Starfish Cottage is in the village of Crantock on the north coast of Cornwall, about 3 miles from Newquay. The cottage is arranged over three floors to provide spacious accommodation for up to 8 people. The cottage has a master ensuite bedroom, a studio ensuite bedroom with balcony (this is an attic room with steep staircase), twin bedded room and 1 bunkbed bedroom and sleeps 8. There are three bathrooms one with a separate shower and a bath and the other 2 are showerrooms. The living room has an open fire, Smart freeview TV and 3 sofas, the dining room has a large table with 8 chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine and enough crockery, cutlery and cookware for 8 people. There is a private patio and garden for bbqs with hot outdoor shower for when you come off the beach. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you need for a self catered holiday. Crantock Beach is good for surfing with RNLI 10am - 6pm in season with 3 family friendly pubs, Crantock Bay Spa with tennis court, Treago Farm tea room, Jam Jar pizza cafe and a post office grocers shop selling fresh bread, croissants and hot Cornish pasties & the best sausage rolls. Crantock Beach is owned by the National Trust and is a national treasure with beautiful soft sand, dunes, rock pools, river and excellent surf being the next bay along the coast from Fistral Beach but without the crowds. Crantock offers a great base for a traditional Cornish holiday with easy access to all the sights and attractions. The Coastal Footpath is 5 minutes walk away & leads to Crantock Beach, Polly Joke Beach, Holywell Bay & Fistral Beach. Beware of stroing riptides & swim/surf between the RNLI flags.
The National Trust Carpark is free to members.
Please note that the access to Crantock Beach via the sand dunes is steep and not suitable for the very old or young or people with mobility issues. From the main National Trust carpark there is a flat walk to the River Gannel end of the beach on the right side. You can hire surf boards/paddle boards from Big Green Surf at Crantock Beach NT carpark.
The Village Post Office sells amazing local pasties, the best sausage rolls, bread, bacon, eggs, beer, papers - its GREAT!!!!
Starfish Cottage Location: Starfish Cottage is located in the seaside village of Crantock. Crantock is a picturesque village of historical note, on the North coast of Cornwall - four miles from Newquay and with one of the best beaches in the area. It has an ancient church, three pubs, pizza cafe, art galleries and a village store. Crantock Beach is a great beach for families and surfers alike. It has a wide sandy beach with sand dunes between the beach and the village. At low tide you can walk along the beach to West Pentire. Polly Joke beach is the next beach around the coast going west. It has been described as one of the best beaches in Cornwall and one of the 50 places you should visit before you die! The National Trust own Crantock beach and the surrounding area so the entire flora and fauna are well protected and preserved. The Car Park limits the number of visitors to the beach.

This house was the perfect choice for our stay! Ideal for 5 people (though it can easily accommodate up to 8), it’s spacious, very comfortable, and truly has everything you might need. Having 3 full bathrooms was a real plus. The host was always extremely kind and quickly helped us when we couldn't get the boiler to start when we arrived. We also loved the thoughtful touch of the complimentary bottle of wine. Highly recommended!

Starfish cottage is spacious and it was perfect for our family stay, with 3 young children the garden and all the amenities were handy. The cottage was clean and communication with Claire was great. The location was perfect for local beaches and being close to Newquay, so when the weather wasn't great there were plenty of places nearby to entertain the kids.

Beautiful beach base

Starfish Cottage was spacious, clean and well equipped for a family break. The beach was really interesting and pretty. The shop was useful, everyone very friendly.The Albion was great for food, as was Cargo Coffee truck on the beach, and fish and chips from Cubert were lovely too! A great holiday, thanks.

Fantastic stay

Starfish cottage was a lovely, spacious home which was near the beach and an ideal location for our family. We particular appreciated the variety of rooms as we had both our teenagers and our grown up son and girlfriend stay so the extra bathrooms were appreciated. Host, home set up and cleanliness were spot on and appreciated the welcome tray on arrival. We would highly recommend Starfish cottage as a place to stay in Cornwall.

Great holiday

We all had a great holiday staying in this lovely house. On arrival the house was lovely and clean, it is has good sized and well equipped kitchen. Great to have parking for 2 cars on the property. The beds were comfortable and good sized rooms. Having the 3 showers was great after being on the beach plus the shower out side. We all are looking forward to staying again in this lovely house and the great location.

Wonderful stay in a fantastic location

Starfish Cottage was a very clean, spacious and comfortable place to stay from which to explore the beautiful beaches and surroundings locally. Everything is there to make for a lovely holiday for a family and the owners are very friendly and responsive. Stair-gates were the only thing missing to make the place more toddler-friendly, as the stairs are steep with no handrail. Having 2 parking spaces was very convenient and we enjoyed the garden. We'd love to return.

Fabulous stay in a beautiful place

We had a lovely time at Starfish Cottage. Claire was so helpful before our stay and we were able to explore all the right places during our time in Crantock. We had E xcellent communication throughout, a very clean house and we were extremely lucky with the weather which helped us enjoy our holiday even more. Thank you for the bonus biscuits and bubbly too! Unfortunately our car broke down just as we were due to leave; Claire and Ben were so kind and accommodating, inviting us all back in for a cup of tea, and letting the children watch tv, whilst they were cleaning the property in time for the guests arriving later that day. Much appreciated. We hope to be back next year 😊

Lovely cottage in Crantock

Starfish Cottage is an extremely comfortable and spacious house from which to explore Crantock and the surrounding coastline. We are a large family of 6, and it was ideal. Bedroom layouts were great, no queues for the bathroom, a lovely sun-trap of a garden in the back, a handy outside shower to wash off from the beach - it has everything you need for your stay - a real home from home. Being only a short walk down to the beach meant we were able to go down to the sea every day, and you can also walk into Newquay in approx 40 mins. Crantock has lovely coastal walks in both directions and some very welcoming pubs. Would highly recommend, we have already booked for next year!

Super surprise rather booked on impulse. Loads of room - teenage son had top floor to self and we had main double room. Still two other rooms (bunk beds and twin beds) if needed so great for larger family. Claire (owner) couldn’t have been more helpful - very welcoming and loads of useful hints - thanks Claire! Definitely recommend. It’s not absolute luxury or state of art posh but everything you need for a lovely holiday. Definitely would recommend and go again as it worked for us…

Why they chose this property

Crantock is easily reached from the A30, has a fantastic beach for surfing, swimming, rockpool hunting and we have a great shop so you don't need to leave the village to buy bread, pasties, cakes, sausages, bacon, eggs, chocolate. The local pubs are all family friendly and serve yummy Cornish food all locally sourced. Holywell Bay & Polly Joke Beach are a coastal walk away - stunning views.

What makes this property unique

Starfish Cottage is great for families and adult groups as it has 4 bedrooms so you can retreat to relax away from the group if you need some quiet time but also get together to eat, bbq, watch a film, play scrabble together!! You are so close to the coastal path for easy access to the beach without getting in the car & the shop is 5 mins walk away for breakfast bacon & eggs! As the shop stocks most food,drinks, papers, booze & the 3 pubs, pizza cafe, Treago farm cafe are a short walk away you don't need to go anywhere!
