stocked grocery store.
Like most homes in Langley, we do not have whole house air conditioning. Temperatures are generally cooler on the island and all bedrooms have either ceiling fans and/or floor fans. The east-facing twin bedroom has a window AC unit. There is also a backup generator that automatically turns on in the case of a power outage.
The beach near our home is a classic Pacific Northwest beach with rocks, driftwood, and beautiful wildlife. Depending on the tide, you may need to walk over driftwood, so it's not great for strollers or wagons, though they can be left at the entry point. It may also be challenging for people who have difficulty walking. Beach/water shoes recommended.
Fiber internet access is available and cell phone reception is good. The large family room TV includes a Roku streaming stick for accessing your own streaming services. The home does not include cable or satellite TV.
Bedroom 1 (main floor): California king
Bedroom 2 (2nd floor): Queen bed
Bedroom 3 (2nd floor): Two twins + queen sleeper sofa
- Quiet hours from 9pm-8am.
- Parking onsite for 3 vehicles. Home is at the end of a long, shared driveway and it can be challenging to back out. Back up cameras are very helpful.
- Due to our septic system, children are included in max. occupancy.
- This is a no smoking/no vaping property, including both inside and outside the home.
- We love animals, but we cannot accommodate pets or emotional support animals in our home. Several family members have allergies and asthma, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and welcoming space for both our guests and our family. Please note that while we do not allow pets, our own non-shedding dogs are occasionally at the property, so this is not an allergy-free home.
- Our garden is one of the joys of staying here—it’s large, lush, and full of life. Depending on the season, you may encounter bees, insects, or other wildlife enjoying the space. We encourage guests to take care when outdoors, especially near flowering plants. Keeping screens shut and food covered or in the refrigerator will help keep bugs and critters out of the house. Note that the garden includes uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces. Please exercise caution.
Privacy disclosure: The property has security cameras on all exterior entries to the home.

About the host
Hosted by John Madrid
We are a Seattle family of four who have been dreaming of buying a place ‘in the islands’ for about a decade. We finally did in 2024! We adore Seattle, but Langley is where we come to decompress and take time to smell the flowers. We hope you will too.
Why they chose this property
Our home is in a quiet neighborhood that's close to town but feels far away. We enjoy being near Langley, which is our favorite town on the island. We also appreciate having a spectacular view and access to a beautiful PNW beach. We regularly see bald eagles and harbor seals bobbing in the water. If you're lucky, you may see orca whales!
What makes this property unique
Our beautiful garden, Many spaces to enjoy the outdoors. Amazing views. Quality furniture, mattresses, linens, and appliances. This is not a rental property. It's our home that we rent on occasion.
