Naples Historic Home - Remodeled 1 Bedroom Guest House, Ideal Location, Pool, Gardens
AVAILABILITY: Our guests return frequently which gives us the assurance that we have created accommodations of the highest standards. Our rental history: In addition to the winter season we are frequently full in October and November. Family and friends join us from about December 20 through January 1st.
Accommodations: Detached guest house, 1 bedroom, 1 bath, sleeps 2 - . Please contact us for questions regarding available unit. We however no longer allow pets due to our own dogs health.
Exceptional location, quality and style. Walk 600 feet west to the beach near Naples Pier or 600 feet east to shopping, restaurants and entertainment on 3rd Street South. The Naples Daily News ran a feature article about us and our home on December 9, 2010 - 'Mystery in its History'. Our home was also featured in a 6 page spread in Naples Illustrated, September, 2011.
We have remodeled our Guest House to the highest standards. It is a spacious (540 square foot) 1 bedroom apartment. The great room is of an open plan with comfortable seating and with flat screen TV, Comcast DVR, DVD player and stereo system. The dining area faces the front windows and patio. The bedroom has a king size bed, an antique wardrobe and a dresser-media cabinet.
The front patio opens to the butterfly garden with a path leading to ample paved parking. The 30’ x 14’ heated swimming pool has a 30’ x 10’ lap lane with a sun shelf and wide steps to the side. There is an outdoor shower surrounded by palms.
Our residence in Old Naples is a contributing structure to the Naples Historic District. The Main House was built in 1912 with outer buildings in 1940 and our remodeling work added central air conditioning and heating and hurricane resistant windows that have both temperature and sound insulating qualities. We are in a quiet residential block yet only a few minutes walk to a spectacular beach to the west and the best of Old Naples dining and entertainment to the east.

About the host
Hosted by Mary Espejo
After first visiting Naples in 1993 and staying at a variety of rental properties and hotels the Bishop's purchased “Hack’s Shack” in 1997. The home was named after one of Naples’ pioneers and leaders. Mrs. Bishop saw the potential beauty before her husband who was a design consultant. He then spent countless hours endeavoring to remodel the property to modern standards while respecting the home's heritage and character. “Terra Palma”, the new name for the home, is Mrs. Bishops permanent residence. She and her husband had also lived in London, England for 4 years and enjoyed extensive world travel. Mr. Bishop passed in 2014 but Mrs. Bishop continues to operate Terra Palma.
Why they chose this property
We have not found a better place to live. We’ve searched throughout the US and Naples is our choice - my catch-phrase for Naples is “quiet sophistication.” We are surrounded by large, beautiful homes in a residential neighborhood. We have everything we need a short distance away and a brief evening walk brings us to a tranquil beach and the best sunsets in America.
What makes this property unique
Terra Palma is in a unique location; high rise condos and hotels are far away; streets are bordered by lush vegetation; traffic moves at a leisurely pace and people are very, very friendly. Whether a traveler or a local worker, we are here because we want to be. Conversations with strangers are easily started. Naples continues to charm us every day.
