First Light - Vintage waterfront with hot tub, sauna + EV charger

First Light – Vintage Waterfront Retreat with Hot Tub, Sauna & EV Charger

Create lasting memories at First Light, a 1970’s original post-and-beam inlet beach home, and make it your retreat. Wake to the sunrise peaking over Meares Island, casting a golden hue over the water. With nearly an acre to explore, including the yard and private beach, the home comfortably sleeps up to 6 guests. Soak in the hot tub, steam in the cedar barrel sauna, or cozy up to the fire — these touches make the home truly special. From the house or yard, wildlife sightings are common, including orcas, herons, seals, and bears.

HOUSE HIGHLIGHTS:

- Barrel sauna and hot tub
- EV Charger
- Waterfront access and epic views
- Near downtown Tofino

As you enter, large windows frame sweeping inlet views, and a propane fireplace anchors the open-concept living and dining area. The living room features a 55-inch Smart TV with Netflix, Prime, and Crave log-ins (no cable). Board games, cards, and books are available for a cozy night in. Binoculars are provided on the bar cart for wildlife viewing. The house is equipped with solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint.

KITCHEN:

Spacious enough for several cooks, the kitchen is stocked with everything needed to make an epic meal: basic spices, oil & vinegar, immersion blender, hand mixer, chef’s knives, soda stream, Ninja blender, and popcorn maker. Enjoy the ocean view while washing dishes. The dining table seats 6. Composting and recycling are encouraged.

COFFEE + TEA:

A starter supply of fresh, locally roasted Foggy Bean coffee is provided. Brew with a drip coffee maker (reusable filter), Breville espresso machine, or Le Creuset French press. Assorted organic teas from Ucluelet Thay Tea and two coffee flavor syrups are included for a sweet touch.

BATHROOMS: 2
Both bathrooms are stocked with locally made organic shampoo, conditioner by Carina and hand soap (all refillable). Seven body towels are provided for 6 guests, plus hot tub towels and a hair dryer. There is one bathroom downstairs with a tub/shower combo and upstairs has a shower.

BEDROOMS: 3
*Ground Floor Bedroom: Queen bed with forest views and closet.
*Loft Bedroom (Upstairs): King bed, closet and chair with a privacy screen
*Primary Bedroom: Upstairs and extremely spacious with king bed and seating options - window seating for morning coffee and marine life watching. There are black-out blinds facing the ocean. The ensuite bathroom and walk in closet and office is accessed from here.

Two robes and natural plants provided in each bedroom for a calming nature connection. Linens provided are organic and duvet covers are linen blends.

WORKSPACE:

A walk-in “cloffice” off the primary bedroom includes a dedicated desk and chair by the window.

FITNESS:

Two yoga mats, resistance bands, and a set of small weights are available in a basket in the office.

PETIQUETTE:

Pet-friendly (1 dog max). Dog towels, a small bed, and bowls provided. Direct beach access available. Please ensure dogs do not chase wildlife such as shorebirds. Further instructions provided in the house guide. $50 per dog.

OUTDOORS:

The front yard features seasonal outdoor furniture (deck is uncovered). Two Adirondack chairs on the deck and four by the beach fire pit are available year-round. Paddleboards can be used from the property — safety first, wear life jackets and inform someone of your plans. Fire pit wood and axe are not provided (available at cost if requested). Propane firepit available during seasonal fire bans.

RUG RATS:
House is stocked with a baby gate, playpen, high chair, step stool, and children’s dinnerware. Do not leave children unattended in the loft area. The propane stove is hot to touch.

CHECK-IN:

Private entry with key access. Check-in from 4:30 PM onwards. Early check-in may be available with 24-hour notice.

Independent check-in: A Welcome Guide is sent prior to arrival and scannable at the house. A long-term tenant resides on the property in accordance with Tofino bylaw and respects guest privacy.

Getting around Tofino is part of the adventure! The scenic Multi-Use Path (MUP) runs through town and is perfect for walking, biking, jogging, or strolling.

PUBLIC TRANSIT:
Hop on the West Coast Transit bus for easy travel between Tofino and Ucluelet (and stops along the West Coast). It runs seven days a week with frequent service—and you can find routes, maps, and the full schedule here: https://bctransit.com/west-coast

• Parking spots are enforced daily; always check signs.
• Free short-term parking and resident permit options exist in certain zones.
• Consider alternative transit or bikes to skip parking hassles altogether!

Why they chose this property

First Light is situated just on the outskirts of downtown Tofino, before the Crab Dock. This is perfect for car free exploring down town; in the summer months it is often hard to find parking and as of 2023, it is pay parking, so we very much recommend taking advantage of using the MUP (multi use path) and walking, biking, e-bike or grabbing the Free Shuttle that runs in the Summer months to the beaches.

From the house:
To downtown: A block / 1 min drive / 5 min walk
To Chesterman Beach: 3.5km / 5 min drive / 40 min walk
Pacific Rim National Park: 16km / 20 min drive / 1 hour bike

What makes this property unique

As you enter the house, you are met with large windows overlooking the inlet and a propane fireplace in the centre of the living / dining room. The open concept living room has sweeping ocean views and a 55 inch smart tv with Netflix, Prime, Crave log in from the TV (no cable). We've games, books and playing cards for a night in. There is a set of binoculars on the bar cart by the window - keep your eyes open! The house is set up with solar panels to reduce the carbon footprint
