About the host
Hosted by Deb Calnan
I am a third grade teacher who lives with my family about an hour south of Denmark. I spent all of my childhood summer weekends and most of my summers as an adult with my own children at my favorite place on Earth. I manage the rental for my dad, who owns the property. We had a rental company do it before, so I am excited about adding this personal touch for our renters, who will be enjoying such a special place.
Why they chose this property
My mom and Dad bought the land from my Grandfather who developed Swan Road and Cygnet Drive. Swan Road is named after my grandfather, Arthur Swan, who built the road and sold the lots. Cygnet Drive is named for my Mom, who was a cygnet, a baby Swan. My Mom and Dad, who was a carpenter, built the camp back in the 60s. The above picture is of my dad, the owner, my 3 siblings, and myself. Our family enjoyed many wonderful summer weekends together at camp as children, as well as many years after with our own children. Since my Mom's passing 13 years ago, we started renting the place in the summers.
What makes this property unique
I have loved this place since my very first memories. My heart always skips a little when I turn the corner in the road and see the mountain in the distance for the very first time each spring. Aside from all the memories, I enjoy looking out the windows and seeing the mountain, the lake, and the wildlife. The first call of the loon lets me know summer is finally here. Another reason is being able to jump in our boat and go for a ride whenever we want. I hope you enjoy this special place as much as our family has and still does.
