About the host
Hosted by Shawn Elliott
Hi — I'm Shawn Elliott, and I'm glad you found Tranquil.
I'm a CFO and the owner of SWE Consulting LLC, originally from Fergus Falls, Minnesota. I've spent my career in finance and accounting, which means I pay attention to details, follow through on what I say I'll do, and take seriously the responsibility of being someone's host.
Tranquil was my parents' home for over a decade. They moved to Prescott Valley because they loved the high desert — the clean air, the mountain views, the slower pace of life, and the way the community felt like a real neighborhood. They cared for that home deeply. I lost them both within 13 months of each other, and I found myself as the steward of a house filled with their love and their intention.
I opened Tranquil to guests in April 2025. I didn't want it to sit empty, and I didn't want strangers to inherit something without understanding what it meant. So I did what felt right — I prepared it fully, stocked it thoughtfully, and began welcoming families, professionals, and longer-stay guests who needed exactly what my parents had built: a real home, not a rental unit.
Everything in Tranquil has been chosen with care. The king suite with its soaking tub and gas fireplace. The queen bed with the adjustable base. The fully equipped kitchen with the coffee grinder and the slow cooker and the air fryer — because people staying for a week or more deserve to cook real meals. The dedicated home office with dual monitors and Starlink satellite internet, because remote work shouldn't mean compromising your setup. The covered patio with the dining table and the fire pit, because evenings in the high desert are something worth savoring.
My co-host Shannon helps ensures the property is professionally cleaned in between each guest.
If you're bringing your family to explore Sedona, escape the Phoenix heat, or simply need a beautiful home base in Northern Arizona, I'd be honored to host you.

Why they chose this property
My parents chose Prescott Valley after years of searching for the right place — and they chose wisely. At over 5,000 feet elevation, it runs 20–25°F cooler than Phoenix in summer, which makes it one of the most comfortable places in Arizona to spend an extended stay with family. The neighborhood itself is quiet, residential, and genuinely safe — well-maintained streets, friendly neighbors, and a real sense of community. It's close enough to reach Sedona in 30 minutes, downtown Prescott in 20, and the Grand Canyon in under three hours — but far enough removed from tourist traffic that coming home to Tranquil each evening actually feels like coming home. That balance of accessibility and calm is rare, and it's exactly what makes this the right place for families who want to explore Arizona without feeling like they're living inside an attraction.
Prescott Valley has a pace that surprises people — especially those coming from Phoenix or the city. The air smells like juniper and high desert. Mornings are crisp and quiet, the kind that make you want to take your coffee outside and just sit. Evenings cool down fast even in summer, and the sky at dusk — purples, deep oranges, the silhouette of mountains to every side — is something guests mention again and again. The neighborhood itself is peaceful and walkable, with local restaurants, a Saturday farmers market, hiking trails, and all the everyday essentials within a short drive. What I enjoy most is that it doesn't try to be anything other than what it is — a genuine Arizona community that happens to sit at the edge of some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Families who come for 2 weeks leave wishing they'd booked longer.

What makes this property unique
Most vacation rentals give you a place to sleep. Tranquil gives you a place to actually live — and that distinction shows in every room.
Start with the office. A dedicated workspace with two large external monitors, a Dell laptop, USB-C docking station, wireless printer, and 100 Mbps Starlink satellite internet. It's the only fully equipped dual-monitor home office available in any rental in the area — built for guests who need to keep working without compromising their setup.
Then there's the home itself. A king suite with a gas fireplace and soaking tub. A queen bed with a remote-controlled adjustable base. A kitchen stocked with a Ninja coffee grinder, air fryer, slow cooker, and every appliance and utensil a family actually needs for a week or more of real cooking. Tablo TV with live over-the-air channels plus Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+, and Paramount+ on every Smart TV — no logins required. Power lift leather recliners in the living room. A covered patio with a dining table, BBQ grill, and fire pit overlooking the open desert.
What truly sets Tranquil apart though is harder to photograph. This was a family home — loved and cared for for over a decade. That history lives in the details: the thoughtful extras, the fully stocked pantry, the Welcome Guide built from real local knowledge. Guests don't arrive to a staged rental. They arrive to a home that was prepared for them personally.
At over 5,000 feet, cooler than Phoenix by 20°F, 30 minutes from Sedona, and priced for longer stays — Tranquil offers something genuinely rare: comfort, capability, and calm, all in one place.
