About the host
Hosted by Fred

As a retired utility worker who lived out of a suitcase this would have been wonderful. Living in a hotel for months at a time was less than desirable. With their coin laundry down the hall I found my clothes on the floor while someone else took the dryer. That won’t happen here! When I got sick on the road it would have been so nice to be able to walk into the kitchen and make a cup of tea or pot of soup and not have to drag myself out to get food three times a day because I didn't have room in the small frig for leftovers much less fresh food and beverages for my stay, and it cost the company a lot more than Aunt Rose’s Place would have! I stayed at Uncle Bill's Place in AZ many years ago and enjoyed the concept so much it became a dream of mine to provide such housing here in Monroe, so I'm giving it a go!
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with this house the moment I saw it! It was built in 1897 and has so much charm. I added central air in the spring and replacement windows in the fall of 2017. The house is very well kept and clean. It is close (0.7 mi) to town and many industries. The neighbors are friendly and keep their places up nicely. The yard next door is like a botanical garden and creates a wonderful view from the kitchen windows!
What makes this property unique
We are walking distance from so much in Downtown Monroe, a couple blocks to the river where you can fish. Or dock your boat at one of the local Marina's and enjoy our Great Lake Erie fishing. There are canoe liveries, and marinas that rent jet skis and boats. There is a bike shop down the street, bars, eateries, bakery, handmade candy store, a wonderful Popcorn Emporium, Monroe Museum, and a Live Theater among other interests within walking distance. In January and July Monroe is a buzz with free Blues and Jazz respectively.
